    Well, it's not just that the moon is "low on observable life", it's that it has NO life, and no atmosphere. Besides, have you been to the Grand Canyon? There is much life! There is no "environmental equivalence" between the Earth and the moon. It's not an aesthetic question.

    Besides, mining the moon for every gram of He3 would not change your view of it one iota.

    Here, here! That's exactly the reason why a technical degree is a plus: you are going to get practice with these techniques and algorithms--if it's a good school.

    Care to site a reference for that? I suspect what you may be referring to a low cost of materials (even that seems low to me--CCDs are not that cheap), but the sales and manufacturing costs can be quite high on such items.

    here's my rough assessment of the field

    I'm curious how you could have gained enough experience on eight different DMBS's to give such an assessment? Honestly, I'm not trying to flamebait--but we have Oracle vs. MS SQL discussions here at our IT shop and they become very technical, very detailed (tpc.org, etc.) and that's just a two-way comparison.

    You are either (a) a product reviewer, (b) unlucky enough to have been bounced around among these systems, forced to learn them all, or (c) full of B.S.

    You're right. There seems to be competition for cheaper, lightweight alternatives that appeal to the commercial sector, like Europe's Arianespace. The military gets all the *really* big toys.

    Not on Pocket PC. PIE--to say it kindly--is a pile of shit. Seriously, if you don't agree you probably haven't tried it. Ever notice the number of competing browsers available for PPC devices?

    In my experience, the first thing a *serious* PPC user will do is buy a real browser.

    As to being unsightly, that's very subjective.

    Sorry, I just don't see how hundreds upon hundreds of spinning blades, thrashing though the flesh of golden eagles, kestrels, hawks, etc. could possibly be "beautiful". On the other hand, you might find Yucca Mountain or a waste treatment facility beautiful, so, yeah... I guess it is subjective.

    On your other point, you are wrong, most of the objections have *not* been dealt with. Thanks for not quoting an OBJECTIVE source to back up your statement.
