Office Jerk: "I'd like to 'service' that if you know what I mean...Ha ha--" *Loboobus sneaks up behind him and injects him with Microsoft Nanoprobes XP*
"Young America (tm)" is being desensitized and programmed to accepting this crass consumerism. Children should not have cell phone, GPS tracking devices, RFID chip implants, or event dog collars attached to them. Yet they are told they have to have these things to be protected from danger? What danger? Sure I'll admit there are bad people in this world would take children off the streets and does God knows what to them. But that other 99% of the time is unecessary.
Then there is there sense of music, fashion, and art sense. Children have been conditioned to accept this crap on TV. What music to listen to, because they don't know about free internet radio stations and alternatives other than the iPod. What books to read, because they don't know what else to read outside of Harry Potter and Oprah's Book Club. What ideas are normal and what ideas to think, because they don't know what free will and choice are. Ever since I posted the first message, all I see are sarcastic remarks by anonymous cowards (who's IP addresses should appear like on Wikipedia, IMHO), and people post their subliminal advertisments about how they "don't have a problem with this new phone" or "this calling plan". First off, what does that have to do with this thread? And secondly, do you actually believe that I am that stupid to believe that you are tagging on to this post in support of my message?
You people who have been posting these brand names and company names make me sick. Using my opinions to get a free ride off of my opionion. And that does not settle well with me. Unless I'm getting paid for your name dropping, don't use this thread to sell your crappy products!
"Man, I see in fight club the strongest and smartest men who've ever lived. I see all this potential, and I see squandering. G*d damn it, an entire generation pumping gas, waiting tables; slaves with white collars. Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy sh*t we don't need. We're the middle children of history, man. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our Great War's a spiritual war... our Great Depression is our lives. We've all been raised on television to believe that one day we'd all be millionaires, and movie gods, and rock stars. But we won't. And we're slowly learning that fact. And we're very, very pissed off." --Tyler Durden, Fight Club (1999)
Sorry, but the correct answer is a "Louisville Slugger". When my brother joined the army a couple years ago, some asshat decide he should take his cellphone with him to BT. Drill Sergent took this guy's phone and gave it the Babe Ruth treatment. You can learn alot from the military.
The alternative is to pick up one of those portable signal jammerers like in V for Vendetta.
Oh, I could guess the primary reason we don't see the new Cell Phones or PDAs in the US:
Download the latest ringtones to your cellphone incluidng the Motorcycle Frog and "My Humps" by the Blackeyed Peas. Watch videos and TELEVISION on your cell phone on the nations largest wireless network, blah blah blah and all that bullocks!
The problem is that we don't want that sh*t! We want our cellphones to to be used as tools not toys. Be that adding a camera was a good idea, despite the charges we have to pay for downloading and uploading photos. Heaven forbid we might use a USB cable and download these photos directly or upload our own ringtones that don't suck! Oh, that right, we have to buy [sh*t] music from iTunes.
Personally, I want to tell Ma'Bell to take her phone and shove it where the sone don't shine. Give me something that I can hack and create my own programs on instead of this bubblegum mainstream crap anyday!
I wish I could rate this post, you would get my +1 point. The best thing is to not to be ashamed of yourself. Look at gay people. Some of them don't want to be known that they are gay, while others parade it in the streets. Why not the same with all people? What is there to be ashamed of? That we are not religous or of the same religion as the majority? That we like to do things that most people would not agree with? That we have views and vendettas of or against the government?
The Internet is NOT a tool for snitching or blackballing people. While it can be used to expose the government and to search for criminals, It should NEVER be used to persecute people for being themselves.
Just to screw with the powers that be, being the rebelious jerk I can be, the most of following things below are not true, but just because they are in this post, they will more than likely be on my permantant record.
I'm crazy. Yes, I'm crazy.
I download music and porn on the internet.
I love big butts and I can not lie...you other brothers can't deny...
I get a rise out of abusing animals and small children
I love goth chicks with big boobs.
I love geek chicks with big boobs even more.
I think church sucks and 99% of all the Bible is alot of bullocks. (I use "bullocks" incase you are british and looking to hire me.)
I like football and porno and books about war...I got an average house with an nice hardwood floor...
Throughout highschool I was mistaken for Theodore Kazenski.
I like to make prank phonecalls on payphones
I like to leave little messages on the computers at Best Buy.
90% of all the programming I watch is animated
The other 10% is porn.
