A couple of times I've been watching something on TV when an ad started so I changed channels only to find the same ad on another channel. One time the same ad was on all 3 of our local commercial stations, two were in almost perfect sync and the other was out by about two seconds. It was pretty impressive.
Could you please point out where MS said they were going to drop Win32 support in Longhorn? As far as I know they are just going to develop their own new software in.NET, not force everyone else to.
Actually an auto SUV is often better offroad than a manual. On long climbs in the mountains an auto will be able to change gears as the gradiant changes, where as a manual driver would be stuck in the lowest gear to avoid losing too much momentum and rolling back during a gear change. When driving in sand an auto will usually be able change gears smoother than a manual driver and therefore maintain traction.
Did you watch the video? It shows two monitors, one a CRT, the other an LCD, they are both hooked up to the one computer. There is a window being displayed across both screens. When the window is moved the image on the LCD lags behind the CRT. Both images are being controlled by the same mouse, so how can the type of mouse have anything to do with the problem in the video?
GL's original plan was 9 films. Then he changed his mind and wrapped up the series in ROTJ by killing off Vader/Anakin. I remember him saying that there was no longer a reason to make eps7-9 because he had finished off the story in ep6 instead.
Were you on drugs when you played? Were they the same drugs Kojima was on when he wrote the script?
Early on in the game I was willing to overlook some of the stupid bits like the girlfriend hassling you to remember some anniversary during a combat situation. However the further you got into the game the stupider it got. Even now over a year since I finished the game, it still pisses me off that a story could be so bad it ruined any of the fun in the gameplay.
I'll no doubt be in a shitty mood for the rest of today from recalling the awful awful MGS2 story.
The reason the PS2 plays DVDs is because Sony makes movies. The reason the PS1 (and PS2) plays CDs is because Sony makes music CDs.
The reason the PS1&2 play music CDs is because it is an easy as piss feature to add considering that the game media is also CDs.
The reason the PS2 can play DVD videos is because it was a reasonably cheap and easy feature to add considering that the game media is also DVDs. Also at the time the PS2 came out DVD players weren't available for $30 ata Walmart, so it gave the customer another reason to buy a PS2 when the software library was still pretty small.
The reason the Cube doesn't play DVDs and CDs is because it's a game system. Crap. GCN Doesn't play DVD's because Nintendo were too worried about piracy to use standard size discs.
How is the Cube a better game system because it can't do anything else? I was a fan of the N64 and am interested in getting a GameCube now that its getting cheaper, just so I can play Zelda and Mario Kart. So don't mistake me for a Nintendo hating PS2 fanboy. But maybe the GameCube would have a better market share now if they had included the extra functionality, so users had another reason to buy one and something else to do while they waited for another decent game to come out.

I'm not sure whats worse the Subway ads with the US accents or all the other imported ads that have been so obviously redubbed. At least the Subway ads are honest in cheapness.
I don't mind when the ads look expensive, but when its something stupid like two women talking about dishwashing liquid thats a different matter. How come the local transmission specialist can put more effort into his ads in a regional city of 150,000 people, than a multinational company advertising nationwide.
The funny thing about the Subway ads are that we didn't get all the early Jared ads, so the only reason we know about him is because of the SouthPark sendup. I can just picture the executives seeing Jareds exposure through SouthPark as a good reason to bring his ads out to Australia.
I was about to ask where in w2k the dialogs were resizable, because they aren't in IE6 or Office2k. But then I checked in Notepad and found it does have resizable file dialogs. Whats weird is that MS's flagship programs Office and IE don't use the feature but neglected old Notepad does.
The drives do run hotter since none of the heat can conduct through the sides......did some testing and found that a suspended enclosure was not much quieter than the suspended drive alone... But was the drive in the suspended enclosure cooler than the unenclosed drive?
That was my first thought. Cairo was the code name for the planned object oriented rewrite of Windows, which ended up as NT5.
I not sure if we should have too much hope in the new X guys plans to refit X, when they can't even come up with reasonable names for their projects.:)
I think that the majority of geeks have good hygiene, but at geek gatherings the stench from those who don't know what deodorant is for is bad enough to give the impression that everybody stinks.
But why then did they choose those three words? Why not something that abbreviated to something less common? What about GPE (GNAT Programming Environment) a simple one word change, though there are still other GPE projects. If you go beyond three letters you could use GNATAPS "GNAT Advanced Programming System." which gives zero results from google.
The big problem with using an acronym as common as GPS is when people start trying to search for help from other websites, they will have to weed through millions of unrelated webpages. With a little bit of extra thought they could have made their project much easier to find.
I couldn't agree more, its not like GPS (the nav system) is some obscure thing that no ones ever heard of. What kind of retard would give their project a name that so easily confuses it something completely unrelated.
While some sicko might be able to take advantage of this system to find kids, what about the assistance it would provide to parents and police in tracking down the kids whereabouts before being snatched.
My new TV can take component inputs. But my VCR will only output RF or composite. Do I need to replace my VCR? No, of course not because the TV also takes RF, composite and svideo. Just a audio receivers have RCA inputs as well as the much better digital inputs.
Why would the addition of firewire mean you'd have to replace everything?
If Microsoft buys Bitmover, nothing changes. They can't force Linus et al to upgrade to a "secured" version (i.e. they can't take the tools away)
Actually I'm sure that in exchange for getting Bitkeeper for free you have to run the latest version. So the Linux community get a top notch SCM for free and BK gets free beta testing from heavy duty users. Therefore BK users will either have to upgrade or stop using BK.

How about actually reading the articles text as well as looking at the pictures. Its not like there were mountains of text to wade through.
It's using a Peltier as well as the heatsink & fan. The Peltier will transfer heat from one side to the other. You put the beer on the cold side and the heatsink on the other.
Whether or not it would actually be effective is another question.

You're thinking of Jeff Raskin. He was the one who didn't believe in adding a mouse to the original Mac.
Could you please point out where MS said they were going to drop Win32 support in Longhorn? As far as I know they are just going to develop their own new software in .NET, not force everyone else to.
Thats the way to go nice and simple.
However a rock would be even easier, and with the advantage that you wouldn't get arrested.

OK then call it a Parking Brake, because its still not going to stop a vehicle in an emergency.
How on Earth could it be the mouse!

It's the explanation of why they're calling it Goldeneye that is lame.
The new games story may be great, but the use of the Goldeneye name will still be lame if it has nothing to do with the original Goldeneye.
I'm sure there are quite a few people around the world planning to help you out with that problem. :)

Not likely.
They will no doubt appeal repeatedly until one side eventually runs out of money.
