IMO: just stfu and code it, or just stfu, instead of ranting about it on your lame-ass blogs.
Is it just me, or are Bloggers the lamest users on the internet today!?
I don't know what is worse... saying "I have a blog" or "I use AOL".
Another thing I love, is when 'web developers' spend their entire day 'blogging' about programming on a 'blog' that they didn't even program themselves. *lame*
There are 28 people in my IT Dept., and only 9 of us are men.
I was in shock when I started here actually, I never met a girl who wrote code (somewhat decently even) for a living (outside of IRC).
Of coarse, I like to taunt some of the other guys here... 'oh, you're a.NET programmer, we usually hire the women to do.NET stuff, and the men to do PERL/PHP stuff.' etc. =p
Of coarse, they're (all) ESL/H1Visa workers, but they're all very talented and a great group of people to work with.
or perhaps a visual brainwave interpriter, so that I can plug a projecter into my brain (via usb 2.0 of coarse), and project my thoughts in full visual/audible context. *the CIA would love that one!*
The binary-to-matter converter would make pr0n a lot more fun! =p
I guess he got fed up being known as 'the dinorsaur' or whatever they called him.
He had saved up a few hundred grand, turned in his resignation, and moved to So. Carolina to buy some land/property. He then started his own chicken farm, and works PT @ the 'big' Wal-Mart there, as a door-greeter.
So let me get this straight, we can easily afford to spend $100 billion to conqour Mesopotamia, but we can't allocate an (almost) equal amount of money to reinforce (or keep up with) our technical/communications infrastructure, even though it IS a matter of national security?
I don't hate OpenOffice, nor do I like to use it. It just is not stable enough for my needs, which are really not too many needs, but for people who live in MS-office, I don't think they would find this a worthy alternative, yet.
I would like to see an open source alternative to MS-Office, but I am not a big fan of OpenOffice, simply because... it is bloaty java-ware.
I don't hate all java-ware, just bloaty java-ware. jEdit is nice, and it's java-ware, but OpenOffice... still needs a LOT of work.
Go intern somewhere, take all that insider information, drop out of college, quit interning, find some VC's, and start your own company.
Hey, it's the american way!

"There is a chapter on using forms and an interesting chapter on working with markup. The better chapters are on using DOM to generate markup, parsing XML, using RSS feeds, SOAP, and simple XML. The chapter on mysql is basic, except for the section on creating a wrapper class. The last chapter deals with communicating with Internet services, like POP, iMap, and FTP. Another project presented here is one creating object-oriented code dealing with a mail class."
If you actually learn something 'new' from this book, then you still have a long way to go!
It says... "The study of nearly 10,000 people showed that those who drank more than two cups of coffee or tea per day developed chronic liver disease at half the rate of those who drank less than one cup each day."
What about people who didn't consume ANY caffiene what so ever?
I assume that they fall into the 'those who drank less than one cup each day' category, but TFA is way to generalized to really reveal any useful information.
I'll just assume that this is more FUD, intended to increase the caffiene intake of this workforce society, to help boost (capitalist) productivity, via (capitalist) coffee consumption.
Did starbucks sponser this research? or was it Juan Valdez? *pssh*
All we could do in school was play Math Blaster or Oregon Trail =/
If kids can learn to properly learn computing techniques, such as a bash/csh shell starting off when they're that age, just think of what they'll have helped innovate/develop by the time they're our age.
"The true purpose of schooling, is to produce an easily manageable workforce to serve employers in a mass-production economy. Actual education is a secondary and even counterproductive result since educated people tend to be more difficult to control."
So which is wrong? The article-poster's description?
or are they actually going to make it illegal to make ANY form of open source software? (not just p2p apps).
I can understand the need to pass legislation to attempt to grasp further control or capabilities for prosecuting copyright infringers, specifically in regards to open source p2p apps.
However, good luck! Users will still find other ways to share their data, that is what the internet is intended for ya know... sharing data!
For them to make ALL F/OSS illegal, is out-right moronic, especially for perfectly useful/legal types of software.
I have grown tired of the greed, hypocrisy, and idiocracy that Americans have grown accustomed to tolerating over the last few decades.
Most Americans have the same (irrational, ignorant) mindset that Corporations do...
'if it doesn't make me money, or affect my money making abilities, then it doesn't matter to me!'
When your country is wiped off the map due to the recoarse of this mentality, maybe then it will matter to you. Ooops, wait, you'll be toast. nm =/

too the Recycle Bin, Windows!
I'm glad I don't run windows, or pay attention to what google does to it's (ignorantly) trusting userbase. =p
and am I automatically dis-qualified because I'm Irish? =)
you must be running windows! =p

Before we invaded Iraq, I used to hear rumors (on Fox News most likely) that Saddam had people who had reconstructive surgery in order to pose as him.
I don't hear any of that non-sense now. Did we actually catch Saddam, or one of his Clones?
Who in the hell uses VeriSign (in this day and age) anyhow?
A high market share does not mean great service or product, it means great marketing tactics that appeal to spoonfed/gulible consumers.
