Whoa! The ak-47 is old and defunct. I don't think so. They are still one of the best rifles to date as far as Military uses. Over 50 armies of the world still use this weapon in there arsenal. This thing is basically useable after putting it in sand, swamp or dropping it from far heights. They also take standard ammo. .Why do you think terrorist organizations love them, and even US soldiers will pick them up over an m-16 or M4. I think you may have your weapons mixed up. Not only all that but they can use 75 round drum magazines. I mean look at these specs Caliber 7.62x39 mm Action: Gas operated, rotating bolt with 2 lugs Overall length: 870 mm Barrel length: 415 mm Weight, with empty magazine: AK 4.3 kg; AKM 3.14 kg Magazine capacity 30 rounds (40 rounds box magazines and 75 rounds drums from RPK also may be used) Cyclic rate of fire 600 rounds per minute Maximum effective range: about 400 meters As compared to the M4 and M4A1 Caliber: 5.56mm NATO Action: Gas operated, rotating bolt Overall length: 838 mm (stock extended); 757 mm (stock fully collapsed) Barrel length: 370 mm Weight: 2.52 kg without magazine; 3.0 kg with magazine loaded with 30 rounds Rate of fire: 700 - 950 rounds per minute Maximum effective range: 360 meters Rarely do you have to clean, repair or do anything to this rifle to get it to fire accurately. I am sorry but I would trust my life with an AK over a M4 any day!

To be precise, Cingular (Which is 40% owned by Bellsouth and 60% owned by at&t (all lowercase, the new company formerly SBC and AT&T (landline) bought out AT&T wireless, and kept the name of the parent company "Cingular", due to the fact that name "AT&T Wireless" was still owned by the parent company AT&T (landline) at the time.. Now that SBC obtained (merged whatever) the old AT&T (landline) company, they sat down and decided they wanted to call the new landline company at&t for brand recognition. Now at&t is talking about buying out Bellsouth, which includes the remaining interest is Cingular. The 40% venture is what at&t is really after, only because they see mobile/cellular growth, and they want to keep the profits to themselves. Myself, working for at&t and my wife working for Cingular, have read the memos. Once Bellsouth is obtained, at&t under the lead of Ed Whittacre (or whomever if he retires) Cingular Wireless will once again revert back to at&t wireless for the brand recognition, and to knock one more provider out of the Customer Service ratings standings. These are the facts of the case.

Try again. This is how it went..AT&T wireless was 100% controlled by ATT, Cingular was 60% controlled by SBC and 40 % controlled by bell south. Cingular wireless bought out ATT wireless completely, and the company, still called Cingular wireless, still is owned 60% by SBC and 40% by Bellsouth. Then comes a long a merger between SBC and ATT, which brought the company now to be named AT&T (all lowercase letters). Now at&t wants to buy out Bellsouth, land and the 40% that they own of Cingular Wireless. Which makes at&t(formerly SBC (changed its named due to at&t brand having more name recognition)in 100% control of Cingular Wireless(which is probably going to be named changed to at&t wireless(the only reason that it is still called Cingular is because Bellsouth fought to not have to put all the money into what is called "rebranding" the name in the first place), all of the old AT&T, all of Bellsouth, and all of their original areas that the old SBC covered). You want to know why I know this. I work for what is now at&t, and my wife works for the current Cingular call center)

One of the Comments stated that this has nothing to do with Slashdot, of which i am commentating on.

To the paralyzed Christian.. i seriously apologize for you injuries. I know several people like you with similar conditions and viewpoints. but i also know a lot of Christians that say if the fetus is being aborted, why not put it to good use...Unfortunately with Bills that those such as in North Dakota (ban on all abortions except where it is to save the mother) a certain group of religious beliefs is being pushed in to the political ring. An unknown author once said..."if it does no harm to anyone, and a great help to society...screw religion" (sidebar: sorry in my opinion a fetus is not an anyone) I think that the politics today are not only motivated by greed, but also way to much religion) Ideals for religions are being forced on people everyday through bills and laws

TO all of those who say this should not be on slashdot..BS!..This is as scientific as nasa, nano technology or anythign else.

This did pass with a wide margin during the last elections, and they really need to shape this up. I think any college applying for grants should not have people on the board..Its called bias, and there are not enough people in the political system who do not have it.

I believe that the more schools help themselves without the grants, the more they should get because of the grants..Instead of putting all thier money into sports, cheerleading and Aestetic purposes, put it into something useful..

We have already proven that this is the next step in curing disabilities, regrowing missing parts(such as teeth..imagine never having to get dentures or an implant), possibly even giving hearing back to the deaf, sight back to the blindies, and possibly(they theorize) regrowing limbs..

If you dont call this science(which is one of the major categories on slashdot) then tell me what do you consider science? All robots and machines..If so i feel sorry for you!

This is not flamebait post, no is it trolling, for people who look at this and shun it, wait until the day they need this science for themselves...I have heard Christians who shun this, until the break thier back, then the whole argument is completely reversed and they are all for it.

  15. My thoughts on U.S. Investigating Online Music Pricing · · Score: 1

You know anyone who really looks at the situation, it is obvious that the RIAA is wanting these investigations to happen. If they get their way, they can force itunes to either use tiered pricing or not and lose lots of money.

Ever since i was young, CDs have been outrageously priced, and when all you wanted was 1 to 2 songs off an album, you are still paying what 3-4 dollars for a "single", 1 song remixed 4 times(and shitty remixes at that) or every once in a while they throw you a good track other then that single.

Personally I do not hear the difference between Lossless and 196 bit rate songs. I am no audiophile and yes i use my ipod with my white headphones. They are comfortable. Plain and simple. If they want to do tier pricing, all done by bit rate, I almost guarantee a lot of people will not be buying lossless, just in cost factor

If this goes through, I do not believe you will see any songs at less then $0.99 , you will just see popular songs go up in price. The one truly sad thing about 1 tier pricing like this is any Independant artists songs are going for the same price all the rest of the crap is there for..

If you go through every CD you own right, how many songs out of the total do you like, and will listen too. Even on my favorite bands soundtracks, there are 2-4 songs i don't like. This is why they want to make more money..Now you don't have to buy the whole caboodle, so they need to make all their xtra profit somewhere.

The other problem is Amounts of sales from Albums. The RIAA cant just buy up stocks up CDS to get their artist recognized anymore Like they used to. You know what happens to those CD's? Most of the time, they are either given away or resold at concert venues.
