and the way it is now? You sign up for an account and it says, "Your use of this site constitutes your acceptance of our terms and conditions" and the T&C says "we will collect your data". That sounds like 'opt in' to me.
As long as it's not the government muzzling you then it's not a First Amendment issue. If somebody kicks that soap box out from underneath you then it's between you and him.
Your example is not the same. The wire in the track is not sending intelligent commands from a human. Even if the wire is simply a magnetic "marker", having a tracking device on the bottom of the car and a servo to steer is still self-driving.
Agreed. They should just pipe the methane into peoples homes, and make more of that H2 for fuel cell cars. As long as they can do all of that with renewable power we're good to go.
...relax regulations because of the assumption that a little pollution is actually beneficial.
Thank God humans evolved, thus ending the 4.5 billion year dearth of pollutants that was holding back all the species on the planet. Since the mid 19th century we've been making things so much better!
Been there, done that many times. Nothing more frustrating to see something you know is absolutely impossible! But fairly satisfying when you ultimately find the bug.
Maybe they'll add the same horrible compression to Pandora as they do the satellite so it sounds like complete crap. I canceled my free trial satellite radio in the car because I could not stand the terrible sound quality. FM is better.
Why? One does not preclude the other. Some would call them smart for designing here and building there. How do you think they got to being worth $1 trillion?
"Silicon Valley" is more than just Santa Clara valley. It is the region of high-tech around the Bay Area. Sprawl, and the search for affordable housing.
I admire his painfully honest introspection, but I disagree that it will make Linux worse. Just because he stops cursing at people doesn't mean he will start accepting crap code. I can't imagine he would ever do that.
Good for Linux because he may now attract high quality engineers that have been put off by his harsh demeanor.
an opt-in framework for data collection,

Congratulations, I bet that was hard eh?
Except that each cell is alive, dead, or both.

Their batteries are made by Duracell.
What about Stevia?
No, you're thinking of nitrogen. CO2 will make you die in extreme panic.
I wonder if the way it works is to simply slow you down. If that's true then speed reading is bad.
Burning fuel in an ICE is very inefficient.

"PRESIDENTIAL ALERT: Democrats are saying not nice things about me. Fake news. Sad."
Maybe he fears Twitter will cut him off and he's lining up his plan B.
Is there any way this technology could be integrated into clothing?

I find it hard to claim the car was "self driving" when it was directed by a wire in the test track.
It drove itself without a human. The wire in the rack was the technology used, instead of cameras and computers.
A brick the size and shape and weight of a flat screen TV.
So do like everyone else. Create a dummy account for just this. There won't be any of your personal information for them to get.
Work harder, get a 33% hourly raise.
(*hangs up phone*) "Nah, we're not going to do any of that."

I'm glad I posted as AC so there is no record of me proving I'm an idiot.
FTFY.

I think they charge you for the apple once you pick it up. If you want to eat it in the store, no problem.
We get up at twelve and start to work at one.
Take an hour for lunch and then at two we're done.
Jolly good fun!
