Also, N has said that Revolution's controller will be easy for anyone to play with with out any troubles. So I really doubt that it will be programmable or adjustable. Those sorts of features are helpful to power-gamers, not casual gamers and non-gamers.

other than that, I agree, N's new system will be the only way. The only reason I would get a ps3 is for a nice linux server. ...Unless of course N really screws up with the revolution... then gaming will probably die soon, for me anyway.

Releasing more than one version of the same console would simply take away the one thing that I love about consoles. They are simple and easy. You dont have to check for system requirements to play a game. You just have to have the system. But, if the consoles are acctually differant in any signifigant way, then you will have to check to see if you have the right version of the xbox. However, if they both play all the same games just the same, then what is the point of the more expensive version?

  10. Is this good or bad for the PSP? on UMD Approved As An ECMA Standard · · Score: 1

Since it is now a standard, doesn't this mean that it will just let other companies make portable (and non-portable) movie players that use it?

Therefore the people that would get a PSP just for the movies would just get a cheaper device that does not play game?

Then again I suppose why would you buy a moive player when for a little more money you can get a good video game player too?

I just dont see how sony will benifit from the UMD standard. Unless you somehow have to pay sony to make a UMD player/maker.

My understanding of trademarking is that they can trade mark numbers, but only in the contexts of the name of spreadsheet software. Like how there is a Thunderbird car, but Thunderbird the email program does not violate the trademark of Thunderbird, the car.

So, you could not make, say, a spreadsheet called GNU-Numbers, but you could make an address book program called GNU-Numbers.
However, IANAL, so don't name things Numbers just to be safe, and to prevent confusion.

Also, a patent is very differant from a trademark.
