I found that after most people moved on from Q3:Rocket Arena the community that stayed behind had a lot of people who were just there to have fun and blow the crap out of each other.
The odd jerk would come on to a server now and then, but for the most part it was a blast.
The "pro" griefers tend to stick to whatever is new and hot, because there's more victims and with that, more people who don't know how to deal with them.
As soon as you produce any work, you or your employer own it and have copyright on the product.
Whether it's a poem, a novel, an application, or a pornographic video.
No one has the right to distribute or profit from its distribution without express permission.
Sure the guy that made it gave it away to his friends, but the fellow that put it up for sale had made no business arrangement with the creator and was therefore violating copyright.
If all the torrent sites going down carried Apple torrents you might have a leg to stand on, but not all carry software. Some only carry TV shows or movies.
It's like people who get lesser sentences for attempted murder. They *tried* to kill someone, yet they're rewarded for ineptitude by receiving a lesser sentence.
Sounds cool:) Even from inside the industry it can be a chore to get ideas turned into product, since everyone has a dream game. I'm working on a couple of ideas to prop to the boss soon too:)
A friend has completed a software package for playing PnP RPGs online and is pitching it now, but the going is slow. Some companies are pretty resistant to computers and the net unless it involves flashy graphics and a dumbed down game system.
Great writing, definitely, but the one thing I found really strange was during The Train Job episode, when they encountered the Reavers in space.
Two ships, heading in opposite directions between planets, and they just happen to cruise past each other at a rate of only a few meters per second.
You'd think they'd zip past each other, or even if the systems slowed down the ships for crash avoidance it would automatically put more distance between them.
Still, it gave the scene the tension they wanted to portray.
CALLAWAY, Fla. - Help, police, someone stole my pot! A Panhandle couple is under arrest after notifying police Thursday that their quarter-pound stash of marijuana was stolen and that they needed the weed back, because they were going to later sell it.
"They're America's dumbest criminals," said Lt. Ricky Ramie, head of the Bay County Sheriff's Office narcotics task force.
Deputies arrested 18-year-old John Douglas Sheetz and 17-year-old Misty Ann Holmes and charged the duo with possession of marijuana with intent to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to the police report, the couple returned to the home they share and found the home broken into and a quarter-pound of marijuana missing. They immediately called authorities to report the break-in and theft.
Police said the couple told them they were going to resell the marijuana and allowed the detectives to search the apartment. Investigators discovered several marijuana stems among other drug paraphernalia during the search, The News Herald in Panama City reported for Saturday editions.
They were taken to the Bay County Jail and are each being held on $17,500 bond.
Well, obviously you believe in the invisible man in the sky.
How exactly does he talk to you?
Because it's interesting that the manifestations of God are eerily similar to the onset of mental illness.
There was coverage of this on CBC morning radio this week.
Apparently, despite repeated requests by medical professionals, Dow refuses to hand over a list of the chemicals used to produce the gas, citing Trade Secrets.
Until they make an effort to help these people find effective treatments for their afflictions the company should be put under heavy sanctions.
If I get another one I'd be happy to share.
I sent out an invite to someone already and he didn't check it in time, so it expired. But it didn't give me a new invite right away.
I imagine it will give me another one to send out eventually.
Forfeiture laws don't work.
Look at the beginning of the "War on Drugs" when people actually lost their houses and cars for getting caught with POT, not just the hard drugs.
People still kept buying and selling drugs.
Deterrents don't work very well because people don't expect to get caught. It's always "the other guy" whose stupid enough.
But Nazi's are the antagonists in Wolf3D.
A Swastika used in conjunction with "evil" characters would be acceptable.
But if there were a "heroic" or playable character in older games, the chances of any Nazi insignia being associated with them would be nil.

I like it! :)
You gotta publish that. Online or in treekilling format.
Oh fuck off you idiot.
If all the torrent sites going down carried Apple torrents you might have a leg to stand on, but not all carry software. Some only carry TV shows or movies.
So by your reasoning, if someone can get into your house and clean it out, then it's your fault.
What's your address?
Or it could be the fact that the MPAA publicly stated they were going after torrent sites a week or two ago.
Or it could be they shared a game and a publisher went after them.
Or their bandwidth bills all came in and they realized the DDOSs they were being hit with were going to cripple them financially.
Or I could just be spouting off useless rumor with no basis in fact like parent.
That's not a silver lining, it's frostbite. :)
Should incompetence be rewarded?
It's like people who get lesser sentences for attempted murder. They *tried* to kill someone, yet they're rewarded for ineptitude by receiving a lesser sentence.
Plus one might make such a purchase knowing that media hype will generate massive interest in the game, and create a potential market of newbies.

1 + 1 = 3
Nooooooooooooooo!
What games have you worked on?
For some reason I envision someone standing at a podium flapping their arms about while they say those words :)
Such flowery prose for Slashdot.

Arrested for being idiots? "Mr. Bush, you're under citizens arrest!" :)
Here's a recent one :)

If god is such a powerful being, why does he need TV evangelists to speak on his behalf?

As long as they don't bring Gonarch along. Now that would be a terrible mascot.
Is the murderer home at the time? :)
Does it make it any easier for you to get upskirt shots? :P
