A long time ago, I went to Shirecliffe College. Someone decided it would be a good idea to rename it Shirecliffe Higher Institute for Technology and Education.
Aparently they got as far as having the signs made before someone noticed...
Water, gas and electricity are already 'human rights', but utility companies have been able to cut off non-payers and abusers without issue.
I can't comment on gas or electricity, but in the UK you absolutley cannot turn off someones water supply. It is classed as a basic human need for survival. Unfortunately, some people try to use this as a way to get out of paying their water bill.
I think the biggest Media fear is that when they release crap products consumers will find out it's crap before purchasing it (through piracy) - since we're having more and more retailers saying 'once opened you can't return' WE would be screwed, but THEY would make Money.
This seems to have happened already. Look how album sales have dropped but singles sales are up. Why pay full price for an album when there is only one good track on it?
A few weeks ago I worked from home, and had the radio on. Now the PRS says that while this makes my a home a place of work, and I should be paying a performance fee to them, as I was working alone they don't normally apply the rules (tho they could).
Now a few hours later my girlfriend gets home from work and joins me in our computer room. The radio I am listening to is now a public performance, as 2 people can hear it in a place of work. I owe the PRS money as I am the house owner, allowing the public (me and my girlfriend) to listen to music, (that has already been payed for by our liscense fee and the radio station) in a place of work (my house).
I hope more of these stories hit the news so that people can see just how greedy these people are being, and why some local pubs are having to stop having live music as they just cant afford it any more.
This is selling for £35.99 in the UK.
If those 86K signees don't buy thats £3M, or about $5M.
Ok, so a lot will still buy, but but I would hope that with the potential to lose so much in sales someone would take notice.
The parent is spot on. Most UbiSoft releases are utter dross.
The only title of theirs that I have been interested in recently was Far Cry 2, which I didn't buy (or copy)
due to the SecuRom with limited installs. There was a thread on the UbiSoft website begging them not to use SecuRom, with some polite, thought out reasons why it was a bad idea. When the game was cracked five days before the official release date I pointed out that those downloading it didn't have to put up with SecuRom and limited installs like the paying customers did. My forum account was banned. For telling the truth. Apparently it was considered to be promoting piracy.
Way to fuck off those willing to buy your games Ubi!
Spore got downloaded even more, because even more people were interested in it.
Spore also got downloaded a lot as a protest against the DRM it contained. One friend of mine claimed he had downloaded it over 25 times, and deleted it each time as he had no interest in actually playing it.
However, it basically breaks down to: a streamed MP3 is "performed" and the "performance" is sent over the net. However, a merely transferred MP3 is sent as a piece of data that is meant for later performance.
Does that mean that by simply pre-caching (transfering) tracks before playing them they could get around paying these fees?
I was thinking more about those artists (signed or unsigned) that are wanting their work spread far and wide for free, to get the exposure and bring people to their shows/websites.
Why are all the comments about sharing torrents of copyrighted work?
Use this to share torrents of non-**IA affiliated artists.
Facebook claims to have 175 million active users. 175 million people sharing torrents of indies, music recommended by your friends, is the best advertising these artist could hope for.
It is also the record industries worst nightmare. Music they have no control over being shared (legally!) on a scale they cannot match.
It has been stated many times on/. that the lawsuits were about control. This is your chance to take that control away. Don't screw it up sharing Britney and Metallica. Share indie, get your friends to share indie, fuck the **IA.
Apple would not have made any money from me if I couldn't jailbreak as I would never have bought the iPhone if it had to reamain in its locked down state.
The fact that the iPhone can be jailbroken added value to the device that made me want to purchase it.
Does anyone actually buy a gaming PC any more?
Most people that are into gaming to the extent that they would need a gaming PC know that they can build it for a fraction of the cost of buying it, and with better specs.
There are plenty of gaming PCs out there, but that they aren't being bought from HP shouldn't come as a surprise.
Actually I think that this has been done to prove that DRM is required. PC Gamer magazine UK scored this 49%, ie. pretty bad.
Ubi know that the game is sub-par, but by releasing it DRM-free they can then blame poor sales in piracy.
I actually wanted to buy Far Cry 2 but didn't because of the DRM. Now I won't buy PoP because its it doesn't interest me and
it looks to be a stinker, but the lack of a sale will be blamed on piracy. Ubi claim bad sales due to piracy and prove
that DRM is required. "Hey, we offered PoP DRM-free and the nasty pirates copied it anyway. Cant trust those pirates."
as a precautionary measure a Greens state senator read out methods of euthanasia in parliament under the protection of parliamentary privilege with the knowledge that the proceedings of Parliament must be recorded and be made freely available to the public, rendering the government unable to block the publishing of the material.
There's the answer! You just need a few politicians to get it on in parliment and then they won't be able to block you pr0n.

Hopefully one day I'll find a superstud who can satisfy me
Amanda Flowers needs 10 sex sessions a day after the slip-up.
Yeah, I don't know about you, but that sounds like a full time fucking job...
What do you mean? It should only take about 10 mins...
:(
Oh, wait...
As a true nerd I demand more details!
Which boss, did you get the kill, and what loot dropped?
Is that what is meant by having your cake and eating it?

Sith Lord Mandelson is a lying fuck that should be in prison, not doing favours for his business friends again.

But after that, why would they bother? There'll be tens or hundreds of billions of humans around, do you really think they'll need more?
Because the Immortal Emperor will need the defrosted ones to drive his Dreadnaughts!

Maybe this is the real reason sales are down?
"Ummmm....it looks like you just have gibberish."
People have been saying that to me for years, you insensitive clod!

My bad for using 'indie' in the wrong context.

It has been stated many times on
Max speed is 10 not 7.
Until they make one that goes up to 11 I'm not interested.
All memories should be blurred. Mine are.
Are you sure?
