The CONgressMEN have sold us (US?) out, now they're selling out what they don't own, the electromagnetic spectrum. Is this a fire sale where everything must go?
Don't you folks in the USA "preach" to the world that you've got the "greatest" democracy?
Judge Colin Birss, rules in favor of Volkswagon to ban Flavio Garcia, a computer scientist, from revealing details about 'Wirelessly Lockpicking a Vehicle Immobiliser' at USENIX in August.
How about if it "turns out" that this fella Flavio Garcia wasn't doing research alone, and that members of his team would want to "leak" the details on torrent sites?
We could still get them, no?
By the way, who believes that the fella Flavio Garcia, is the only fountain of knowledge on the matter?
I mean, seriously! Tim Cook should know that one size cannot fit all. It's for that very reason that I, for example, never liked and probably will never be impressed by Apple's "tiny" phones.
Their walled garden doesn't help matters either. Result? I do other things whenever they launch another product. And I'm not alone.
...I live along the equator where our days and nights ar "equal" throughout the year.
Trouble is that most Europeans I have met on my travels think it's hot hot hot at the equator, which isn't the case. In fact, their summers, which are responsible for some deaths among the elderly and young ones, are way hotter than the hottest day at home.
When I say this, they won't believe it until I remind them that we are at a higher elevation which is cooler...just like the clouds.
This Ad skipping technology can be defeated by keeping: -
1: Avoiding abrupt volume increases, 2: Avoiding abrupt changes in scene colour saturation, 3: Keeping the network logo on during commercials, 4: Randomly playing commercials. I have come to be in position to predict when a commercial is coming on.
Someone should develop the tech...or even better, patent it.
Google is now 25% of the North American traffic...
I have never been a CEO, an probably will never be, but what I wanted to know is what exactly goes on in a CEO's mind (say Steve Ballmer), once a statistic/detail like this is outed.
While I applaud the engineer's efforts, I wish his employer (Google), would spend a bit more of resources in making its maps aplication more functional [for me].
Here's my gripe, and I am not alone:
Why is it that there's no way to make routing avoid toll roads by default?
I have got a solution: I use Waze but worried that if Google's ambitions with it (Waze) go through, they may disable this feature.
You sometimes wonder why things so basic, take so long to implement. Why?
I have an answer: Not the United States, for we outsourced serious commercial ship building, like most critical industries, to "third world" countries, whose sysyetms aren't as advanced or sophisticated as ours...
Oh wait...wasn't there a fire on the recently overhauled Dreamliner? Wait a second...it's also American built!
If I were Google, I'd bankroll efforts to develop software that would change MS office's default file formats to "something sensible", in addition to championing efforts to have this capability enabled in every office installation. That would surely produce interesting responses.
Google didn't need Waze. This is a purchase to keep Waze out of Microsoft or Apple's hands. They won't admit it but It must be painful for Microsoft because they are a Waze investor.
The findings could help explain why cultural immersion is the most effective way to learn a foreign tongue and why immigrants who settle within an ethnic enclave acculturate more slowly than those who surround themselves with friends from their new country."
And this needed a study? Well, I where I come from, our samll country has over 66 tribes; each one of them with a different language and custom. Guess what; I fluently speak 11 of those with no difficulty at all.
I even speak English better than those who have it as their first language (grammarvwise). I also learnt German, Mandarin and Spanish faster than any students in my class. As a result, I got the reward[s] of mingling with the fairer gender easily (and reaped the rewards!!), while fellow students from the so called 1st world were grassing. No neeed for a study here. It is obvious.
I decided to cut my loss and move on, I am not looking for a fight or any unnecessary heartache.
That's where you lost the battle. If this work is truly yours, there's usually a way to prove. I mean, I can read code and tell who dveloped it -- from the style. I mean, you could even point to older work you've done.
I just don't understand how you can let a fella claim ownership to work that's truly yours. You could at least do half a SCO...I mean, at least attempt to sue the fella.
Should the community not expect that core Java classes are fully functional and accurate?
That's capitalism at work. Now maybe Google can come to the rescue by re-implementing all Java APIs in Dalvik (Android), after which they (Google), can push for wider desktop/server Dalvik adoption.
Steve Ballmer himself has recently declared that he was unhappy with the number of tablets Microsoft has managed to sell.
Can someone please pass the message on to Steve Ballmer that being unhappy isn't a strategy for business growth?

I think it's in order to revise this mantra, no?
I ask because to me, such exensive upgrades are of no consequence if tragedies like Katrina will still take place and get responded to the way we did.
And we clearly dropped the ball by exhibiting [our] sheer incompetence to the world.

What really goes on in a mind like his?

Where was it built?

Not so fast! All MS has to do is to tweak Google's targeted file formats. It's worked in the past... don't see why it won't work yet again.
If I were Google, I'd bankroll efforts to develop software that would change MS office's default file formats to "something sensible", in addition to championing efforts to have this capability enabled in every office installation. That would surely produce interesting responses.
Let me answer that:

I guess there will be plenty of folks who will say something to the effect, "I know what porn is when I see it."
Question is: Whose eyes will decide this question?
And who asked the chimps if they wanted to be used in medical experiments?
Troll!
And how [exactly], would they do that?
Why not if they are happier than the so called developed ones?"
Is it prejudice, no?
They do it well.

Didn't they tell us that Android, being Linux based is very very safe compared to anything we'd ever seen?
Question is: Were we lied to or those who were talking about ths subject just didn't know what they were talking about?
...It's impressive how they were able to fuck up such a good application...
Are you a sadist? How can those two words in the same sentence? (emphasis mine...)
It was clean and largely uncluttered and generally got out of my way.
While I will not dispute this fella's findings, I wonder whether GNOME by default, is a pleasure to look at.
That is, is it beautiful? The last time I checked (3 years ago), it was one ugly piece of software, though it generally got work done.
He should inform the honorable judge that he's forgotten the decryption parameters or whatever they are called.
This way, he puts the ball back into their court. That is, to prove that he indeed still remembers these parameters.
That will be a tough one to prove.
