    Rather than entering their maximum bid like they should, these people put in an amount less than their max, then see if anyone raises them, then they raise their price, etc
    The max is, well, the maximum you'd be prepared to pay. Not what you absolutely intend to pay in any circumstances - any rational person would be happy to pay less. Isn't that how auctions are supposed to work - you try to bid just enough, but not too much?

    If you pay for a cheap unit and they give you an expensive one with the additional features disabled instead, you have no cause to whine about it being disabled
    You have every cause, it's stupid and wasteful and it treats the customer as a mug. It's like selling the same engine as a 2.5 litre and 3 litre, the difference being that on the former you pull one of the spark plugs out.


    You can bet if it was M$ doing it, every other post would contain 'crippleware' 'intentional hobbling' (probably 'DRM' too) and get modded up for it.

    Females are not worth more - they are worth equal.
    There's some evidence that females are better at language. One of the consequences is that they can spot such things as conditional statements - and distinguish them from plain assertions of the protasis.

    No one is sure how they do this. Maybe it involves actually reading the post and checking if it has "if" in it somewhere.
