Actually, of all channels in the US, HBO should care the least about TiVo beause it's main purposes are time shifting and skipping commercials. However, since HBO doesn't have commercials, they don't care if you skip them. And why should they care if you use a TV to timeshift? You still paid them. Also, I doubt most of the shows on torrent sites originated on TiVo, so much easier to go the old tv capture card route(and get software to snip the commercials or just do it yourself)
Dude, I think this is the perfect slashdot article

It's got the holy trifecta that all/. articles seem to want. Best/. article ever!
I feel the exact opposite way, given his ahem track record, there must be SOME supernatural intervention. I think Uwe Boll proves that God exists and he enjoys playing really dumb practical jokes on humans.
5 hours of talk/video time? (16 hours if you only play audio) I doubt that it is going to make that much of an impact with that kind of battery life. I know thats longer than the video play time of a video iPod, but if your iPod runs out of power, chances are you are going to be annoyed, but thats about it. If your phone dies, you could miss an important email/call/whatever. Then you will probably be much more pissed.
Just my 2 cents, I think its a great device otherwise, but great devices with no power are pretty much expensive bricks.
only listening to what they want to hear, I just got a business idea:
Mr. Bush, Iran is responsible for all the problems in the world, and invading will cause no problems whatsoever. This report will cost you a billion dollars, thank you!
No and yes. No because he did commit a lot of crimes, and yes because sadly, in comparison to a lot of wealthier, better connected white collar criminals he is getting an incredibly harsh sentence. Duke Cunningham's crimes were as bad if not worse, and he only got 8 years and some change.
They created a service that if people use would make them a profit, and if people don't, then oh well. The only real beef in the article seems to be about some overzealous advertising, which can be annoying but hardly exploitative. It's not like they are chaining fanfiction writers to their desks, forcing them to churn out 20 Harry Potter fanfics a day or else they will be deported.....Can we please lay off the overly emotional language?
anymore. The macbook was updated after 6 months without a product refresh(I don't consider adding an 8 core option to an otherwised unchanged mac pro a refresh, you could do that aftermarket before anyhow). And the previously updated model was the macbook as well. The mac mini is a joke, hasn't seen a real update in over a year, and there are rumors of its demise. The iMac, macbook pros, and mac pros are no longer price competitive with other manufacturers like they were when they first came out. I don't mind paying a little bit more, but this is just stupid. It just seems to me that Apple no longer cares about computers, they want to peddle ipods, overpriced phones, and crappy media center pc replacements. If Apple doesn't majorly ramp up its lines by WWDC, my powerbook G4 will be the last mac I own. I don't want to sit around and wait until Steve Jobs considers computers are important enought to start making good ones again.
It does create several insanely high paying positions that exist to write fluffy statements about "leveraging our diversity to create solutions for our customer".
I only wish that wasn't part of the mission statement of the company I work for....and really wish that the people who write that dribble didn't get 10x my salary....
What exactly does "defending" Islam mean? It's the worlds fastest growing religion, last time I checked something like that didn't exactly need "defending". However, somehow Muslims think that a person not being Muslim is an attack on Islam somehow. They love to play the victiim(much like everyone else in the world, it's the worlds most popular acting role)
Did you read TFA? The author states that often he found other pieces of info besides the card, such as names and telephone numbers(he called some of the owners of cards he found)
Sheesh, if you are going to be pompous at least be correct
to put someone on TV?(unless the filming was incidental, ie you were part of a crowd they were filming). At the very least, can't someone force a television station to not air a piece of footage if they do not sign a waiver? Does this also apply to youtube?
Yes, but Pat Robertson will fire back saying that you were intelligently designed not to see those colors. I mean, if you see too many shades of pink, it might inflame the passions, and we cannot have that happening(unless it creates more spawn)!
in a very roundabout way. The reason XM suspended the show is mainly out of financial self interest; they were afraid that if it seemed like they condoned this type of behavior they would be sued, and they are probably right. The fact that they can be sued over something this banal is the fault of the government. The government can get away with making people afraid to say what they want(no matter how dumb it may be) without directly abridging someone's first amendment rights by awarding huge law suits to whomever feels offended enough to sue. It's still government censorship, but with a better disguise.
here is a story on it and I remember when I was there seeing an add about it on the side of the bus(didn't have any internet equipped devices to test it out). So instead of a paper from a fixed source, couldn't you just as easily bust out your pda/psp/ds/iPhone/whatever on the bus and choose your source of news? These devices also let you do a lot of other things if you don't see any articles that are worthwhile.
Raising taxes on income might do that, but raising sales taxes increases the prices(esp. since here in Germany all prices are marked with taxes included). So when the price is measured, they record an increased price.

Um, you call the movies crap but you still watch them? Yeah, that makes a lot of sense.

If you constantly have fights over the position of the seat, just get a traditional asian toilet, ie a hole in the ground you have to squat over.
then you are going to need a few iracks to store stuff.

Sad the way the justice system works.....
