Actually, China's population is expected to crest at about 1.5 billion and then start to drop considerably. China is in a very similiar position as the US with a big baby boom bubble, and low birth rates thereafter, only their boom occured in the 70s instead of the 50's. India however is expected to be the most populous nation on the planet in 20 years or so with about 2 billion people. I think the main reason that India is the place for outsourcing(skilled labor) whereas China is the place for manufacturing(generally unskilled) is because the population of India was much younger when India opened up than the population of China was when it opened up......
Actually, in societies that don't participate in aborting female fetuses(China and India namely) females outnumber males, even though your stat is correct? Why? Because at every age males have higher fatality rates than females. Seriously, look at the demographics of the US from the CIA world fact book: for the US Canada France Japan(though there the ratio roughly stays the same
For all of these countries, you see that there are a lot more males under 15 than females, but from 15-65 the numbers tend to even out(in the US there are more females than males in this group) But for contrast look at: China and India
where because of gender selective abortions, there are significantly less females than males in the age 15-65 group. Actually, that is becoming a major concern in those places, as you can imagine what problems a group of males who really need sex can cause.....
Though you made a small mistake, the number you read about in the top 500 list is SUSTAINED performance, not peak performance(which is the number you listed). This is determined through running the Linpack benchmark, which solves a system of linear equations. It remains to be seen whether or not the supercomputer IBM is building will be able to sustain anywhere near 360 teraflops, so I would stop salivating at this point......
this is the ITAA? Aren't they supposed to advocate GOOD software design? Guess what, if the user is making errors, then it's the problem of the software maker. Obviously they didn't design their interface right, obviously they didn't write their instructions well enough etc. The user isn't supposed to have to study a user's manual before voting.
Come on, this "blame the user" bs is getting really old. Appearently corporations are allowed to be totally incompetent with their own products, but it's always the users fault if they don't know how to use them......
Was because it was right at the high end of the "impulse buy" range. Most people will spend up to $20(one bill, well more than that with tax but people don't really think of that) on a whim, but when you start to get higher than that, many people will think twice about it, and probably go with madden because it's a $50 game, so it must be better than your $30 or $40 game...
It's interesting that them writing more viruses to attempt to hurt their enemy actually helps their enemy, more viruses=more sales. Different for entities like MS, if I convert a person to Linux, that doesn't help MS......
HAHAHAHAHAHA, cut the crap. The grandparent was talking about having to buy a 10 Euro AC adaptor, not a 1 euro little prong adaptor that you can pick up almost anywhere. I was talking about using a universal power converter, you really need to check your facts before posting.
Oh, and Japan and the US do not use the same parallel flat prongs............Most in the US have a ground to use, and the parallel flat prongs are of different sizes. In Japan, they are not the same size. So thanks for making yourself look dumb, please try again!
Um, no, read the post again. I bought it in NA(the US to be specific), I looked at the plug, it is a universal adaptor. The electricity where I was(Tokyo area) was 50Hz, I know this because I brought a non-universal alarm clock, and it lost time because of the difference in the frequency....
Please check your facts more carefully next time before trying to correct someone.
Doubtful. Most electronics come with "universal" plugs nowadays. I plugged my GBA sp that I bought in NA into a Japanese outlet with no problem. They are usually 50/60Hz 100-220V. I doubt Nintendo will really make the manufacturing process more complicated by distributing different plugs to different markets(esp. when they don't intend to region lock the games)
I've even heard that a $400 Ipod costs about $12 to manufacture... can anyone confirm this?
Hey, I hear gullible isn't in the dictionary....
The iPod might cost $12 to ASSEMBLE, but Apple still has to go and buy all the pieces. I would seriously like to know where you propose I get a sub $10 20 gigabyte microdrive.....
On a related note, wouldn't it be nice if we could find out where the various components of products are made, for example the ipod is assembled in Taiwan, I'm certain large parts of it aren't made there....
first post!
Yeah, fear it bitches, I'm not going AC or not using my karma bonus on this one, it's all worth it. All that really matters in life is the curry tree. What am I doin with moy life. Throwing curry off of trees. I think my friends ditched me. The Japanese girls certainly did. I'd settle for the CHinese variety, but no...
I relaly don't like the sound of indian voices. Should my wrist be this white? I have yet to mate, that is probaly a good thing. Any girls out there want to cue me in on the secret to unlocking one of those newfaqngled vagina things. I sure could use one right about NIPPLES! now. You all y really should go on a roof and dthrow curry, it's fun.
The people have come to take me away, I regert that I have but one life to waste on wanking and booze. I haven't drank this much since 4th of July. I need the girl to get drunk, then I can unlock the secrets! Roses didn't do it. Well, a single rose that benefits breast cancer didn't do it. A pimply faced Japanese woman yelled at me about being unprofessional when Iddi do it; I think she ois a lesbian. I would like to see some hot asian action. What ever happened to autopr0n, I loved that site. It heldped me feel I wasn't really alone in this world.
Goodbye coffee. Kurt Vonnegut said I would be acculturated on a train in Asia. It kind of happened. Damnit, why do I suck. Why couldn't get the girl. Why is it so fun to waste/. hd spce. Why?

Doubtful. IBM's BlueGene is the king right now(well for the time being), but I don't see Big Mac(either version) beating the earth sim. Still, 2 out of the top 4 isn't bad.
there is a channel that is soley devoted to really boring science. One day I saw a dude doing Fourier transforms on TV, another molecular bio, and yet another they were talking about software engineering.
But then again, at the same time, I didn't think I could see anything dumber on Japanese TV than I did on American, but boy was I wrong....
Does this mean he will BSOD during epic battles? Doesn't sound like a very formidable opponent. Now tuxzilla......

When Duke Nukem Forever comes out, everyone's computer will be able to handle millions of bodies!

Damn straight, Bush is going to stay as tight as possible!
Insert your own jokes here.
Heh, I was referring to the ps2 linux kit. Do you know of a live boot cd that ru ns on a playstation?
it doesn't run Linux(no hd possible!)

I was going to submit the Diebold code till I read:Obviously incorrect code, however, is not welcome.
