  2. Show us the cost on Apple Says New China Tariffs Would Boost Prices On Some Products (bloomberg.com) · · Score: 1

I wish Apple had the balls to show us what the tarriffs actually cost. They should show their prices like:
    Phone price: $999
    Tariff: $100
    Price you pay: $1099

  13. Buying a 100-year-old Tesla and having to replace the original battery.

100 years is the half-life, so you wouldn't have to replace it, it's just that insane mode becomes mundane mode.

  14. One option to at least help - use a different web browser for Facebook and other social surveillance sites. At least then they can't easily connect your browsing habits with your account.

Right, since they would never be smart enough to connect you by your IP address.

I've been in situations where *I* couldn't determine with certainty where the lanes were or where the edge of the road was. I wonder if autopilot could do any better. At least they are looking in all directions at other cars and could conceivably know to drive centered between other cars... if they were programmed to handle loss of lane lines with a plan B.

Not only do I want to see things chronologically, I want it in FORWARD chronological order, not BACKWARDS chronological order. It only makes sense to see things in the order they are posted. But no, they make ME try to remember if I read something when I get to it. Isn't remembering things like that what computers are supposed to do for us? I guess what I really want is a frickin RSS feed, but I'm sure there's no hope for that.

  17. Those were the good ol' days. I liked groups like sci.crypt and comp.compression where smart guys hung out and some good information could be had. Because it's good for business. Like mail order places that are more lenient with returns because they know people aren't able to examine a product like they would in a store. Perhaps you adhere to the "greedy capitalist" school of business: screw the customer at every chance.
