I don't expect for flash to become any less annoying and inefficient because of this new release.
Actually the virtual machine in this release of Flash is a complete rewrite. Flash content written for FP8 and earlier runs in a legacy virtual machine - both VMs are included in FP9.
Content written for FP9 runs at least 10 times faster than FP8 content - in some cases up to 50 times faster.
So you might not expect it, but this release is much less inefficient. Less annoying, on the other hand, is up to the content developers.
It's not Apple's fault if other computer makers have PCs and laptops that look ass-tastic and make set designers retch at the thought of sticking them in their movies and TV shows.
The set designers don't decide.
It's called product placement. Apple pays the production company to have their laptops displayed in the movie. Why do you think there's that glowing Apple logo on the lid? Because it looks good?
Show me the Nintendo or Apple advertisement that pretends not to be an advertisement, and you have a point.
What about all the Apple laptops you see in movies and TV shows? It's a fine line between paid (or "donated") product placement and pretending not to be an advertisement in my opinion.
Long answer: How many people in the Ad business do you know that are also hardcore gamers? Not many. In general, advertising people are artists - right brained folks, while gamers tend to be more technical and logical left brainers.
Sorry, but you're wrong. I've worked several jobs in the advertising industry, and half of the creative people in that industry are gamers to some degree. I've worked at companies that have PS2s & X-Boxes in the boardrooms for Friday night gaming sessions. I'm currently working for a multimedia company, and about half of the company are gamers, half again of which are hard-core gamers.
Not only that, but most of my friends are right-brained artistic types, and most of them are also gamers.
Game development itself is primarily a creative task involving large teams of artists. The majority of them are also gamers.
And your last comment implying that artists are poor just shows how ignorant you are. You obviously don't know many artists, or you simply know a lot of bad artists. Most I know are quite successful, and happen to own multiple consoles.
If the PS3 ads suck, it's simply because the people making them aren't doing a good job.
Yeah, but 72% of all statistics are made up on the spot.
That means your post is made up too dumbass!!!
Sorry - I just have a thing for those little joke-over-the-head ascii pictures.;)

Like if I wanted to sort my digital images (with the helpful camera name IMG0030-IMG0090) based on which ones were pictures of my cat? That would be quicker with a CLI?
It would, if you had the appropriate command-line application (namely, one that was capable of recognizing cats in images using computer vision).
Man, I can't wait for someone to write a "do_all_my_work_so_I_can_drink_beer_and_play_plays tation" command-line application.
I'm not intending to pick on one point in your post.. I agree with the rest of what you said. It just irks me when people say that there is no good music available these days. My post is aimed more towards them than you - I just used your point as an example. Having said that...
Maybe whomever is in charge of the music at the stations in my area are lazy.
If you're relying on the guy in charge of the music at the stations in your area to find your music for you, then I suggest you are the lazy one.
Due to the widespread availability of cheap technology - PCs, instruments, recording equipment, etc - there is MORE good music available today than there was 10 or 20 years ago. You just appear to be looking in the wrong place.
And before you ask me to show you where all the good music is, let me remind you...
I think I'll be the one to decide that when it comes to spending my money since this is a highly subjective matter.
Go out there and listen to some internet radio stations. Don't rely on corporations telling you what is good or bad - LISTEN to the music and find what you like. I'm telling you, the music is out there - you're just not looking hard enough.
Sony is going to have a lot of trouble withstanding an attack from Gamera, as not only does he possess great destructive power, but he is also a friend to all children.
I'm aware of the anatomical differences between a crab and a turtle, but could Sony not just flip Gamera on his back and attack his weak point for massive damage?
When I was a kid, two completely separate friends each got me the same card for my birthday.. and they weren't twins - they weren't even RELATED! I thought it was coincidence at the time, but now that you mention it, they must have been communicating TELEPATHICALLY!!!
If you don't want to run the Beta, fine, don't run it. However, to my mind you lose all rights to complain about misfeatures and bugs if you had an opportunity to find and report them, and didn't.
You're kidding right? If I was to pay for Vista (ha ha) and found bugs or misfeatures, I would have no right to complain about them?! You expect me to beta test commercial software on my own time and money before I have the right to complain about bugs in software that I paid for?!
Plus, Internet Explorer is a complete misnomer. It's a web page viewer. Let me know when it can do email, nntp, ssh, sftp/scp, or any of a hundred other typical things you do on the internet.
It's incredibly well named. To most people, the web IS the internet, and IE is the "internet explorer". It's only a misnomer to someone who understands what nntp, ssh, sftp/scp, etc are. That kind of person who does "a hundred other typical things" on the internet is in a tiny majority.
It was probably released too late to make the cut (Xmas 2005), but my vote would go to Lazarus, the complete remake of Ultima 5 using the Dungeon Siege engine.
5 years in the making, all of the original plot, quests, cities, dungeons, NPCs etc, plus some new NPCs and quests. Amazing portrait artwork and breathtaking score including a mix original music and remakes of Ultima soundtrack classics. Plus the mod will be released as open source.

Stop listening to the radio!
Stop watching MTV!
Find your music elsewhere!

The same as it ever was.

Or maybe it was just coincidence.
If I find your nick "Dark Paladin" offensive, will you change it?
Mind you, I'm not defending Sony's ad - in fact I found it a blatant attempt at sensationalism.
Do not eat iGun Pequeña.

They're not stealing anything, after all--they're just copying information.
Maybe we should put the MPAA in charge of the information - then they would be stealing.
Of course, I meant minority. ;)

Yes, it does sound familiar...

Sony has succeeded more times than Microsoft has failed.

It's science fiction, released in 2005, and an awesome game as well.
It is a decent game. To say it's merely a beat-em-up would be unfair, but I guess it is just a beat-em-up. A really good one though.
..they change the acronym to RCS.
Any word on when the Australian CDBaby office will open?
