Debian releases when *everything* is ready, which means that it release well after *some* things are ready. More frequent releases means less pressure on developers to make deadlines, and less pressure on users to upgrade to bleeding-edge software just to get a few new features they want.
If you recall, there was a campaign to make Mudge the USA cyber-czar back when Obama created that post. The guy knows what he's doing, and even now that he's in big-government stuff, the community still trusts him.
The GPL is a distribution license. There are no restrictions on the *use* of GPL software - it's not a EULA. So if the programmer isn't distributing his program to other people, the GPL has nothing say say about it.
One hour of TV programming is 40 minutes of content and 20 minutes of ads. If Google charges $2/10 minutes of ads, its actually twice the price per episode.
What's the difference? I already use it for RSS feeds, twitter, and email. The trouble is, I have to navigate to a different web app with different sets of features for each of those. Wouldn't it be better if my web browser had a nice, built-in way for me to manage that, instead of switching between apps every time I want to click a link in an email?
Here's a presentation from a woman who did it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=voA7Uz7uABE
She coated the magnet with gold + a layer of bio-inactive plastic, but in the end it still disintegrated.
"To ground this in a specific example, six bits stored as âoeATGâ on your hard drive (DNA) is loaded into RAM (RNA) as âoeAUGâ (remember the T->U transcription). When the RNA program in RAM is executed, âoeAUGâ is translated to a pixel (amino acid) of color âoeMâ, or methionine (which is incidentally the biological âoestartâ codon, the first instruction in every valid RNA program). " I think this is a little backwards, because the letters match A-T and G-C, so when "ATG" is copied to RNA it would be "UAC". Or is there a double-reversal somewhere?
Windows 7 is going to be even more expensive than Vista (after the free year of RC runs out). I don't generally like OEM computers, so no $25 Windows for me. The $300 I save on the OS is definitely worth the switch to me.

TPB's firewall has always blocked ICMP. No one can "ping" them even when everything is working fine.
The Story of Mel! http://foldoc.org/The+Story+of+Mel (That's not the original, that's the "free verse" version which is better IMHO.) It might even be a true story! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mel_Kaye

Taking something made of metal indoors and outdoors with a big temperature gradient is just *begging* for humidity to condense on it.
It's basically self-defense for the laptop. What's Orwellian about it?
As usual, there is a difference between the law and reality. It may not officially be a war, but it is definitely a war. :)
Sean Gourley shows that if the exponent is larger or smaller than 2.5, the war becomes unsustainable and ends fairly quickly. http://www.ted.com/talks/lang/eng/sean_gourley_on_the_mathematics_of_war.html

I can't see how America's Army [1] could *not* be called political. What about Super Columbine Massacre RPG [2]?
