ok, 2 things. At least I have sparked some conversation. Now, isn't a dual payload kind of bulky? I have programmed in Java, and getting the thing to run right is fairly simple, but the more complex it gets, the fast it grows. I can see how Windows with "Everyones an Admin" approach can be easily exploited, but Linux seems too locked down. Sudo items are a pain at times.
Also in my defense, I have only used Linux for about 50 hours. (use time, not time I have had it.) Could a Java-based prog really offer that strong of an intrusion into a linux box?
How can a czar (of all things) enforce our laws in another country? Other than certain areas where our law is recognized, we would be SOL! I can jsut see it.
"Hello Nigeria, we have about 4000 people we need to have you arrest for sending spam and rerouting information over the internet in a effort to scam our residents. What are you laughing at? Stop it! Hello? Hello? Oh well, we will try again tomorrow."
Since the architecture is so different, could a virus really spread between the two of them? I mean Linux is more secure for a userlevel, so I think that may be overrated.
I myself have played Half-life for only the first 3 minutes. I plan on buying the game tonight. If you are lost on a few inside jokes or people, does it really take that much away from the game?
Who the hell made him the lawyer for asia? on American Law!? Ballmer is bringing Microsoft to a new low, and thats saying something.
Lots of companies infringe on each other's patents and they settle back and forth, and make concessions. Besides, if you are running a corporate version that you are paying for support, wouldn't you be able to argue that the corp selling their version is resopnsible. you do not write the code, you run it! I wouldn't expect to be sued for Microsoft's stupidity.
Well, CSI is a great show in and of itself. But we (sane people) know the facts are presented to the jury, and they are supposed to go off of what they are saying, not anything else. Yeah we draw on our experiences, but that would be a little much.
Shouldn't the lawyer get those kind of freaks off the jury!? These are the same people that give RPGs a bad name by going out and stabbing each other in the name of fun.
He may, but I just love the fact that I see him on like 30 different shows. He was on several adult swim shows... great stuff (I hope I'm not modded down for offtopic, I'm trying to get back to good, hell neutral would be GREAT!)
Speak and Spell, no longer around, but MAN! that thing was fun. you could play all sorts of games on it, buy new cartridges, and no matter how many times you played, you could never remember the 6 letter word for the guessing game.
I miss that. What was the other? It was green, and had math. Speak and speel was Red, see and say was yellow? well, it wil come to me.
John Battelle: "Microsoft's angle on the engine is "providing more useful answers." In the presentation I was given, MSFT showed some new research which claimed that the time between a searcher's query and a full answeraverages 11 minutes. It's within this window that MSFT hopes to improve search -- getting an answer, quicker."
11 minutes?!? If I can't find it in 30 seconds I'm done. I know if the answer is there in jsut a few seconds. If I look for 11 minutes, I must have been searching for porn.
How the heck am I a troll?(see earlier post) We want all this expansion, we are destroying the earth, and no one seems to give a damn about it. I think that we should be doing better things than creating "technology that someday will build faster missles" That is just what we need, a quicker way to kill some people.. wOoT.
I would really like to see something that gets us going faster in Space. We can get up there just fine if the ship doesn't go. And we can get down jsut fine (again if the ship stays together), but we need to explore the universe! We need Warp! Dammit Jim, I want to go to Aplha Centauri DisneyLand!
When you complie it, you still get the same buggy load of crap you get now. The only difference is that you can see the millions of bugs but can't fix them because you'd be changing a variable on about 4000 lines each time.
Way to go bill, you gorged your code TO THE MAX! WOoT for u!
The sentence, although it seems fitting at times, is kind of harsh, couldn''t they have them doing something productive for the electronic community?
I think that their sentence should have been a cash sum to pay off the cost of prosecution and then make them build PCs for underprivledged people/ schools.
Hell, make them teach a class on identifying SPAM and phishing scams. They may not like it, but dang it they better do it and do it right, cuz THEN they go to the pokey.
Am I just being too hopeful? Maybe. But We have so little jail space, and so many more worthwhile sickos to lock up.
Karma be bad. I already have bad Karma, so I figure a first post ins't going to hurt me.
I think Bluetooth is a waste of technology. If you have a short range with limited bandwidth, why not connect using serial cable? I mean, your going to get the same result...waiting.
I think that there are much more robust alternatives. Bluetooth came out with all this hope, but crashed after the time it took to get it going.
No, ...requires them to leave their houses?
That Bitch! Yeah, I'll remember that your required to leave your house to have a revolution LIKE THE INTERNET
that the option to view this article is greyed out.
A game where you play as the Devil, playing a Harry potter viedo game.

the gov't is going to kill p-2-p. Why agree to all this if they want p-2-p to die?
Oh yeah, my post is almost as long as this article. Way to go details!

I can't imagine this actually taking hold.

Windows BSODs happen and we're SOL.

Steam ran out of steam.
Thanks, I'll be here all week.
At least Microsoft is not in the group! Bill is such a drag at the parties.
He has jokes that that people can pay to hear, but you only get the punchline, the meat of it is secret.
He talks to everyone, but only 3 times, after that there is a service fee.
He listens to everyone's conversations, then passes the information on as his own.
It seeks out and find illegal music, and then it fills the P2P networks with legal music.
excuse me, but isn't sharing legal music still illegal? If not, then I got like 350 cd's everyone can have a copy of... come and get it!

My Etch-a-sketch plays doom3 the same way. And I ALWAYS win.

Finally, a cigarette that geeks can enjoy! You could mod it out with a multi-filter system, and smoke a pack all at once!
Next thing you know, they'll have see though cigs and MP3 packs.
But man! That battery acid is hard on the lungs.
