Things are only worth what people are willing to pay for them. For example, if I have a used car, and the Blue Book value is 5000, but in my area, let's say on Craigslist or Ebay motors, the same car with the same options and condition, are going for 3000, then the car is worth 3000 to me because that is all I can get out of it. I have never seen an individual sell a downloaded MP3 for any amount of money. I can understand it if we were talking about someone who downloads these songs and sets up a street market table selling pirated CDs for 5.00 per copy as I have seen on the streets of other countries, but that isn't who is getting sued. The ones getting sued are Suzy Homemaker whose kids download some songs and share them with their friends. This is what I have seen. I have not seen anyone make money from downloaded mp3s or movies. It is ridiculous.

The reason for this is that it is the knee jerk reaction, when the politicians identify a problem, to legislate rather than repair a now outdated system. Why spend time and effort protecting the people when they can just legislate morality. None of these politicians give a damn about the people. They are only interested in the money gained from special interest interest groups that keep them in power. It is about remaining in power while appearing to do the right thing, and actually doing very little at all.

Afterwards, you realize that it's just a cool picture (or phrase, whatever) that you wanted. Even if times and tastes change it's a cool link to who you were back when you got it.

You are absolutely right...I have one, a picture of my ex-wife...People always ask, "You guys got divorced, don't you feel stupid now?" No...my experience with her shaped me permanently...just as all relationships shape shape us...This is no different...As I say, At least I got a cool tattoo out of the deal...You change your mind, your taste changes but you will always love your ink, so long as you get it for the right reasons... On a side note, I wish I had thought of it. I would love to get some cool math tatted on...Now I can't cause it isn't original...Maybe I will find something original...Tats have to be original..They are addictive...I have met very few in my life (and I am career military, the breeding ground of testosterone overdosed A-type personalities that LOVE TATTOOS!) that actually "hate their tattoos" it is more likely that they wish they had done something different or thought it though better.

I thought it was the FBI's job to spy on us. They needing help that we haven't heard of? Could be because they have better computers with all the money that was poured into DHS over the last few years. This seems to me to be another step toward tighter control on the American People. Precisely, there is X amount of productivity that you are expected to achieve in a day. The way I see it, superior sustained performance is not that difficult. If you can do that and surf for a bit during the day, like I am now, then who cares. But on the other hand, you take away one of the only things that make it tolerable there then morale goes down, then productivity follows.

I personally feel that certain sites should be restricted because you are going to have that jackass that is going to surf porn at work. If they get into one and it is obvious that they were surfing and not just an oops this link took me here and I immediately closed out that window, then fire them, for unprofessional behavior, or for violation of internet usage policy or whatever code of conduct that you hold your employees to. Blaming the software companies for the user doing something illegal is as ridiculous as blaming the gun manufacturers for firearm related homicide, but you see that every day too. Liberals are killing us with their, "We have a right to free stuff!" philosophy. By the same token, developers have the right to protect their intellectual property...If they so choose. If you want to give away the source code then do it and license it under the GPL, if you want to charge for it, then do so, and protect yourself how you see fit. It is the decision of the user to try to install the pirated software. I have used serials for several pieces of software, and if it had screwed up my home folder, then it was my own fault. Ok, fine..but I also understand that there is a natural progression to evrything, and without getting into religion, there is an evolution to things as well. That being said, was not a major part of the history of the Internet the direct result of a collaboration of Digital, Intel and Xerox (DIX)? If so, (and I could be confusing my facts here), but does it not make sense that such a collaboration be necessary to evolve the Internet into it's next state? Also, it seems to me that the whole other network overtop of the Internet amounts to little more than a bandaid on a sucking chest wound.
