And, as a disclaimer, I also own Elebits in addition to Zelda and Rayman. But I do agree with most of what you say. The old addage applies, "the only difference between men and boys is the price of their toys." I may not play with toy trucks anymore, but I definitely drive one!

They come in to your house with spare keys that he had made for them at Home Depot, and pick up some crack. The cops then find out that your house was where everyone was getting this crack from.

Maybe you were asleep, or playing a solitaire at the kitchen table, or maybe doing your taxes in the office. but you're home the whole time. Not that you're any more liable than in your example, but the fact is the crack is being hidden somewhere in your house the whole time.

I once attempted to show my passport at a bar when I had a temporary (paper, not very official looking) license when I moved to a new state. Despite being 23, and a passport being a legally recognized document that is much harder to fake than a driver's license, they refused to accept it. It does verifies my age, but it wasn't a driver's license and they wouldn't take it. These were actual police officers checking ID at the door, as well! I would have expected it from some punk kid who's job it was to man the door, but not from police officers.

Of course, at this same bar another time, they wouldn't let a friend of mine in because his driver's license had expired. His license (Indiana) expires on your 21st birthday, and he was out on the town trying to enjoy his first beer in a bar. I fail to understand how an expired (that day) license is not valid as far as providing proof of age. Maybe an expired license is bad if you're driving a car, but not if you're just trying to get a beer.

Even the Xbox is only in its 2nd generation. Nintendo is entering its 5th console generation, and there were at least two other generations of consoles before Nintendo entered the fold.

Sony and MS seem to be pushing the fact that their console can also be used as, say, an easy-bake oven or something like that, as if its the feature to die for, completely ignoring the fact that it just happpens to be a game system, too.

I think its good that these things are included, like you say, but its more like icing on the cake rather than the cake itself. Remember, we're buying a console not a media center.

Either way, the N64 launched with some fantastic games. Super Mario 64 was literally off the shelves for weeks. The argument here is that PS3 is not only going to cost $600, but that nothing worthwhile will accompany it on launch day. Unless some fantastic new game is announced between now and November, many people simply don't see a reason to buy it opening day.

What, like the titles announced for the Wii? Or titles that are currently coming out for the 360? This entire piece read like a fanboy article in favor of Sony. Not just a pro-Sony article, but a fanboy's glossy-eyed stare. The only concrete evidence given for why the author thinks the PS3 will win out or at least do well is because he wants it to. Hell, the Wii is also six months out, but consumers aren't waiting for its elite list of games, because those games are already announced.

Also, his 18-month claim seems to backfire for him. He claims that Sony won E3 2005, but then goes on to say that 18-months later the real E3 champion is realized? I hate to break it to him, but 18-months after E3 2005 is PS3 launch day, and if Sony wasn't the real winner a year ago, who will be the real winner in November 2006?

Nintendo isn't a consideration because I sometimes like to play games that DO NOT look like an anime comic book or a child's cartoon.

That is a weak argument, because most Nintendo games do not look like anime comic books or children's cartoons, and even if they did there would be plenty others that don't which you could buy. And getting "nickeled and dimed" for upgrades isn't even a requirement, because you already bought the game, like you said. I'm sure that PS3's online system will offer for-pay downloads just like Live does, regardless if the online service is free for multiplayer. Either way, a few nickels and dimes wont add up to the extra few hundred dollar premium of the PS3 over the Xbox and Wii... But since you're swayed by new-fangled chip thingies, then I understand why you'd want to get a PS3.

While I'm sure that is what Sony wants, but is that what Sony is going to get? I know people who already have an Xbox360, and people who plan on getting a Wii to compliment it, and not even considering the expensive PS3. If anything, those who haven't bought one yet will buy an XBox and a Wii in the fall when all three are out, and presumably when the Xbox drops in price. The price of 360 + Wii almost equals PS3.
