I still love Wired for its content, but their new layout sucks. It seems as though there are just too many fonts on a single page. This is a fad I've noticed on many websites. Hopefully this passes real soon.
I think it is quite easy to do offline processing. Obviously you need the server app on your local network / workstation. This might be a problem with closed source apps like *insert whatever*, but open source app servers like Zope will work fine. Synching the local and remote database is also not a big deal.
Still, I foresee Google writing a nice installer for the local app server, which means normal computer users will be able to use it.
My major gripe is that this is a seemingly obvious and nice GUI feature. Does it warrant a patent?
Microsoft frequently gets lashed by the Slashdot community and rightly so, but in this case I support them. I'm sure someone thought of this feature years ago but just did not have the resources to put it into their software. If I were Microsoft I'd say screw Korea - we don't need them.
I really don't see the point in newer and faster graphics cards for PC's anymore. When the GeForce2 launched I was still impressed and just had to have one, but now that I can actually easily afford any graphics card I find myself returned to my console roots. Why? Because the shiny graphics are boring.
I can still play Baldur's Gate on my PC - that's all I need. Good enough graphics and great fun.
It has only a gas pedal. You have to pull the door handle and hit gas simultaneously to brake.
I switched the gearlever from the traditional five to a more ergonomical two gears and second gear is the default. Studies have proven that more motorists pull away in second.
We expect this new model to replace traditional models around the same time DVORAK replaces QWERTY.
The only situation I can think of is when commuting by public transport. Also, the content must be of a high quality and not just some local TV station's news. Watching sport is probably ok.
But the screen is still way too small. I wonder if it is possible to design a system which transmits two beams of light which are invisible until they cross in the air. Then by some magical interference they create colour. If you can move the beams very rapidly (much like a normal CRT does) then you can create an image in mid-air.
As for living in the Soviet Union - I assume he didn't. Even so, lying about where he lived does not constitute libel.
However I can understand his unhappiness at the situation. Futhermore it is not his responsibility to go and edit the article. Why should he repair damage caused by others?
I think Wikipedia is going to be in the crossfire increasingly since it is not easy to stop malicious content in a very short time.
Aha!
Behold Slashdot...
Two Snowflakes May Be Alike After All
I hear you.

Chicken sensors Google
I found a quicker route to my office. Now I'm going to patent that route and anyone who wants to use my route must pay me royalties!
Seriously, ridiculous "patents" like this want me to torch the patent office (or the applicant, whichever works).
4^11 = 4.2 billion. Should be 4.2 million?

Yes, damn it. Get it right!
"Where can I put the meter?"
And so it failed. Apparently.
Aha, I was waiting for that one!
I'll do so tomorrow when the dupe for the self-cleaning mouse thingy is posted.

Waiting for the Wii, waiting for the Wii...
Title says it all...
Aargh! I before E except after C! Received. Not recieved.
If I had modpoints I'd mod you all the way up to 10!
Oh please. This is nothing new. My muscles increase to 200 times their original strength after vast amounts of alcohol!
Please.
Everyone knows it is illegal to hunt extinct animals.
per se
From the summary: "the negative reactions Chinese players recieve on"
And further down: "If the sentences contain spelling or grammar mistakes, the player is rejected"
Recieve -> receive

Why would I watch TV on a small screen?

Any thoughts?
Toys! Like Warcraft figures. Mario and Wario. In little karts.
Good point.

Retard.
And you also have blood on your hands since a portion your tax-money goes into weapons research. Unless you're Swiss...
Is it better to walk or run in the rain? Which keeps you drier?
Is it alive?
But a bit more seriously: when Bob Marley died did they really discover new species of insect in his hair? Can insects actually live in a moustache?
