    It also could be done to avoid the costs associated with recycling outdated hardware.

    But, in this day and age, isn't every abandoned piece of luggage treated like a WMD? I would expect a lot more bomb squad activity at airports based on these (surely inflated) numbers.

    Nice try, but no. Are you not familiar with the concept of one person's rights ending where they affect those of another? The GP is not inflicting his beliefs on religious people or anyone else. He is merely longing for a day when religious people's beliefs are not inflicted upon him. (Good luck with that, BTW...there is no cure for stupid.)

    IANAM, but with melting points over 600 degrees C apart, I still think the "grind and melt" approach would be much more simple than getting other chemicals involved. Just control the smelting temperature to a consistent 600 degrees C (about 200 degrees above where Zn melts and about 400 degrees below where Cu melts) and you would be golden.

    I can't speak for the GP, but I am fine with people being free to set up their page however they like. What better "bozo filter" could there possibly be than the aforementioned webcrimes? If someone wants to put white text on a yellow background in 4pt type while attempting to blast some shitty MIDI file at me, I don't need to ever see or hear anything from that person again. If I met that person face to face, it would probably take much longer to determine that they are a complete dumbass.

    Is anyone else envisioning this stirring up the same kind of drama that arose back in the Carter administration when there was the big push to make the U.S. join the rest of the world on the metric system? That went over great.

    What needs to happen is this: Associate our current uniform currency color/size with terrorism in some way. Then we will happily change over to beads and shells if necessary.
