I pay $60AUD/month for 512k with a 16GB download limit:( After that I get throttled. I got throttled last month and it was *painful* downloading stuff at 6KB/second.
Australia *sucks* for internet access.
I just donated $50AUD. I got the link to the red cross off of the Apple Australia website. Thanks for pointing it out to me that Apple had that information.
Weird place for getting information for donating money, but it worked.
However, the University site for getting student details requires IE to get into. So even though I installed the User Agent Switcher extension and taught them how to use it to fool the site into thinking they are IE - they forgot how to do that, and next time I was there there was a "Shortcut to IEXPLORE.EXE" icon on their desktop.
They don't blame the people who wrote the site either. They blame the browser for not working with the site. Even if I explain that the people who wrote the site are locking others out for no reason (it's not like it uses ActiveX or anything, the site works perfectly in firefox).
Next time I go there, I will see an IE icon on the desktop again. *sigh*
Can I get rid of executeable permissions on IEXPLORE.EXE without horrific consequences?:)
What about those 4-5 DVD sets? You could get them all one one disk. Sounds good to me.
Movie studios will find ways of filling it up, dont worry about that.
It's weird, just about every screenshot people post on here is from a windows PC. Granted, most people are running Firefox instead of IE at least, but still - I thought we would have a higher % of Linux/BSD/Other users on this site.
I was just reading about what is allowed in my own country, and it seems that we do allow embryonic stem cell research, as long as those embryos are leftovers from IVF treatments, and they are used with the parents consent. Article Here:
some of us had a really good experience with steam. I purchased the Silver version, and it couldn't have been easier. I was playing within hours of the activation servers being up. I have not had the game crash once. The only problem I've had is with the stuttering, but that's not too bad if I put texture detail at medium.
Steam is a good service, IMO. It has some teething problems, and completely ignores dialup users, but I like it.
And in the future there will be ways of playing hl2 even if valve is not around. If I can't activate it legally in 10 years time, I'll use a crack or some other hack to make it work. Hopefully if Valve was self destructing they would open up their games for anybody to use so that it would not require authentication anymore.
Ive got a Gigabyte K8T800 Pro Motherboard, but the AMD site doesn't list it as supporting cool'n' quiet:( I have the AMD64 3200+ CPU.
Is there a tool for Linux that I can run that will tell me for certain if Cool'n'Quiet is supported?
Hopefully there would be efficient ways to recycle old batteries so they can be re-used. Lest we end up with a (worse) landfill problem as millions of people start using electric cars.
I think its workable. It has to be workable. We have to get off this addiction to oil at some stage.
Do you know if it's possible to hook up old commodore C64 type joysticks to a PC? It's hard to play using the keyboard or a normal PC joystick. I need a clicky one:)
My C64 won't read disks anymore. I may try that program you posted, thanks.
Unfortunately we just re-elected our conservative US-Loving government, who will gladly feed us to a pack of dogs if the US asked for it. John Howard is completely spineless.
Fuck it makes me made that the dick heads of this country voted them in again.
Go and look at the specifications at the bottom of the page for the PMP-120. It does *NOT* list Ogg Vorbis as a supported format.
Seriously how did this get +5 informative?
It's from Orgazmo the movie.
It means "Double Vagina, Double Ass".
If you still don't know what it means, you haven't watched enough porn.
I haven't used it for a while, but back then it didn't have an MDI interface, which I didn't like.
I prefer all the windows to be under the control of a single parent window. I guess it's the same reason why the GIMP interface is kind of annoying.
However, on Linux, if you give the app it's own desktop to sit on, it's manageable.

With some clever writing, somebody could make quite an interesting "office space" like comedy out of a story like this.
Seriously. Script writers, where are you?

Hmmmm, I thought that's why we had the earth pin on the plug. Or don't you use that in the USA?

No you don't. Americans like guns, don't they?
If we move to Tasmania, does that mean I have to marry my sister, or my cousin or something? Bunch of inbreds down there :)
New Zealand is our Canada, dim wit :)

It's an English/UK term referring to somebodies balls/ballsack. As is my understand (I'm Australian, but some people use that term here too).
Valve has just disabled 20,000 steam accounts for using a banned CD key!
:) Anyone want to submit this as a slashdot story in the games section? I can't be fscked writing it up.
Story here.
Interesting reading

Sounds like Telstra.
Is this what happens to all government run companies that go private?
Somebody in the Sydney morning herald gave them an earful here.

Why couldn't she be the other kind of mermaid with the fish part on the top and the lady part on the bottom!?!?!?
Imagine working tech support for a company that makes those!
... I'm sure others can come up with something funnier.
"Hi, um, my penis appears to be caught in the unit, what should I do?"
"My Satanic Robot Chick doesn't give good head, how can I make it work better?"
