  1. HP= bad on HP Recall on 900,000 Notebooks · · Score: 4, Interesting

Every time I've bought an HP product I've regreted it. I even got one of their dvd burners for a mere $99 year before last (when they were ~$300 normally) and then when it broke only 3 weeks after I bought it they said it wasn't covered under warrenty. They claimed that it was covered for 1 year or until they decide the product is obsolete and no longer will be supported. Even though i'd just bought it they had decided it was too long to support any longer dispite the fact that it was still on store shelves. Then last year I got a HP 935 digital camera as a gift. It was a good little camera except for one thing. The batteries only lasted about 2-3 picutres at a time. You could wait for the amperage to build back up between sets of 2-3 pictures (usually a few minutes) but thats totally unacceptable to most people. Terrible designs and business decisions like these have destroyed any support I had left for HP. I know it's HP-Compaq now but hell would freeze over before I buy anything off them.

i read a shitty book about somthing like that once. And the book was serious heh. While the whole 2nd ocean thing is retarded the idea that very large sea life could go unnoticed isnt that far fetched. Giant squid have yet to be video taped or witnessed except in larve form (when they are near the surface). The adults are 40-60 feet long and we've never found more than the bits and pieces that wash up on shore when they come near the surface to breed. Now imagine something like that which never comes to the surface. We'd never fucking know about it. Theres also that fish we thought was extinct like 20 million years ago then they caught some off africa and california. I'm sure theres lots of crazy shit left to be discovered and probally several speices we think are extict that are still puttering around somewhere.

as an ocean engineer I feel compelled to point out that exploring the depths of the ocean is an assload harder than exploring space. Accordingly we've explored far less of it than space. Technologies are advancing but most of them are directed towards making existing technologies more efficient. We really don't have any improvments for reaching really deep areas and are still using technology pioneered in the 70s.

I was under that impression to. I'm wondering if they're playing around with this to try to devolop some robust code for use in future missions where transmision times would make direct intervention impracticle. I know they didn't have any worth a crap when we put that little Sojunour(sp?) rover on mars and it was a big hassle to control. The same code used in this could easily be used in sats that we send to orbit other planets (at least to "do i take a picture" part) and depending on how it's written it could probally be used on a rover. Me thinks this is just a field test of sorts.

He even said the dudes name isn't that unusual and yes there are large buildings to swing around from in India's big cities. He figured they'd probally give it an antinuclear swing too for the "radioactive spider" part. Spiderman was always about ambiguity and with all the class destintions and cultural limits in Indian society I expect they can make it fairly interesting. Given how ravenous a lot of eastern countries are for classic US culture like this I'd expect it to do fairly well. Having Spiderman fight demons seems like a big far fetched to me but we'll see how it goes.

I finally acted like I wasn't gunna buy it because I didn't want to deal with it and got him to suddenly remember it didn't work like that. I understand working retail in an electronics store must be hell but seriously the computer department employees at best buy are generally fucking retards. They need to be more interested in compedative pricing than mornic "free services" and "warrenty extentions". I can save about 30-40% off the regular best buy price just by going to newegg.com and I don't have to pay tax. For almost any electronics product thats pretty significant savings, at least in Texas (8.75% sales tax).

we're talking about the scene as a whole though. I'll grand last exile was orignal but I think the only reason a lot of people like it is because of how crappy a lot of the other animes are. I didn't like any of those other series you posted. It's much like the video game industry over there I imagine. For every 2-3 good titles that are being devoloped into anime we get at least 10 awful ones and mere business and marketing majors are the ones making decisions. I have no doubt this is only a passing trend as the market will self correct once they realize heaps of shit don't sell the same as a few polished products but it'll take time. There is no way anime is "finished" but it's going to tough for new artists pretty soon.

well to be honest what series in recent memory have been close to the classics like cowboy bebop? The only series I can think of that are worth watching are Ghost In The Shell Stand Alone Complex and Gundam:Seed. Both are simply continuations of an already successful theme. The only semi orignal anime to come out that hasn't sucked was Hellsing and the maker had ment for it to be another lame comedyish action anime and he was pissed when they went for a dark themed anime (thats why there was no 2nd season despite high ratings). Most anime now is "guy somehow gets involved with hot chics and falls in love" or "reluctant hero samurai joints underage girls to avenge some past wrong". Look at the older anime series and they were a lot more open to doing new ideas and themes where as most the thigns now days try to ride on the coattails of an already successful series.
