    It's not at all clear from the story that JP Morgan's patent copies Bitcoin. The patent says nothing about the transactions being stored to a Distributed P2P Network. Paying bills anonymously with zero transaction fees and competing with Western Union are hardly the areas in which Bitcoin distinguishes itself from other EFT systems.

    And BitCoin is not anonymous. I don't think this is directed at BitCoin or more than slightly related. I think that the BitCoin-mania has distorted someones perception.

    Just as gold and silver standards which was always "privitized" and was never a "tool" that was "centrally owned" by one figure.

    I'm pretty sure that there is an argument that gold and silver, as far as macroeconomics is concerned, has been "public" and centrally controlled for a long time.

    One time I told a coworker that people should have their pets cryogenically frozen instead of sent to a pet boarding facility, or have a boarding facility that just freezes the pets, to keep them in perfect condition ofcourse.

    The next day I checked my email, which I do about twice a month, and in my Junk Mail was an email suggesting exactly that. Normal-like spammer gobblygook, except it talked about cryogenically freezing pets when you go on vacation.

    A) The government is reading my mind.
    B) I'm on the Truman Show.
    or C) Spam is highly coincidental sometimes.

    I believe the "technology" is already in use by any given torrent client, not to mention scores of other p2p apps. Another stupid patent. I'm currently drafting my patent on "Symbols arranged in an order thereby giving them meaning, and facilitate the exchange of information." Should this break through make me a trillionaire in court by sueing everyone who uses any langauge ever? Our patent system sucks. Microsoft has the click and double click patented.
