My all time favorite is Sid Meiers Red Storm Rising (a game based on the book by Tom Clancy). It is a submarine warfare game, and I have yet to find a similar suspense in other games. The game manual is also of great quality and I still use it as a reference to modern attack submarines.
Other games by Sid Meier are also favorites, Pirates! being one of the best ones.
3. overly demonstrative; expressing emotion in an unrestrained manner; exhibiting unrestrained enthusiasm;
-- of people and human actions; as, effusive thanks; an effusive letter of recommendation. Contrasted with reserved. [WordNet sense 1+2]
Your comment is thoughtful, but the small population makes it possible to use Iceland as a model for other countries, a "proof-of-concept" if I may. Sure, it will be a harder task in bigger cities, but bigger cities also have more taxpayers, i.e. more money and resources and so on to do it.
I think James Cameron has been laying low since he made an ass of himself with the "I'm the king of the world" comment on the Oscar nominations. That's why he hasn't been making movies lately;)
"Maybe someone should point out that Microsoft is battling dozens of patent-infringement lawsuits itself, and any user of Microsoft software (including governments) could also be sued?"
Am I remembering incorrectly, or hasn't Microsoft indemnified all it's customers from patent infringment in MS products?
What's worse, when you run it, it jsut opens your default browser (instead of just IE) resulting in a "ERROR
The requested URL could not be retrieved" if you use Firefox, for instance.
There was an attempt to create a SS2 remake for the Doom 3 engine (System Shock 2:Rebooted), but EA stopped it short by sending a threat of lawsuit to the team leaders.
"So 12 file-sharers were accounting for 40% of all internet traffic for an entire nation."
That's not true. In wake of the news of the arrest, almost everyone on DC stopped downloading / uploading out of fear for being arrested next.
The Icelandic police sais this is just the beginning and this will be the largest legal case of it's type in the world.
However, remember USA!=World. In most places in Europe you don't have as stringent a law as the DMCA. Imagine if DVD Jon had been a US citizen? He would most likely be at the mercy of some big bald prisoner would personally like to thank him for all the DVD porn he could watch using Linux.
The game System Shock has the AI "SHODAN" become self-aware and think of itself as some kind of god. That game was released in '93/'94 so predates what Bungie did by 1 or 2 years. Personally I think it's the most underrated game ever. The storyline is simply amazing.
It's correct it was Billy'c attempt to say fuck you with the record labels, which didn't think it was worth it releasing the album, since MachinaI didn't make them millions.
They ran their Pentium IV EE at 100% for a few hours...

Other games, System Shock 1 and 2 come to mind.
Also Tetris!

Yeah, it's great until you have to install software not on the installation CDs. Dependency hell...
The newest version (0.4) is uncompatible with Firefox 1.02 so I can't try it out! Sounds good though

They are talking about oil as fuel. (I'm from Iceland, so I should know)
Format itself?
What happens after the 4th time?

DirectX only my friend. Sorry
It's a bit sarcastic he's blocking his beloved US troops in Iraq access to his site. He must think his soldiers abroad are irrelevant too then!?
Check out the name of the judge: Mr Justice Blackburne.

This is not entirely true in Iceland. Downloading movies is not illegal in Iceland, however uploading them is.

Are you sure you are not talking about American Beuty ?
I'm on exactly the same spec and I'm running it at 800x600 with high quality. Something wrong with your rig man

In my opinion it's better than MachinaI.
