Will the US DS play my PAL DS games? This is perfect for Christmas (for me) but other wise it may pass by (my birthday is Jan 31st is other option).
I can't live without my GBA but I don't want to buy the Gameboy V3.0 (which seems to be the selling point to most people) more then once or have to import everything to the sunshine island of England.
Bit torrent will have these ASAP. I've never read or heard Hitchhikers (yes I know, I'm sorry please forgive me I give up my geek status), but I plan to do so tonight. I can get radio 4 here (I'm in the UK) and I may even record it on TV (TV gets radio with satalite).
Is there an online option or any news of a CD/cassete release in the near future though?
Very nice but it may effect electrical equipment in places like hospitals and such. Now while it maybe useful in a place like that as anything but a gimmick it seems a bad idea to try it in any serious numbers.

The BBC is funded by people paying a licence to watch TV in the UK (it is illegal not to have one and watch TV in your place of residences). Now 99% of these people arn't geeks and won't use a codec, why are they paying for it?
I've tried it again every coule of months and EVERY FUCKING TIME it crashs when it gets to the TFC loading screen. The only FPS game I've wanted to play lately and now WON is gone I can't.
Steam is just a very queer (not insulting, queer as in weird) program. More people seem to have trouble then people who find it work well.

I'd much rather have a nice CD/DVD in my hand with the install on then a little code (which I could lose) to let me spend hours downloading it.
I'm trying not to sound like a troll but I really see no sane reason to download HL2 through steam and not just buy the damn CD. Preloading makes sense (install it faster) but why not get a nice shiney CD?
Why do we HAVE to look at numbers? just kill all the PCs which have been turned "undead" and move onto the sequal already. Quoting numbers and writing down names is all fine and dandy but it's not preventing it.
Force people to install security updates or sell the PCs with them all pre installed and make windows update automaticly run once a month.
Install some open source virus scanners and such the same way. Make sure it is CLEARLY labeled that the PC will automaticly update all these files the first of each month by an update program. As and when possible (AKA soon aspossible).
Tell the people it will prevent viruses, make things faster and generally help things. Is it really that difficult?
My home tutor (ex now) once had two students (twins) who spoke their own language. Their parents never corrected their poor English and it evolved to the point where no one knew what they were saying.
Now think of how much of a nightmare it is for them to communicate with others, since no one but them understands the language they can't teach others it.
Taking a car and cloning a file is VERY different.
A car is an object I possess. A file on a network is just data. I don't harm their copies so why can't I have my own without paying a HUGE mark up for them?
I don't pirate games because I believe they are worth the money, but I won't buy a CD because I don't think it's worth it. Give me something for my money and I'm happy to hand it over.
The RIAA and such are just greedy now, a perfect example is Nelly's new "albums". It's basicly an album split in half and sold twice. They are used to getting away with pulling crap like this and we're just ment to take it?

I'm so sick of companies wanting to push off their crap onto us. If I want something from them they should offer it me on terms I find acceptable.
In this case a couple of text links which may intrest me (Google refrence : check).
I don't want to have to share my bandwith with 50 other people so they can do the same. If you want to run a service, website or game server you should pay for it. Don't start passing off the bandwith bill onto us users.

Totally agree, but thats why you use both. You can put untrained police (AKA office workers/call center staff) on the cameras and put more police officers in the areas which need them.
UK has this in most cities and it help solves hundreds of crimes and is used quite often on Crime watch (A VERY sucessful police program which shows serious crimes they need help with).
All the tinfoil hatters will complain about this but I'd much rather have it then not. I'm not doing anything illegal in the areas (at home.. well thats another matter) and if I got assaulted or raped for example they would have CCTV evidence and I wouldn't have to prove anything because the camera would of done it for me.
Simplely put, being watched walking into a couple of shops doesn't harm anyone but it can help out in alot of crimes and missing person cases.

First time I used firefox (AKA Phoniex then), I was rather worried that it took about 10 seconds to load on my PC (IE was instant) but then everything ran fine. I played a little (slashdot and all the usual hang outs trying everything) and found tabbed browsing was just far too useful for a 56ker to even think about going back to IE. As time went by I learnt of the extentions and everything just improved (Hey I can plat tetris as I let stuff load, that alone makes it worth it). Now I refuse to use anything but Firefox and I attempt to convert anyone who says they use IE to me and have the brains to understand the benefits (AKA dont try and teach 12 year old girls who can only use AIM, it's not worth the hassle and waste of time).
Then again live journal has always been a place of annoyance for me... so I'm biast.. so I'll stick to slashdot journals where it's not all moaning about their family and 'friend (like we have them).
I could of swore a few years ago a friend told me about alternative rocket launching abilities. She lived in some hot desert place in America (Texas maybe..) and said they used compressed air or something similar to launch rockets because black power was too dangerous in the heat.

These are where the major problem is. I've read new stories where young girls have snuck them into school and took pictures of other girls undressing before P.E. (Gym). Posted them on their website and ta dar, instant embrassment, shame and nothing the girl can do about it (due to them knowing so little about the internet).
People will bully any way they can, the internet is just a vechile. As soon as we find a new geek medium (where we can pretend to be women on an IRC like place), it'll happen there to.
