I would say the main reason I use Firefox is because it's not MSIE. Not that I have anything too major against MSIE, except for the fact that it's the main target of all web based attacks.
Don't make me switch again, Keep msie and firefox seperate.
Guess what, Companies ARE ONLY INTERESTED IN YOUR MONEY. Business people don't have meetings to try and decide what will make their customers happier at the end of the day, they have meetings to find out how to get more of the customers money. If any company says they don't do this, they're lying. Google is the only exception (for now).
I actually had somebody browse my company's site on Lynx just this past weekend, It is currently holding the coveted position of "last place" with an astonishing 2 hits. A close competitor is the WebTV browser, with 3 hits.
"Also, if you're not allowed to make negative comments about people on the Internet, then about 98% of all blogs ever written would be in violation of the law."
You do know the difference between a negative comment and libel, don't you?
libel:
1. A false publication, as in writing, print, signs, or pictures, that damages a person's reputation.
2. The act of presenting such material to the public.
"Reason number three: Linux doesn't have enough applications Really now. I mean, most Linux systems only come with secure Web browsers, like Firefox; e-mail clients, like Evolution; IM clients, like GAIM; office suites, like OpenOffice.org 2.0; Web page editors, like Nvu; and on, and on, and..."
This may be all fine and dandy, however, what about the games? I, and I'm sure many others, don't own a computer just to sit and do work on it. Games. If you ask me, that's the single biggest thing holding Linux back from being installed on many more systems.
Get into the hardxcore music scene and you will see artists who are actually passionate about thier music, artists that don't sing just to get laid, they sing for the love of the music, and to get laid.
They would never do that. At least, not while they have an office suite of their own. OpenOffice is a serious threat to Microsoft Works Suite.
That would be like Microsoft saying, "If you like Windows, why not try Linux? It's free and we don't mind losing extraordinary amounts of money as a result!"

Please tell me how telephones are not electronic, I'm very interested to hear your answer.
Do you pay for cable or satellite tv? If yes, then you are actually paying a monthly fee for a service that comes filled with advertisements.
No, I don't have a tv.
Please understand, it is entirely up to the content provider and/or distributor to decide to put advertisements in their content. In this case, their game.
Yes, thier game that I wont buy as a result of the video advertisements.
Unless you are specifically paying for content under an agreement that there will be no advertisements in it (which you're not) you have no right to complain.
I have a right to complain about whatever the hell I want. I live in America.
True, but with television, VHS, and DVD, these aren't things that are multipurpose, as in a sense that your computer's hard drive is multipurpose. If a company puts advertisements on DVD movie that I purchase or rent, It doesn't bother me, because, well, what else could they have put on the DVD besides thier movie and a few extras?
I think advertisements shouldn't be shoved down your throat. I think they should be like they are in a lot of anime dvds, as in, they are accessed by a menu, not shown right before the movie, so you watch them if you want to know more or see whats new.
So, basically what you're saying is that the 40 gb hard drive I have now will be filled up with advertisements? And furthermore, shouldn't I be able to have a game that's free of advertisements, seeing as I allready paid $49.95 for the game?
I don't think so.

I have my own conspiracy theories about google, I just think they think of the customer's money just as much as the customer.
*goes back to playing chess*

I second that, you COCKSMOKING FUCKER!
Don't use so many caps. It's like YELLING.

no.
Possibly. But I doubt it.

don't forget, that's from the even-keyboard-typing-class-adccess-won't-make-it-e asy dept.
It's a dupe!!
"Games have been played on computers long before consoles existed."
You're completely right. And by completely right, I mean completely wrong.
Actually, as much as I hate McDonalds food (for christ sake, they can't even do ketchup right), they do, however, use real beef.
Metallica blows dead bears, old stuff or new.

That place is probably full of super leet garbage files!

>IIRC M$ has been in the map business for a long time.
That still doesn't change the fact that Microsoft copied Google's idea of making satellite imagery available for free on the internet.
I don't have a tv or a tivo, and I don't watch sports, besides, those are quite different, seeing as those are SERVICES and not GOODS.
Video Game = A GOOD. You'll always have it unless you sell it.
Cable = A SERVICE. If you don't pay every month, you lose the service.
I play Guild Wars. No monthly fees, no advertisements. :-)
Yes, thier game that I wont buy as a result of the video advertisements.

No doubt, man. Those 50 Ginsu knife sets I put up a while ago surely would've sold if I put them on ebay AND slashdot!
Wow, good point. I guess sometimes I forget that my company's prices are really low.
