Last I looked even the worst currencies in the world don't fluctuate as badly as bitcoin values do. accepting bitcoins is basically gambling.

The company was basically bankrupt, what possible benefit could more workers rights or a union offer? apart from making what little is left to salvage undesirable to anyone?
sounds like one of the original investors in throwing good money after bad. Face it the concept is not a good one with to many downsides and too small a niche market to ever be able to do much more than break even if it's lucky.
yes, it is a url used on millions of websites, hijacking an ad allows them to redirect to their own content or have millions of sites that would trigger whatever else they want.
Most companies that deal with support in these roles have VERY specific guidelines around security to avoid social engineering, obviously apple lack those or the particular person failed miserably.
Gaming actually seems to be the one thing they got 100% correct in 8 not screwed. Direct X improvements, Metro actually makes sense in a gaming context even if it sucks for desktops, win 8 opens and you immediately have your game tiles to click on and most games run in full screen mode. I don't like metro and will look to turn it off but that is purely because I hate the desktop experience, from a tablet or gaming experience it is a pretty sound design.
Valve isn't really interested in comparing performance, they are out to protect their platform and badmouth MS as much as they can. If D11 showed such a difference you can be certain they would have used that rather than DX9 for the numbers.
Actually hitler broke many many laws both locally and internationally in his actions, if he had followed the law he would not have been able to do much of what he did. What he did do though is retroactively change the law to make his illegal actions legal.
All my friends are in their late 30's and early 40's. I guess we must all be on the most wanted list, I think one guy has a facebook page that was only created to test one of the proxies at work and the rest of us have no interest in social media at all. Think I better wear a bullet proof vest to cards tomorrow night just in case!
being a vet is arguably all about controlling or improving. It is important for a vet to understand the nature and handling of animals in order to control and handle them in a safe manner and performing ventinary procedures on them is definitely improving them. changing and improving doesn't necessarily have to be a negative thing.
Sport helps promote health and fitness, lack of these costs you far more than is spent on sports. Sometimes it irks me with how much is spent on some sports, but that is still better than not spending any.
They may have been the key to MS's success in the distant past, but they are also the key to there demise. OEM's ship boxes, that's all they care about, in the past they have simply been able to slap bigger drivers, faster CPU's and more memory in and that was enough to sell their bland boxes. the market has changed considerably over the past 5 years or so where more power isn't really needed by the vast majority and the OEM's have failed to take the lead from Apple who have realised it takes more than just more power to ship to consumers nowadays. OEM's either have to get more creative and innovative or they will start to die off regardless of their glory days, MS seem to have realised this and are at least attempting to get the ball rolling, either the OEM's follow suit or both OEM's and MS are are doomed to spiral down together.
It is about time, so far the oem's have failed misserably for MS. Perhaps this will spur them on to come up with some unique and innovative designs, it seems at the moment the only one that even tries is ASUS.
The problem is how are we any better off for their actions? a whole heap of innocent victims get their privacy arseraped because of a bunch of juvenile twats while the people that they are supposedly yelling at won't even bat an eyelid. Many things in this world are insecure, some like AAPT horribly so, screwing over the victims doubly so doesn't help anyone. It's like shooting someone in the head with a gun to demonstrate to them why you should be careful where they point it.
because in many parts of the world your kids are what you rely on to support you in your old age, combine that with poverty and high mortality and the only safe option is to have lots of kids. modern culture and medicene changes this requirement but only once those poor enough start seeing that they don't need as many children as they can mass produce will that change. Children = retirement insurance.
It seems the developer released a buggy game, Then rushed an even buggier patch and now he is pissed that MS is not going to cover the bill for his failings.
decline of 1% before a major release is bad?? ummm what? that is actually a freakin awesome result for them. These results are actually amazingly good news for MS and I think suprised just about everyone.
When they start to decline we could start looking at there long decline, however this quarter looked like another whopper for them with forward earnings looking even better, beating estimates by a long margin with solid growth despite a weak quarter for PC sales (as is always the case prior to a major version launch).
The point is that Microsoft only stopped it for use by others.
Microsoft Office still used the API that everyone else was told would not be in the release version of Windows.
That is incorrect. Microsoft didn't use it, they completely removed the feature, It was feature that was in the Beta but not available in the final product to WordPerfect or any product (including microsofts own)
This article is a classic example of why game and movie rating are so terrible nowadays. since when is a 67 a terrible score, in proper scoring system it should be at least a pass. It seems sites tend to rate even trash with a range of 60-100. A B- or a 67 is NOT a terrible score, if scoring is done correctly this should be above average but not great. What is the point of having a 0-100 scale if you are not using the range.
Groklaw has been heavily bias for while now. It started off well but has been on the slide for a long time now, it is a shame as the original intent seemed to be unbiased legal opinion.
Your article is back from early 2011, based on data from 2000-2010. It was 2011 that has slowly seen the decline of 3D, in much the same way it burst on as a fad every other time they have tried it and then declined.
this from the wikipedia article on 3d I think puts it best.
"Due to growing popularity of 3D and an increase in 3D screens, an increasing amount of newly released films have been screened in 3D. However, film industry observers have noted that 2011 has shown a considerable decline in audience interest in 3D presentation. For instance, only 45% of the premiere weekend box office earnings of Kung Fu Panda 2 came from screenings in the 3D presentation format as opposed to 60% for Shrek Forever After in 2010.[31] In addition, the premiere of Cars 2 opening weekend gross consisted of only 37% from 3D theatres.[32] In view of this trend, there has been box office analysis concluding the implementation of 3D presentation is apparently backfiring by discouraging people from going to movie theatres at all. As Brandon Gray of Box Office Mojo notes, "In each case, 3D's more-money-from-fewer-people approach has simply led to less money from even fewer people."[33]"
And in fact most people actually prefer 3D over 2D movies.
In what imaginary land did you find this fact. I think if ever there was a need for a citation you just found it, please provide. 3D is hated not because people are too cool, It is hated because it is psuedo 3D which causes a significant part of the population headaches and nausia, It is also hated as studios use it as an excuse to charge more for tickets, charge more for TV's and spend more time tacking on useless gimmicks to a movie rather than actually making a good story. Your "most people actually prefer 3D over 2D movies" is also completely falsified by the continued struggle of the studios and manufacturers to successfully push the technology, if it is so loved why is everyone abandoning it?

For comparison, that latter speed would be enough to copy 20 full-length Blu-ray movies in a second.'
someone doesn't understand the difference between bits and bytes.

you just completely MISSED the point. He was pointing out that the difference may not even be related to DX vs OpenGL.
