I guess I'm a little confused by your post. I'm using Word 2003 right now and when I use a menu item that was previously hidden, that item is no longer hidden on future uses of the menu. Additionaly, Word also greys out menu items that are not available. Your post seemed to indicate that hidden drop-down menus and greyed out items were substitutes when in-fact they seem to be compliments.
One issue, which you may have been referring to, is that it seems like word doesn't remember your personalization between sessions. Meaning if you close Word and reopen the personalized menus go back to default. I would really like to see this feature fixed as I often use Paste Special, but it defaults to hidden.
File|Properties may be hidden by default, but after you use it once, it is no longer hidden. I really like these features because they save someone from having to look at 15 menu options that they don't use and often don't even know the meaning of. The only way I think this feature should be changed is by allowing you to manually configure which options are shown and which are hidden.
Seems like we are both right according to Websters:
1 : to pass again through a series of changes or treatments in order to regain material for human use
2 : to adapt to a new use
No, the cd's were recycled into a different use. The intended use was as an AOL cd. Possibly if the cds were somehow rewritten to contain different data you could say that they were reused. However, just because the cd's were melted down doesn't mean that they are used in a new product now (i.e., the throne that I can't see).
would actually turn on my cordless electric shaver if it was near by
WHAT? Did your razor have some kind of wireless switch? Every razor that I've seen has a physical on/off switch. Can you explain this?
Take the contracting job while you continue to search for more stable employment. If and when you find full-time employment, go to your employer and inform them of the same. You will A) get them to take you on full-time or B) take the other job as full-time. The way I see it, you have a win-win.
One caveat, make sure that you don't need to sign any type of non-compete agreement with the contracting company and/or make sure that any agreement signed would not conflict with near-term employment opportunities.
Also, some companies higher contracters through a temping agency. Basically you interview with people from the company, but they hire you on through a temp agency. In these cases the temp agency will often have an agreement that bars you from being hired by the company for a certain period of time. Make sure that there won't be any conflicts if the company decides to hire you on as a full-employee.
Other than those notes, contract employment can be very enjoyable and lucrative. I worked as a contractor with the same company for 3 years because the hours were flexible (I was in school) and the pay was better than any other part-time job. I left this position after I found full-time employment (which coincidentaly happened to be in a completely different field).
Either way, Good luck with your endeavors!
The problem with the legal system is that a group of people decide the verdict? I can imagine what your suggestion would be: Maybe all of the evidence should be fed into some artificial intelligence algorithm and if the output is greater than 1 the person is guilty, less than 1, not guilty, and if the output is 1 its a hung algorithm and the evidence must be reformatted and reinput. Seriously, how else could a case be decided than by a group of people making a decision. Certainly one person is just as fallible as a group of people.
I'm not entirely sure that more cell phone coverage is better. Frankly, people don't need to be talking on their cell phone in the elevator. If its so important, wait and talk before you get in the elevator, so I don't have to listen to a story about how your cat did the cutest thing!
Please read my entire post next time. I discussed social interaction and its importance. Social development and learning can both occur at the same time.
Its up to parents to teach their kids that being cool to some kid in 5th grade isn't as important as it may seem. Teach kids that there is a whole world of people out there and that there will always be some people who will like you and some that won't. I feel like today parents are more worried about their kid fitting in at school than actually learning anything at school. Don't get me wrong, developing social relationships is extremely important, but so is standing up for what a child believes is right. It is possible to be smart and to have friends. Kids should be taught that their curious nature and desire for learning should never end. This may only happen in private schools, but I was told over and over again: "I can teach you something today, but tomorrow it may be outdated. You need to be involved in life-long learning."
Finally, I'd like to comment that a child's school life and his/her home life should not be discrete and seperate things. Parents need to emphasize learning at home, especially starting at a young age.
Maybe they want us to think that they are lulling us, all the time knowing what we think we know that they are doing when in fact they are really not going to do anything...
IMO The Sims are not marketed to the same age group as Barbies. Have you played this game or seen the commercials? If anything, its marketed towards lonely males (hmmm, good forum for discussion). In fact, I've played the Sims before and I really hope that a lot of Barbie aged girls are not playing, there is a lot of suggestive humor that is probably not appropriate for young children.
Your analogy is not equivalent to this subject, whether or not you could get a patent for hotdog on stick over hotdog, I'm not sure...however, the idea of playing a console game while connected to the internet, and implementing a voice communication system takes a just slightly larger inventive step. I guess an equivalent example would be: stick a phone in the side of the game console system. The fact that you are required to combine communication protocols, voice compression software, i/o communication protocols, and use them in a gameing environment does require an inventive step. Keep in mind, I'm not commenting on whether someone has already done this specific task, but voice communications in combination with a gaming console is not just a specific case of voice communications. Otherwise, you could say well communications in general is prior art for any other type of voice communications.

Won't gov't intervention be required to make the information public?

What makes you think that was Microsoft's image and not simply the author of the story's image? Maybe I missed something...
They have filed an application, it IsNot allowed yet.

did I miss it? Everything looks so different when the internet is down?
The whole internet is running off a cached copy that I have on my PDA. I hope my batteries don't die!
Has anyone heard anything about this Internet attack that was supposed to happen today? I can't find any new news on it.
and not just whee little shenanigans; evil shenanigans
