How dose it work with live video? Can you use it to switch between several inputs during a live broadcast? I can't seem to find any information saying it could, but that would be extremely cool if it did. A good switcher deck can run well over $1k, and a video toaster will run into the $10k range. If this could do broadcast video it would make home live broadcasts something that we all could do.
I read the article, and the wikipeda entry, and am left with a question. Without electricity and fule how do we get the compressed gas to run this thing?
Yes, but you only need ONE virus to kill your computer. Imagen if the Mac virus was writen to sleep for over a year, then they all become drones on the same day. I'm not saying it will hapen, but the the paranoid do tend to survive longer.
I wanted to see that. The other thing is good movies don't seem to last long in theaters. Batman Begins lasted about two weeks in local theaters, but Dukes of Hazard is still in the 'nice' theater.
I find it funny that you were modded funny. This year I have gone to every movie that looked good. All one of them. ('the Guidde' if you were wondering) I don't go to movies any more because most of them are drivle.
After the bit about taking every thing we own "...I don't care, I'm still free, you can't take the sky from me..." It's not just a mater of Them taking away all our rights with media, a lot of it is that the general public has given up on entertaining themselves. It's time to look for alternative forms of entertainment. If we became a culture of book readers, that watched backyard scifi we downloaded off the Internet for a fee and learned to play our own musicale instruments then the big corporations could DRM the entire system and take away all our rights and it wouldn't mater a bit. We would still have the sky, we could still enjoy our selves without the big corporations.
but really, who needs an icky looking Mr. Potatoe Head game as an included part of a desktop environment
When my sister in law's kids com over and want to play with the computer I load up Mr. Potatoe. After all, one of them is OCD and my copy of Civ or Sim City is a bit too much for him, and the other one gets hyper if allowed action games. Mr. P. keeps them happy during computer time (20 min each)
My sister in law will marry tomorrow, and I will be stuck at a loud, dull, family party tonight. The cool thin is I plan on using SG-1 as my reason for going home. I told my wife about this plan and she said she would prefer to watch SG-1 as well. Yeay! I can ditch the party at 9:00!
Your post is insightfull, but for me not havving enough work happens every month. You see I work in accounting, and at month end and the start of the month we are slammed with work. On the other hand, from the 22nd to the 28th the office dead. We will get our back filing done, and prep work done for the next month but when that runs out it's time for slashdot!
If you are referring to bank accounts, I'm an accountant, and I deal with many different checking, credit, savings, ex...Accounts through the day, therefore I want my books to be as simple as possible.
Yes, but it can be a pain if you want to suprise your wife with a gift, and it pops up on recently viewd items next time she checks amazon. From now on all anniversary gifts will come from brick-and-mortar stores and be purchased with cash
If I had any mod points they would be yours right now, in the form of Insightfull.
Yes, this is a comprehensive collection of 'clasics' but it isn't a good list of books that have a profound effect on my life.

This makes me think of space elevators. It almost seems like the ribbon will need to be manufactured in space, to ensure a smooth, high quality malarial. Then it could be lowered to it's destination in the Pacific.
My Dad, brother in law, and I are all hoby photographers, as are a few other friends of mine. After lots of search for a film photographer that would let us have the neg's and not charge an arm, leg, and first born child we decided it would be best to do photography our selves. My wife and I purchased a case of profisional film and gave every one a bunch. The photos came out great, lots of diffrent ideas, and some very fun stuff. Now when ever a close friend gets maried we normaly do swarm photogrophy.
That depends. Is it for the love of art? No, they arn't losers. Is it for the love of resale? That depends. Are they doing it to prove they can get something no one else has. Yes they are losers.
Ok, even if they are VERY good I would be board stiff in like, a month and a half. Not to mention with a hand full of ingredients and some creativity you can think of 11 different meals very quickly. I think instead of hiring a world renowned French chef they should hire a mom who has 3+ kids and normally has a very limited budget to feed them with. That way you can get several million recipes in a month.
Potatoes: baked, fried, mashed, soup
Tomatoes: Salad, soup, baked dishes
Wow, we are up to eight, and I haven't even spent a minute on this!

Or "Dark Skys"
I wanted to see that. The other thing is good movies don't seem to last long in theaters. Batman Begins lasted about two weeks in local theaters, but Dukes of Hazard is still in the 'nice' theater.

Or...
Did video kill the radio star, or did radio kill the video star?

'burn down my fort'
You made me smile today.

Ah...That's a good idea. Mostly it's because I'm lasy...sad but true.
Sir, you are brilient! I wish I could mod you insightfull ;-)
Good point AC, but she tends to grab the computer when I get up for a drink. I'm not yet paranoid enough to clear the cache every ten minuts.

I'm sory Mr. Dent, but you can't fight city hall!

PC Club, Goleta CA. Also, they offer good prices, and are near my work and home. Oh, and they offer Linux as a preloaded option.
