This product made me think: 1) What if I want listen to my music when I'm in the dark? 2) What if I need sunglasses when I don't want to listen to music? 3) Why Would I want to lug something on my head that I could carry in my pocket or on my belt?
For me the next generation MP3 player isn't so much a player but a few USB ports in my car. If done right any MP3 player would work with my car stereo, my phone and PDA could be charged w/out a cumbersome power adaptor, and I would only need to keep a few cables in my car.
Well, now that I have more money than you ever will EVER, and now that I can afford life, and lots of toys, and even an accoridan I can play just to tick off my nebors, It feels GREAT!
Right now I do have a few software programs I use for research that sadly only work in windows(ok, and CivII), but other than that I can do everything I need in Linux. It's stable, it's fun to work with, and it 'just works'.
I think it would be cool if they announced that this patent would never EVER be enforced. They only took out the patent to protect themselves from some troll-company pulling an SCO, and they would be very happy if every one viewed this as copy-left material.
I doubt it will happen, but if that was there plan it would make me prefer them above all other online retailers..
...and Pirates all go deaf, can't think, and slink away.
All joking aside, that's kind of cool. I know I run from any irritating noise. I wonder if the same weapon could be used to stop rioters, or other civic disturbances. It could, in theory, prove cheaper and cleaner than tear-gas, tazers, or foam.
Great point. "Natural Gas" = methane, and the world abounds with lots of ways to get methane. Anamel waste, industrial food proccessing waste, human waste, compost, land-fill exc. To harvest this methane would (a) be good for the environment and (b) in the long run, make my car cheaper to run than it is now.
That is true, there are some very nice digital SLR's on the market. I would not mind owning one. But my favrote camera is a real film 35mm SLR. To get a digital camera that came close it would cost me over $800 (last time I checked)
Also digital prints are the same price as film+printing. Regelur prints work during a power out, and I can get digital scans for free with devlopment. So, for the time being, I'm getting the best of both worlds.
Aneway, the camera you have is very nice, and I do want one, but I doubt it will ever be my primary.
My 35mm SLR has never given me a problem. For any one looking to give up digital and buy a real camera I recomend a Pentax zx50, I love mine. It's going on 8 years old; I've dropped it, banged it, sat on it, left it on for days at a time, and it still works. The thing I like most about film is that it doesn't have a delay. I hate geting a picture set up, snapping the 'shutter' and then waiting, only to find out that the camera took the picture a second too late.
I know, I'm trolling, and I'm off topic. But FILM BEATS DIGITAL ANY DAY! HAHAHAHAHHHAHAHAHA
I was thinking more along the lines of backpacking trips, and how cool it would be to have my digital camera and gps always charged. Or, if traveling in snow and ice, a nice pair of hunting socks.
You make a good point. Profit on parts could be 50%, but once you pay for labor, shiping, and all the varous support departments (accounting, marketing, logistics, exc...) and then the retailer pays for the brick and morter end 50% can drop to the 5% to 10% range very quickly.
Perhaps making a movie people want to see is how to stop piracy. If the movie looks lame I'll just not see it, or if I do I'll borrow the DVD from a friend, technically piracy. If it's a movie I do like I will buy a copy, even if I've seen it, so that the nice bean counters know that this movie that is cool will make money...Then again, I'm just one Slashdot troll, odds are my buying habits are not normal.
"End of Netscape?" isn't that insightful of a question, but some times a simple rhetorical question can help shed light on a subject better than a long explanation. It's more powerful to say "what about _____?" and let the reader fill in the answer. That way it's there answer, and there conclusion, and they will be more willing to accept it, as apposed to saying "Yea, well ______" and then having to convince your reader to accept it.
I was thinking the same thing. Too bad, not only is the Toaster expensive it also tends to crash (from what I have heard) and they only make a windows version. I know on my Xandros box I can play four DVD's at the same time without slowdown, and it dosent crash like my win box. Alas, this must be a hack for another day.

They work for the Marketing Division of the Sirius Cybernetics Corporation?

If an accounting troll do it, any one can!
Three lefts...two wrongs...are you saying MS, Google and AOL should merge? Creepy...
What you suggest is a far more logical conclusion. Like I said, I doubt it will happen, but it is a nice dream.

Great! Now we need is an unlimited supply of popcorn. "What do you think a phase conjugate tracking system is for, Kent?"

To catch IE, asuming all new firefox users are IE converts.
li=lithium
u=you
we are talking about SCO
SCO = U
SCO needs to be on Lithium?!
You like your data so private you post AC...Wow, and I thought I was a paranoid monkey.

A rucksack would offer more area for solar cells, and therefor could charge more toys.

I prefer small, unmarked bills.
