The movie rating system is a perfect example of 'parental controls' gone bad. That being said, it seems that lately, most of the computer based parental controls are being done correctly, and are not being used to control the adults. I find that I am becoming more comfortable with them being implemented because I have been able to completely turn them off. If I can turn them off, then they actually become beneficial to me, as it neuters complaints that someone elses kid might get corrupted.

The only problem with that is that a lot of people that now get A s and feel they earned it, would be getting A s if it were not for the teachers "cheating".

That kind of comment is a total cop out. If you believe that the rule of law is so profound that you just don't break it, then you must condemn Gandhi. If you don't condemn Gandhi, then you must concede that there are times when breaking the law is still the right thing to do. Your attempt at distancing the two by claiming that there is system in place in the US for change, is a poor argument at best. If you consider "The trick is getting enough people to understand the issues and vote accordingly." to be a valid argument, then the same can be said for Gandhi. The difference is that Gandhi only had to convince a handful of people instead of the millions that would be required in the US. That is if you believe that voting even works on anything that has big money implications. Heck, Gandhi might well have succeeded in getting the law changed by convincing just Winston Churchill.

Of course, if you want to limit it to the US, then you also must condemn every single person involved with the Underground Railroad. Are you prepared to call Harriet Tubman a villain?

It sounds more like you just don't really want a service like streaming Netflix for games, but that you want a service that is dramatically better than Netflix, and do not accept service levels similar to Netflix for your gaming.

** It is true that many of the older games download so fast that the whole thing gets downloaded faster than Netflix can start playing it's stream, so those games do get downloaded completely before play.

Ok, since you seem a little dense, here is the Irony. You said:

Pretending to misunderstand the concept of carbon output so you can make fun of the other side is not a good way to resolve this argument. Actually misunderstanding the concept of carbon output means you should think carefully about why you're so confident that you understand the situation better than climatologists. You can decide which of those two you were doing in your comment.

This is in response to pointing out that a media whore claimed that you can have "Zero carbon output". Notice I did not say "Net zero carbon output". There is a HUGE difference between the two. You obviously are pretending to misunderstand the concept, or are actually misunderstanding the concept. Thus, your doing exactly what you are accusing me of in the prior post. Hence, by definition, "IRONY".

This becomes even more pronounced when you bring up climatologists, as I was not discussing the opinions of climatologists. I was making fun of the completely absurd statement made by a media whore. So, again, you are either "Pretending to misunderstand the concept" or are "Actually misunderstanding the concept".

The final bit of irony is:

And that everyone somehow overlooked this massive absurdity, until you finally pointed out in a web forum that the emperor has no clothes?

Does it really need to be explained to you how defending a statement that you can reduce your carbon output to zero while at the same time claiming that the other individual is "Pretending to misunderstand the concept" or is "Actually misunderstanding the concept"? And hence the very definition of IRONY?
