SWG's development team is composed largely of individuals who worked on Ultima Online at OSI years ago. It is they who created the horrendous messes that were UO patching and, these days, SWG patching. The similarities are striking when one looks at the two games. Both UO and SWG have had duping issues, both have had problems with player structures and guilds, both shift the hot spots for experience, money, etc. every single patch.
These guys have some great ideas, they really do. They have a problem with implementation that needs to be solved if they are to ever create a game that stays fun without having to be completely overhauled every 2 years when subs fall through the floor.
As someone who has worked QA on a variety of SOE games and have had to read through player-submitted bug reports, there are FAR fewer than 1% of the player base submitting bugs in the first place, and the ones who bother cannot be considered "decent QA testers." Someone else mentioned it earlier... the beta phase is merely to hype the game. It's incredibly rare that players, even those with legitimate bugs, submit reports that are useful for QA purposes.
Your examples are all at least 50 years behind us. In addition, none of those inventions were world-wide systems that America made power grabs for... the current situation with the UN/EU wanting power over the internet is completely different than the American use and application of those English inventions. And, for the record, the US developed a jet engine independently and simultaneously.
"In liberal America being "color-blind" means doing lots of studies into peoples ethnicity and forcing it out as an issue. Then they say insulting things to "people of color" like "How does it feel to be a black foo?" as if it were any different for them than a white foo."
Damn straight. What really matters is not per-capita output, but the net output of each nation. At least that's what matters if you're trying to discourage pollution; if you're trying to economically sabotage the United States, it's another story.
Oh, so you'd rather have hundreds of thousands of displaced poor and homeless people spread across the nation? You'd rather have our economy take a severe long-term hit that could have been lightened by some aid to the people who lost everything?
Oh, and just let me remind you that bitching about suffering people being given money is TOTALLY punk rock, The AtomicPunk.
Oh. You, like many other denizens of the spelling-free zone known as Slashdot, seem to have trouble differentiating between "lose" and "loose" as well as "losing" and "loosing." Well, just so you know, these are not the same word.
"The artists are not loosing anything." This would mean that they are not letting loose anything, as that's what "loosing" means. As even one of your limited intellect can see, this is not the same as "losing" something! It's amazing, yes, but alphabetic language allows us the freedom to differentiate between two different ideas by using words that do not contain the same number of "o's" in them! Just check out the power:
"They're the ones that refused to follow the Kyoto protocol."
Because obviously, following a treaty designed to economically punish the United States for a few years would have solved all of this.
Well, Hotmail's "final" release has suffered from far more serious exploits than Google's "beta"...

He's right, and I didn't mod him up...
I've always wanted the reassurance that there would be no health risk were I to smoke 99x as many cigarettes as I do now!
They have just laid off everybody but 6 employees.
Eugene, huh?

He said new and useful, key word being NEW.

Bingo.

Thanks for the acronyms!
Um, I can see your "actual quote marks" just fine.
"I remember WoW players laughing at EQ2 players about the "lame plague" at the time. Now it happens in WoW, worse, and they like it? rofl"
Yeah. That's because EQ2 sucks ass. And before you discount my opinion, I helped test that fucking game.
That's probably the least flawless use of a computers to cars analogy I've ever seen on Slashdot.
Good fucking going, dude. Respect. 99.9% of the tards around here fuck up even the simplest analogies.

I think it may be slightly more likely that he realizes he doesn't like his company any more.
Why do you advertise that 78% of people who try your game think it sucks too much to justify playing longer than the first day?
Seems like a strange way to go about informing people of it, don't you think?
Not loosing anything?
Like the hounds?

WOW! It's almost like they're not the same word!
The search engine.
Buisness? Expirence?
Please tell me the name of your "buisness" so that I can avoid doing any "buisness" with you.
Bad parenting costs society. There is a huge problem with that.
I'm pretty sure he was making a joke about that laughable "metal" band, System of a Down.
They suck like a septic pump.
He meant real drugs. Not weed.
Damn, how long will they delay all of these MEGA-AWESOME MUST BUY features? Are they really so incompetent?
