Naming conventions in PHP are definitely ackward, I wrote a library of aliases so all the functions I use have one naming convention and I don't have to remember if XYZ function uses an underscore or not.
As for errors/warning, you can use error_reporting(E_ALL); but most of the things it'll report on should be fairly obvious already and a lot of detailed and harder to find things will slip by.
It definitely is sad to think about a future that isn't better than the world we live in today, but it's also hard to imagine large corporations and government departments truly looking out for the interests of the average person.
Generally I think that you're supposed to be at least 20 feet away from a person to shoot them according the rules of a few different airsoft fields I've been to - at 20 feet you get a painful sting, possible broken skin and a welt for certain but with a mask on, you won't take any serious damage.
And really, I'm certain there are people with real sentry guns. It's not a new idea, we've seen auto-tracking guns in movies and games for ages so it's almost a guarantee that someone had one created. This article and video just show you how simple it is if you have some know-how.
Back in the days of Starcraft, I played hundreds of games with my friends who I knew had good internet connections and wouldn't drop out of a game or do anything fishy. In those games only a couple of them had a problem that was due to bnet.
However, when I'd play with random people I know I'd encounter a lot of dial up folks and low and behold they timed out because for whatever reason they were disconnected which we know isn't an uncommon thing for many dial up services.
Is that a new icon on Slashdot? The real time strategy ogre?
Anyway, a service like bnetd only exists as a way around Blizzard's key authentication. Even bit torrent which we all know is used primarily for illegal file sharing has very handy uses in distributing legal cd images (Linux distros, etc). I can't say I have much sympathy for the people on the bnetd side, even though some feel Blizzard's games have been going downhill, pay for it if you want to play it - only World of Warcraft needs a monthly fee anyway, and by now all those other games are incredibly cheap, go mow a couple neighbor's lawns and buy them.
Or perhaps men should take some time to study non-verbal communication a little better to catch up to the proficiency women show. There are numerous books and videos out there that go into some of these minute but important details of communication - in fact, there was a course that involved the study of non-verbal communication at the university I attended, a very fascinating class where I learned quite a bit.
Words are a VERY small part of the meaning of what we say, we know that the tone of our voice conveys a lot more meaning (otherwise jokes, sarcasm and the like wouldn't exist as much) - but other things such as eye contact, hand movement and body posture can carry just as much meaning.
Google Beta usually means they are still working on effective ways of making money out of their product. Gmail's number of invites have grown recently which seems like they are willing to let things grow a lot faster now, probably because Google feels confident in how their ad system functions.
It's an innovative use of technology at the time to accomplish something pretty amazing. It might not be regarded as news, but it's an interesting thing to hear about at the very least.
Besides, how much of anything on/. is truly news that people care about? We have more iPod and game articles than anything else!
World of Warcraft uses the mouse for camera control (looking around) and WASD for movement/turning and you can strafe with Q and E I believe. I like their system, I was able to understand it instantly.
Is it just me or did the quality of Firefox icon (that appears on a Windows desktop) get reduced? I'm looking at an older version of the icon and it seems much smoother and with more colors! This seems like a strange thing to change for a 1.0 release if it isn't just me.
The numbering system was originally confusing because of the Japanese releases that never made it to America and Squaresoft's attempt to cover this up. Now that Square-Enix is throwing out actual sequels they can't just bump the number up, they have to append additional junk to the title like in X-2.
My feeling is that the franchise is getting out of hand these days and is becoming diluted, there will still be tons of fanboys out there but Square-Enix is losing some because of the growing ridiculousness of what's been happening in recent years.
We can only hope that the future of wireless networks will include encrypted or otherwise protected routers/access points. The number of open networks around my apartment is somewhat disturbing (in a good way, when I'm bored).
I have to agree, it totally isn't Windows' fault that it decided my soundcard should share ISA resources with some USB interfaces, causing spectacular blue screens and frustration!
Wake me when there is something like a Windows live disc that detects everything on startup and works fine. There's something funky when a one time boot up OS like Knoppix does a better job than Windows XP...
Very different, it used to work (kind of).
Using Internet Explorer Now:

(Generic help pages that force you to wade through dozens of pages before realizing they don't know any better than you do)
The problem I have with leaving Firefox open is that I prefer the ability to place it on the system tray in Windows than leaving it minimized in the task bar. This keeps alt tabbing quick when I'm not browsing and reduces clutter. Are there any plugins for Firefox that allow this (such as forcing the X or minimize icons to go to the system tray)? I don't like having to use some external application to minimize things to the system tray since a lot of those tools aren't too reliable.
This works in Avant Browser, but that relies on IE which we know is a guaranteed deathtrap.

*shrug* They have a torrent for the version they are giving away for free.

Nothing else -is- happening in August since it isn't that month any more. *laugh*

Perhaps they will be sending sperm not spam to refill those kits! *shudders*

But what if I lost that email sent by those assassins and I get snipped? A fate far worse than death!
