the corporations currently own our government which equates to fascism. I totally agree but the government needs some honest brokers and stop getting paid from corporations and actually act like the people are their bosses instead of the corporations.
once the robots come they will replace everybody. everyone's job in a corporation can be replaced. just because you are a senior manager doesn't mean your job is safe. The robots will build better robots and they will eventually not need humans. AI is a very dangerous slipper slope.
Maybe congress hasn't acted because the people they represent what a long and healthy life. Gates go suck an egg. who is he to tell us how how we should live or get power. He should be in jail from having an illegal monopoly.
the only computer I have loaded with the windows crap is at work. Using Linux on all my other computers. So now they come up with more reasons for corporations to spend more money so they get rid of more employees.
Good job microsoft. I haven't gave them any money since windows 95.
One sure way to save is stop spending money on software and use nothing but free open source. I can't believe the way my duaghters grade school just throws money at any software when they could be saving tons.
I wish att would just shut up and provide a big fat pipe like they are suppose. They are always 10 years + behind the curve. Innovation goes to die at att.
What computer science students get coming out of school is appalling. The american way is to lose all sense of morality and don't care what kind of quality to get the job done. I tell every college student I know not get into computers. It isn't rewarding and fun like it use to be when it was starting out. It is cut throat and no once cares about doing anything properly. If you can talk out of your arse and act like you know what you are talking about you can go far no matter even though the actual work you do gets fixed by people who know what they are doing. If it wasn't for Linux I would not be in the industry.
I buy all my new laptops from system76. Still have a netbook from 2010 that still works and surfs the web just fine. It even runs a virtualbox with windows just fine. Who cares linux has already won. IBM had to buy redhat to stay relevant. System 76 systems are just as good looking at Apples IMO.
probably 1 of 3 if you don't count the union employees. the 160,000 is smaller because they are probably counting union employees.
att is doing the same thing. thee have even more employees like under 300,000 and that was before the time-warner merger.
both companies senior management are psycho. why they hire so many employees and don't make use of the ones they have is ridiculous. I guess they get their jollies hiring so many people just to let them go later. pretty sick way to run a company.
att will just move on to the next thing they buy. they had digital life now that is in the crapper. they have uverse now that is sunsetting they just keep buying and think they are being innovative without bothering improving what they have already. they buy things and then never sustain them. just move on to the next buy. meanwhile living off of the mobile phone business.
Couldn't agree more. The only thing that guy knows is how to cut costs. That is what they are going to do at HBO. They will cut costs and people. That is the only senior management knows how to do. Looks like HBO is on the chopping block. I would hate to work there right now. I feel for the people. you are right stankey is a moron. the good old boy network doesn't work for creativity so they will do only what they know how to do and that is cut costs.
"Microsoft also showed a very interesting new desktop virtualisation technology called SoftGrid, which allows applications to be virtualised individually, rather than a whole OS."
redhat has already been doing this with xen so this is nothing new or anything they invented.
but of course we all know that if apple or microsoft didn't invent it it never existed before.
they only reason vista sold is because you are making "Deals" cough cough with corporations to get it deployed.
to this day you still practice your illegal tactics while you have the DOJ in your back pocket. you will never change and so I will never buy your products again.
microsoft wants all of you users that bring the cd from work and install it on your computer to pay up -
sure we will throw works to the home user along with the teacher and student edition but corporations get screwed and pay the full price.
corporations are brain dead and just accept it the cost of doing business it doesn't have anything to do with the best bang for the buck -
open office is better that microsoft office and I highly recommend home users to install it and then demand it at your office.
I can't believe the price the corporations pay for microsoft crap software when there is a better free alternative.
plus open office will save you documents in an ISO industry standard format that will guarantee YOU will have access to YOUR documents for as long as you want.
I think it speaks volumes when microsoft has to resort to tactics similar to the mpaa and riaa - guilty until proven not guilty.
I don't know much about their products since I don't use them and have no plans to but I wonder about their products when they have to resort to these tactics.
Shouldn't the product sell itself?
I use nothing but linux and it is really really easy to install as long as you do your homework and buy hardware that is compatible - but that is any os.
To those businesses tired of being strong armed by software vendors I suggest you really try linux. It is robust and stable operating system and has all the applications you will ever need. No more trips to the local computer store to buy the 10.00 special on software. You will have all the software you will ever need or want. And you will be able to get your work done and run your business instead of counting licenses.
The three or four I would recommend trying are Ubuntu, Suse, Centos and or Fedora, and Mandriva.
go ahead and give them try they will just work and all it will cost you is a little time but your business will be better off in the long run and you will get the time back easily in money saved by license fees.
this is the just an example of what drm and trusted computing that your wonderful senators are pushing for.
this is just the beginning folks - be ready for the rest with vista - drm and trusted computing are so cool - now you will get spam from only companies that pay microsoft more money to send spam.
here is a solution to this problem - buy linux and you will be in control of your own computer.
its all good - microsoft runs a business so as long as there is a business plan it is all good. no harm no foul
the corporations currently own our government which equates to fascism. I totally agree but the government needs some honest brokers and stop getting paid from corporations and actually act like the people are their bosses instead of the corporations.
about time but what did you expect when you put a former verizon executive in charge.
att and verizon shold be broken up and stay broken up.

Bring them all on. Linux is rock solid and all I got to say is bring them all on.

hope they do it to me then I can sue their arses and work on open source full time.
here's too it not getting adopted and I hope they kick it back out on the proprietary horse it rode in on.
