Well it seams he read it, if you refactor his sentence it would say:
British police National High Tech Crime Unit has foiled an attempted fraud by "hackers using keylogging software".
He just didn't understand it and hence the misleading title:D
I wouldn't say this is a dupe, the other article is about a startup company aiming at what could be considered a similar target. This is new information regarding IBM actually realizing that target.
Why would you do that? Do you record all your phone conversations? IM is just like that, unless it's important (rarely happens) you'll never get to look at it even if it was archived anyway. We just feel the need to archive every piece of information as geeks as long as it's electronic and hence possible.
I do wonder who is actually gonna buy this board in place of their usual favorite, since it's not like people are swapping their processors around every chance they get, unless they don't actually use the computer they've built.
The problem is that by the time you'd want to upgrade your processor and want to have the choice between AMD and Intel, both will have changed their socket designs and u'd need a new mobo anyway.
Keeping it quiet, while not always effective or preferred, is still security (through obscurity).
No No No, security through obscurity is not security, a few hundred years ago locksmiths thought it was, but it never was and never will be
I really can't understand the logic for that. Don't charge for the development and charge for the support? Support money should go to the support personnel so how would you pay the developers?
And if you'll end up charging the same, is there any value in what you "call" the charges?
If you're out looking for suicide info that should mean you're not serious about it. If you are you would have commited it (it's not that hard) without much ado and poking around searching for information.
The thing to note is how easy the Internet made one commit false advertising unknowingly. a website will stay the same unless updated, which is not the case with paper or tv ads... Firms are just not used to the new medium implications.
sometimes bug reports from QA can be a bitch to decode
Yes I agree, that happens, but it usually means that the QA personnel are not sufficiently trained/experienced. Also for a Quality Engineer to come from a development background helps a great deal there...
The developers grew to hate me so much for finding bugs in their code and the RDBMS vendor's code that I was moved to another job (YAY!).
I don't know what kind of developers you were dealing with there, but I am a developer myself and I actually like and respect QA or test engineer who come up with creative and "smart" bugs, they keep it interesting, they make my job easier and they make for a more successful product, so what's there to hate about them?
If everything will be back-ported to XP and Windows 2003, how does Microsoft plan to make any money off Longhorn, which has cost the company a lot in development time and money?
By selling more windows xp and 2003 right now....
Do we call this a dupe or a confirmation ?
history lesson: first it was RTFM, the grandfather of all the RTF* family :)

Good for the married geek to have something to watch while the wife watches Oprah
I guess we should have read the license agreement....
Just for the record, I'm neither a father nor even close.
it will be when your 14 year old boy searches for something for his research paper and gets redirected to pr0n instead.
So is there any sense for MS to adopt an open standard such as XML for saving documents and then prevent others from reading and writing it?

We haven't seen AMD and Intel CPUs since Socket 7
Dude, speak for urself, you have got to have been sleeping for a really long time.....

I'm sure you're a programmer yourself, noone else could have known about the water cooler :)
gotta love the french :)
I thought it was about some new computer product tax to finance open source software :D

Programming isn't a difficult task
That probably means you spent too much time with books and too little time writing code yourself.
The developers grew to hate me so much for finding bugs in their code and the RDBMS vendor's code that I was moved to another job (YAY!).
