Firefox/IE are applications. Compare that to trying to make/extend a window manager. Sure, IE runs faster sometimes because of so much of it being built into the kernel, but the window manager (Explorer) in Windows is completly built into the OS (it basically is the OS in Windows's case). All this guy is doing is throwing up an openGL window that takes screenshots of windows, and uses them as textures for the inside of a sphere. Looking Glass, as one example on *nix, is in a much better posistion because it can be a full fledged window manager, because it justs use X as a window server.

Saw this a lonnnnng time ago. Installed XP just to try it. What I found :
    -Extreme resource hog
-The designer knows nothing about UI design (so many different actions, even if you can customize the controls. Needs to be simplified)
    -It's ugly.
-You can't even use the windows while they're in "3D " mode

Just a poor windows developer trying to make some competition to Looking Glass. It's too bad, because it'll never work, unless MS does it and integrates it into their OS. (It would probably be really buggy coming from them though. I hate to say it, but I'm looking to Sun for the first 3D desktop)

The gameplay in Doom was spooky. It was fun and challenging. Multiplayer was fast paced and awsome. Doom III flops compared to it. Like, I'm not saying Doom ever was a fountain of great gameplay, but like, you'd hope a sequal would at least come close to its predesecors standards. Otherwise, whats the point? Anyway, that's all IMO, and really besides the point because I was joking around before, just taking the obvious cheap shot at D3 :)

Then you make a game like Doom 3. Seriously, great tech, bad gameplay.

I agree. Currently, my main system is a P2 / 266mhz. I spend all my time programming games and stuff, works fine for me. Sure, I could go on one of the family PCs, which are P4's, but this one is in my room and runs fast enough. (Then again, half the stuff I do I have to move to another PC to test it, because either my CPU is too slow or GPU doesnt support some feature) I ordered a mac mini, can't wait (3 weeks till it ships, so says apple) xcode will be awsome.

Katamari Damacy is very fun, but only because Japannese people are so scarily messed up, not becase the PS2 is anything special (it would work just as well on any system, hell it's got N64 graphics) Rez? Boring. Jak? Uninspired. If I had a dime for every boring Generic Platformer OF THE YEAR for the PS2, I'd be like, crushed under the weight of dimes.

Last time I checked, the average PS2 user was a self proclaimed 1337 (never play online with volume, its worse then XBL) Then again, xbox users are the "mature" (note the quotes) and PC players a fat, smelly, and can't spell. I'm starting to think that Nintendo players are the only normal ones. Then again I've never seen a Nintendo player online :)
