  1. Re:Too much buying power... on Wal-Mart Controls Modern Game Design? · · Score: 1

"The government is elected by the people, for the people."

Unfortunately it seems most people are afraid to vote for a third-party because they'll never win (I think it's a self-fulfilling prophecy, don't you agree?) and the US is stuck with two oligopolic parties that are both pretty similar when you look at the big picture.

And like the AC above me said, Wal-Mart is elected by people, in fact, I'd say moreso than political parties. If you voted for Dubya two years ago and you want him out of office now, well, too bad. If most people hated Wal Mart, it would adapt or die. And most people would probably hate Wal Mart if they were educated.

    1. Only "one third" (seven) will by made by Nintendo. RTFA.
    2. You listed Mario RPG twice, though you're actually accurate since there are two such franchises: Paper Mario and Mario & Luigi. Both franchises have a spotless record.
    3. It's "Wario World", and there's only been one. And while it was good (for a rental), it certainly sucked compared to most Treasure developed games.
    4. Almost every (real) franchise you listed has been critically acclaimed at one point or another, and some of them (Zelda, Mario, Mario Golf/Tennis, Metriod (sic) Prime) are totally outstanding. Well apparently some people didn't like Sunshine, but I'm still listing Mario platformers as having an outstanding record.
    5. To imply that the Revo is going to be the only console that will have sequels is pretty questionable.

My bets for the 7 launch "window" titles are: Smash, Mario 128, Pennant Chase Baseball, WarioWare (fingers crossed), Metroid Prime 3, hmmmm. Can't guess the other two. But they'll be delayed anyways ;). And I'm hoping for Mario Party 8 as one of the 20. It wouldn't be one of the 7 because Nintendo doesn't make it.

Yeah, but they also make WarioWare and Brain Age.

And they've said a million times they're going to fund indie studios to make games for the Revo. Couple that with cheaper dev kits, no HD BS to worry about, and apparantly they're saying companies can make new games for the virtual console (does this mean they're going to sell NES/SNES/N64 dev-kits? I don't know).

  12. Marketing Speak on 360 To Be Relaunched In Japan · · Score: 3, Insightful

What is this "relaunch"? A console can only launch once.

Are they going to bundle a game with it? Nintendo's done that with the Gamecube like 4 times and they weren't called "relaunches". Are they going to ship more consoles? No... that's not neccessary. Are they going to market it agressively? That's still not a "relaunch", that's a "marketing campaign".

Maybe it's just a different interpretation of the word "launch". To me it means "the first time you sell your product to the public". Maybe to them the meaning is "the first time the public buys your product".

Sure, I'm looking too much into this, but a term like "re-launch" peeves me. It's like how the little things got to the Seinfeld gang.

Yeah, but they could've (actually have) done that one older consoles. Metroid with Metroid Prime, Excitebike with Excitebike 64, lots of games in Animal Crossing, etc.

They should offer more freedom this time: certain games should come with a few virtual console dollars or something. Even better (and I wasn't the one who thought of this), make gamers earn that virtual money as if they were XBox gamer points.

Overcome a few technical hurdles and it can be done.

Actually I'd probably consider renting Madden for the Revo over any other console. I wouldn't actually rent it, I'm just saying it would be the closest I'd ever come to renting it.

Whereas on most consoles every receiver is marked with a button and you look for an open one and press that button (snooze), on the Revo you would have the added challenge of actually having to point at the intended receiver, and then press A to throw, compensating for where he's running. That would be a lot more realistic, and gives you a lot more control over your throws, ie interceptions would more often be your own fault. Moreover, if you decide last second to throw to a different receiver, you'd actually have to move the controller over to the other reciever and try to be as accurate as possible under a lot of time pressure, as opposed to just hitting a different button.

Don't get me started on play-making, audibles, etc.
