Damn! Haha, you are totally right- I forgot about that caveat. Oh well, the odds of me getting points are low, so it'll probably turn out to be much ado about nothing!
I do not think that species should exist forever, but when they are needlessly wiped out by the relatively unnatural forces of pollution and dam-building, I believe that extinction to be unjust. They cannot adapt because human beings are changing the planet in a much faster manner than ever before known- faster than the previous "big five" extinction events.
Even though I believe that the baiji did not need to "serve a purpose" for humans in order to survive, they did indeed serve one by being appreciated as a unique and curious creature for thousands of years.
Given John Carmack's recent statement of support for in-game adverts, it will not surprise me to see a gorgeous, mipmapped, mega-textured plug for Coke® or a Hummer® in id's next title.
You're not alone. I enjoy the Marathon games much more than Halo. After ten years, they still beat most first person shooters when it comes to storytelling, including their spiritual successors.
We got warned back in August (sort of)

Doom Movie Update

Todd Hollenshead: We didn't tie the script to the specific story in the game. There are lots of similarities, but there are many things that are different in a way that's not inconsistent with what we've done in the games. I believe that fans will find the story in the movie fresh and exciting, but still very much DOOM.
Since rights are being increasingly infringed in today's world, it is admirable that these abuses are being reported. People need to know. If these reports don't quite fit the category "My Rights Online", then so be it.
I'd have to say the strangest place I've read Slashdot from was Yokkaichi City in Japan at around 2:00 AM two weeks ago. Not too exotic compared to some people around here. (Tibet, Antarctica... *envious*)

Same feeling here. If I get points in the next 24 hours, the first one I will use will to be to mod nomadic's post up.
The proper term is "its." "It's" is an abbreviation for "it is," while "its" signifies that "it" possesses something.
Don't you mean a little different *than* America? Last time I checked, New Zealand still used proper English grammar.
What does the morass in Iraq have to do with Darfur, Burundi, and DR Congo?

Because some people respect the diverse forms of life on Earth today and see them as worth protecting.
TASTE THE FLAMES OF SULFURON!
Yes.
It's not theft, it's copyright infringement.

It's "We're the Time Haters," get it right!

Might these be the differences he mentioned?
(but look at the banners at the top and right of the the slashdot page you nit)
;)
What banners?
...and the home of mega-conglomerates who sue their customers despite record sales!
A search engine now indexes more web pages than there are members of the human race.
Oh man, I've been waiting for a game in the true tradition of System Shock for ages. Tomorrow's going to be interesting :)
I'd pay for a service like this. Not too expensive, and keeping me safe from RIAA/MPAA attacks.

My feelings exactly. If they were to sell the new version of the original Matrix DVD seperately, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.
