It might not be that much harder to generate a collision like this:

Oh, and that for just 36 million? You know, for 36 million there are lots of ways you can screw someone over, easier ways...
Hmm otherwise I know a place where you cann steal normal stuff for £0! Just look for stores without those pesky alarm systems and you have yourself a bargain!
Actually, according to the source I read, They use wood for the E85 fuel while grain is used when they mix-in 5% ethanol in regular fuel.
When using wood I think they use (or plan to use) so called energy forests. When creating the ethanol there's by-products that are used for warming houses.
And even if the wood is more useful in power plants, that doesn't solve the (eventual) global warming problem, we need transportation, even if it isn't the most energy effective way of using our resources. At least in short term I think it is the easiest way to start preserving our earth for the future.
But maybe you are right that it isn't as easy in all countries to start use ethanol, Sweden is after all quite low-populated and have lots of free(and sometime unused) land compared to many other countries.
If you have access to ethanol fuel in your area you can mix in 15% without any change to your car, that makes the car better too!
Sorry for spelling grammar mistakes, as you can guess I'm not native English speaker.
I think you are a bit fucused on corn.
In Sweden we use wood, wheat and grain.
I can't find any data on how much fuel the harvesting consumes, but since it's cheaper to use ethanol than gasoline (because of tax differences) I'd guess that it isn't a large problem. If you have any data that'd be nice to see.
Actually, if the CO" is vcausing the warming there's not much we have to do.
The only thing we have to do is to stop getting energy out of the earth, that means no coal, no oil and no peat. We won't even have to get rid of our cars, since they can perfectly run* on ethanol, that can be made out of stuff we can grow.
I don't see why pople object to this, even if most of the scientists in tha area are wrong and there, in fact, are no human-caused global warming, whats the harm? Better to be safe than sorry. IMO.
*Older cars need a small modification to do this, newer cars only need their computers to be reseted.
You'll still have one problem left: Focus. That's the hardest to overcome problem with 3D emulating. Your idea should give very cool results, but they will feel a bit wrong.
Well, for a basic website you only need to know like ten html tags(and some of then can be placed in a template) and some basic css.
Sure you have spent lots of time on learning web design, but lot of that knowledge isn't important for a basic site, and a lot of it is probably useless if you do not develop for really old browsers without real css-support.
Now, I haven't myself used the html tutorial, I learned mostly by viewing source code and by reading the w3c recomendation(I read it top-to-bottom, both html and css), but I don't think it would take long before you can make that basic page that looks decent. I don't think reading a book about it makes it go faster atleast.
As mentioned in another post the biggest problem usually are the content, if you have that, the page is practically done...
A journalist should be allowed to publicise any information he can get hold of, if the military don't want him to reveal their location they should arrange an NDA.
It's even a good journalistsw duty to break laws sometimes when neccescary.
The police that don't want the information about the investigatin of a crime shouldn't reveal the information, that's how it works and how it should work.
As mentioned in another post, if journalists have to be acountable for anything they write(that isn't abuse of their role, like algined information) how can they do their job properly?
Our whole democracy stands, and falls, on the free information, how are you supposed to be able to do an educated choice, if your information are controlled by the government?
Music should be free as in speech?
I think you(and many others) have mixed up things here, music is already free as in speech, anyyone are allowed to make what music they want without being silented by the government or a company.
What people really want is that information should be free, for anyone to enjoy, regardless of their economy.
If you support her actions I'd think it would be a better move to donate money to her rather than buying the album, showing that what you really care about is that she makes free music, not that you just like the music.

I see they have allready started, by removing all other countries.;)
and a significant amount of slashdot's readership doesn't have english as a first language?
Well, even though English isn't my first language I'd prefer text to be in english rather than german. Just because you don't natively speak english that don't mean that you know all other languages.
So on an english site it is preferable with english texts, as that enables everyone to read, rather than just a small group of gearmans/french/italians/swedes/etc.
But ofcourse they don't want to translate the site just for slashdots sake, but that's another discussion.
If you don't want people to restrict your game to over 18s, try toning down the over-the-top violence and sexuality, although that requires some decent game design which is where most big develoeprs fail.
I don't like the creators of games to have to "censor" themselves. I can see why some people want to protect their 8 year olds from some violent games, but a 17 year old?
I want the game(movie/musicvideo/book/e.t.c.) as the creator intended it to look, I don't want it to be censored just so it fit in some stupid legislation!
It's not a question about skill on the game-designers behalf, it's a question about freedom for him to include what he thinks makes the game better.
With such legislation the result will be that some games have to take away content that would have enrichened the gamers experience just because they want to reach a wider audience, I see no winner in that. I know I, as a gamer, would be a loser in it.
Well there is NVU. That is according to their own words
"A complete Web Authoring System for Linux Desktop users as well as Microsoft Windows users to rival programs like FrontPage and Dreamweaver."
It's in it's third pre-release of the 1.0 beta and are based on Mozilla Composer.
But it's always better to code by hand, since you usually can't make semathically correct code in a WYSIWYG editor. (though for design some of them are usable.)
""" These kinds of statements always angers me: I can't see why I shouldn't support Microsoft, if their technology happens to be better suited to my needs than the competitions? """
Bacause we live in a capitalistic society.
In a capitalistic world there are one important fact = money equals power. When you, as a customer, choose Microsoft's sollution, you are not only choosing what sollution you use for the problem at hand, you are also giving MS a political vote to act like they do.
Now, we have a juridical system that are supposed to counter the money=power-fact, but the problem is that the players with very large amounts of money can use them to fight back(and also affect the laws by supporting certaing politicians, although this is not true for all countries.) like Microsoft has been able to do in most of their trials: they still are one company that use their position in one market to enhance their position in other markets.
So just like some people don't vote for a certain Bush with their vote in elections, they don't vote for Microsoft with their money. (or, inte the case of free web services, their time)
Why does that make you angry?
[Oh, and imagine that the above was written in clear and nice-to-read English]
The problem isn't that 15$ is expensive in any way.
The problem is that that's only one little small feature, that should have been delivered with the computer at the first place, and on macs very much of the software is Shareware $15, where it on *nix or Windows either(like in this case) is default behaviour or is open source. Often very simple sollutions to faults in the os is only avaible as shareware, that makes it 15*small or big gripes or problems.
Personaly I think that shareware is kinda unfair to all those who have very little money. I remember at school, where we all got a mac, when I still believed in nnot pirateing software. It was wery much of the basic software that I could not use, like mp3-players and FTP-clients just because my income simply was not. At that time I promised myself that if I decided to write software on my spare time I'd write it as freeware.
Windows is horribly inconsistent about what the RMB is actually for, and you don't know whether or not a feature actually exists until you try right-clicking on random objects to have a look.
Well, since the standard(that very rarely are broken) are that RMB shows a context menu, you don't risk breaking anything when trying your way in the GUI.
I rather like GUI:s that you can learn by exploring than those that either have very limited functionality or an interface that requires reading manuals.
IMO keeping the one-button mouse is the stupidest decision apple havbe ever made, and I'm sure they have lost very many customers on that. I, for one, would really hesitate before buying an apple laptop even if I had the money. If I'd buy a desktop I'd buy a real mouse the first thing I did.
But that doesn't harm the customer the same way bogus domains do.

Cost: none.
For the 3% figure to be accurate there only have to be around 30 dvd-copying softwares, do your math... :P

When using Windows you should always be behind a firewall(hard or soft) that blocks all incomming traffic that you haven't explicitly allowed.
I, for one, will not rush to make those updates, yet I feel safe.