I love to be improper when people say that I should.
I like to fool with math that noone understands. Even more when they think I'm going to use it to do something crazy. (Fewlz!)
I like to use science when ever I play pranks. I love the smell of baking soda and vinegar in morning.
I only get 10 minutes of real work done all day. Most of it offline and away from the phone.
I don't like people. It's not that I'm a misanthrope, it's just that I find people are stupid.
I don't give a damn about the TPS reports the big account or your nit picking about how the font isn't just right on my Excel report.
I love talking aloud my thoughts. It makes all the annoying people go away.
Cartoon porn is way more exciting. Especially if it involve anime.
I'd rather be fishing than doing your damn work.
I could be reading a book right now.
I could be causing trouble for the establishment right now.
I'm on atleast two control substances. One of theme is a class IV.
But the most important thing to remember is that I'm crazy.
So when do I start work? See you Monday morning. o_O
According to Wikipedia, Ms. Riley was born in 1985, which makes her about 21. What does Raven Riley do for a living? She is putting herself through college through the power of the Internet...one $2.75/mo at a time. (.)(.);-)
"...except some are more equal than others." --George Orwell, Animal Farm
I suppose the next thing the will want to do is confescate all of our "controband" and "propganda".
If this is the future of America then I suggest a scishim and a sucession from the Imperial American Empire! Save the REAL United States of America from the New World Order.
Why should I relearn everything I that have learned over the past 15 years and devaluate my living conditions because some rich bastard want 7 yachts for Christmas and not 5?
Besides, theres already an ideology of reskilling and downshifting. It's called BUDDISM. As much as I respect the Buddah, I do not wish to be "enlightened" in my income.
For some reason, I've always felt out of the loop when it came to what I wanted from my education and what my school thought of education.
School is no longer a place of learning. It is a business. Church is no longer a place of spiritual revival. It is a business. Anyone whose idea of merging these two entities the same way two businesses combine in a corporate merger, is leading that school and church are the same thing and therefore violate church and state.
For some reason both of these "businesses" no longer support a need for math, science, English, history, or liberal arts.
They only want to tell you everything about math that allows you to make money...for someone else.
They only want to tell you everything about science that does not involve the idea of evolution, chemistry, or physics. ("Christains don't believe in gravity.") They want you to follow the ideas and the believes that were instilled during a time when their was no sciene because sciene involves individual thinking, which just about every fundie xian believes that the idea fo individiual thought leads to "delinquency" and "sin". If you've played the Religion Game, reguardless if you are Christian, Muslim, or Jew, you've no doubted have been told everything that you do is a sin and an even greater sin if you do not "donate [money] to the church" or "Read [books other than] the Bible"
Then there is that emphasis on English. Rather than encouraging kids to read the classics and mondern literature, they want you to read artzy crap that does not generate ideas based on these novels unless it is a book that is marketable enought to be made into a movie. (See the last paragraph and refer to Harry Potter for example.) Then they teach grammar in such a way that you have the Grammar Nazis who troll forums correcting and scoulding people for making typos.
Here is the real kicker: HISTORY. I must have been forced this Anne Frank crap in the seventh grade, eighth grade, nineth grade, tenth grade, eleventh grade, twelfth grade, and freshman year of college. I do not deny that the holocaust existed however, I've I have to read the freaking diary of Anne Franke one more time I will go postal! What about people who WEREN'T Jewish or atleast Jewish Scientists (i.e. Einstien). Why can't we study about relevant history, like this New World Order and New American Century that these half-assed history teachers are trying to force down our throats? I've come to the realization that history is bias. If anything it is not history at all, especially when they pull this "Israel should be a country." I don't think so, Rabbi! If I want to be taught history, I want it to NOT be kosher! I want to hear stories about how America f***ed up more than it succeeded. We are NOT the greatest country on this planet nor are we going to be here forever. Look at Rome for example. Look at howmany dynasties China went throught.
If I want to know something I want to learn about it! Not the soft happy stories, but the cold aweful truth!
I'm tired of been treated like a ewe in a flock of sheep or some drone that obeys a queen in a hive. I am a human being damnit!
If you want to be creative, you have to self educate yourself. Know the truth and know yourself!
I concur. I mean, if Google is such a threat, why isn't one of the twenty-five corporations that Adbusters is cracking down on?
