If I have a secret, I don't care what the antitrust european court says, it's my secret, they shoudln't take that nor my money away for me.
If you are in the US, then this is damn hilarious. The US, where toture has become accepted practice to obtain secrets.
Microsoft can keep there secrets, but it is going to cost them. They are free to get up and leave Europe, I am sure we will do fine. The simple fact is, that if they did that, then a huge amount of effort would be put into getting Linux as a perfect replacement. This would weaken Micrsofts stronghold on the rest of the world as well.
Yes, but will you concede that there is more than that one person, or who would they talk to.
Googletalk is great, because all you need is a browser. If you have google mail, and most people I know do (but then again, I work in a very smart field of IT), then you already have the only IM client that you will need.
Yeah, technically superior. If you consider having two or three tapes for every movie, for a minor improvement in visual quality that you would never notice anyway, being techinically superior. If you think having a more limited selection of movies for rent from your video store being technically superior.
You are right. These guys need to realise that they are pioneers. You need to stick at something like this. What if the original pioneers crossing to the West declared it a failure after their first crops died? What is the internet was declared a failure, just because only.00000000001% of people could use it? Some ideas are before their time (the newton), and need to be kept at.
Brazil should be ecstatic that foriegn companies are coming in and making money, while not paying taxes. How dare they question the great corporate US. Don't they know that governments have been toppled for far less.
Damn that 15-year old girl, she keeps on ruining everything for me. She got Firefly cancelled, the continuation of the Simpsons well past their prime, Britney and Paris constantly in the news. Who would have thought one person could do so much damage to society.
So you are pro the Microsoft word standard then? I guess Microsoft should just dictate all standards from now on?
You seem to have a small leap in logic. What difference does it make what programmers want, if everybody only uses the one standard set out by Microsoft. TCP/IP way may have worked in the pre-Microsoft days, but now there is just too much money in standards for it to be left up to anyone else.
A low uid at least proves that you have been on the internet for sometime. If you are still posting on slashdot, that also proves that you are loyal, and probably have been involed in IT for quite a while. ANd at the very least, we all know that we are not talking to some 14 year old whippersnapper.
Really? Have you never had any experience with Managers of Consultants before? They commonly no very little, but talk themselves up a great deal. This guy sounds exactly like both of those.
You could keep listening to your son/daughter, getting hot and bothered every week or so.
Or you can stop doing whatever your kid tells you to do, and start thinking for yourself. Learn to say no... oh no, that would be too much like hard work, too much like actual parenting.
Yeah, but this guy isn't making mistakes because he is tired or stressed. His problem is pure incompetence. It is not like he can be more incompetent, because he didn't get enough rest.
This is a joke, and a big problem in our society. Incompetence is rarely punished, something that you see all the time in the political world.
Ebay have also made a lot of good changes recently. The more detailed feedback, showing the price of the item sold or bought has been great. Also extra anonymous feedback on delivery times and such. The finally added a little javascript so that when you choose to watch an item, it doesn't have to reload the page. That must have saved them about 20 servers or so.
My party has only a few people, but it is at a pub, so the worst you can do is have a drink, and go away feeling better about yourself. I know it can be tricky getting out of the basement, even for an hour or so, but you never know what you will find in the big world outside.
Meanwhile, Chinese on the mainland (and possibly in Japan, Korea, and a few other places, customers replace their cell phones every 3 or 4 months to the tune of $300 to $400 a pop so as to not look behind the times.)
Yeah, we have morons who do that here as well. You get them in every country, and despite what you want to believe they are no the norm.
Think the publicity this creates is going to encourage anyone to contribute any more money to these immoral bastards?
Yes, I don't think this will make any difference to the RIAA bottom line, unless slashdot has suddenly been invaded by a bunch of pre-teen and teens. Most consumers don't care, get used to it.
What I want to know, is did she pay for the dinner, or did the EU pay for the dinner? I find it hard to believe that she coughed up for it.
And I would recommend a Japanese restaurant for dinner with Steve...you know, where they sit on the floor. Less dangerous that way.

Make sure you come back sometime, and tell us some more about your travels.
Fascinating stuff really, almost as exciting and relevant to anything as this post.

Good stuff. Extra point for trying to bring back into fashion the word chagrin...one I haven't heard in quite a while.

They laughed at Einstein, they laughed at Newton, but they also laughed at Bozo the clown.

Reminds me of a joke.
If a Dove is the bird of peace, what is the bird of Love? The Swallow.

It recently took over from ie on one of the major Windows OS and Software distributors sites on the net.

Moores law doesn't apply to storage. It doesn't even apply to the speed of CPUs. It applies to the number of transistors on a CPU.
You might as well apply the law of gravity to storage, it makes much more sense.
Really? Have you never had any experience with Managers of Consultants before? They commonly no very little, but talk themselves up a great deal. This guy sounds exactly like both of those.
Well you have two options.
You could keep listening to your son/daughter, getting hot and bothered every week or so.
Or you can stop doing whatever your kid tells you to do, and start thinking for yourself. Learn to say no... oh no, that would be too much like hard work, too much like actual parenting.

What is a bigger waste of time, shutting the hell up and going somewhere else, or continually posting about how it is a waste of time?

Pick the game player.
Not because there is anything more interesting in Vista, just that nobody else cares about anything in Vista, including DirectX 10.
So how is it different to Grid Computing?