This is just big business creating a fear of Google because it promotes free products and services as well as supporting a business model for relevant products. When I come here to/. I prefer to see Google Adwords show me things like "250MB of free web space" or "I hate Jack Thompson T-shirts at ThinkGeek", none of this "FR33 C|A1|5" leet speek that causes click fraud that these other companies have been using to make Google look like the next Microsoft.
Google is not Microsoft!
The guys at google are trying very hard not to be the next Microsoft but when you have bogus news stories published by capitalist yellow journalism publications (BusinessWeek, Fortune, Forbes, Money, etc.) it's hard to fight off these people who pose as the culture jammers when the real culture jammers have no problem with Google yet.
I totally agree that this is corporate disinformation!
You mean Biiiiiiiizzzzzzzaaaaaarrrrrrrrrroooooooooo!!!!! O_o;-)
Anyway, That does sound like a good idea. I mean, they average big business man has as much respect for the white collar worker as he does with blue collar workers. To add on to of that, exporting jobs to countries they know the people will not object or have the free will to unionize and stand up against their shortchanging employers.
I say America should do the same thing as the Austrialian. RISE and UNITE!
You know what would really shut these a**holes up: A cute fussy Care Bears video game. However, three months after it is released, a cheat code is leaked out onto the Internet where the Care Bears collectively engage in an explict group orgy that ends in wanton violence!
And just to make it so very explict, it will be marketed by Jack Thomspon and include a videogame reinactment of the Columbine Massacre combined with the movie Deep Throat.
I am one can short of a six pack! LOL!
/They're coming to take me away! Ha! Ha! They're coming to take me away! Ha! Ha! Ho! Ho! He! He!
Apple iTunes is very one sided. It appeals more to the manstream than the underground and obscure. A good example of this would be Industrial Rock. Sure they might have Nine Inch Nails and Marylin Manson, but search for anything in the genre outside of that and you will find yourself sincerely dissappointed. There are a few songs by an EBM group called Mesh that seem to be lost in Europe right now as Apple continues to fellate to the RIAA music cartel.
Personally, I wish some of my English textbooks were in eBook format. I love eBooks! There are even eBook sites where content is ported such that you can view them from a PDA, IPOD, or in my case PSP! (Horray for Portable Nut!)
However, since I am a computer science major, and my work around computers has developed a short attention span interms of reading the great classics and modern literature, read becomes a slow process outside of my computer nerd habitat, unless it is a Calculus or Physics book.
Maybe it is the fact that English teachers make read as about as exciting as going to some fancy art-house event. As much as I respect those things, I am about as uncouth as a redneck at an opera performance.
I have to take English to graduate college, however just about every English teacher has taught english in a way most English majors look at computer science.
Sure I would be interested in reading about Swift, Pope, and Keats. But my instructors have taugh it in such a way its like I should have read alot of other literature before I signed up for the class. However, as a Computer Science major, it is hard for me to keep up with those more tuned into English Literature.
I feel that puting more books, espeically English textbooks, in eBook format would make things more comprehensive and easier to read. It would allow readers who are more into techincal fields to better understand the subject of English literature, which for about a few weeks now I have just skimmed through.
"I wasted time, and now doth time waste me." --William Shakespeare.
For about a few months now, OpenGL has not been working propery on my system. I don't know if it is the screensaver or the entire OpenGL program. (Kind of busy working with assembly language right now to care about creating a C/C++ OpenGL program to test if it is all of OpenGL.)
Anyone else having problems or a solution to this?
(For now I've turned off all screensavers. So don't send me "Well turn off screensavers.")
This is definitely one step towards the right direction. (Take notes Microsoft! Here's where you get schooled!) I just hope it doesn't turn Blogger into Google Page Creator (which oddly enough for a Google application sucks).
While Writely gets settle in, whats the status on the Google Calendar?
It is so very sad that the PDA market has tanked. I had such high hopes for PDAs especially since when I was younger, I wish I had this technology to help me through school.
But alas, the corporations have had their way with PDAs, slowly poisioning the PDA market as they nutured the iPod, PSP, and Blackberry. Dear Palm and Ipaq, Clie, Zaurus, and Newton, your shall not have died and been forgotten as the underground will preserve the legacy and never forget the importance of these portable devices. This technology will rise again, despite the dumbing down of technology and all those who use them.
Besides, why the hell would anyone bring their collection of 2LiveCrew MP3s and watch television at a business meeting?
