indeed. i'd appreciate a free copy of vc, but i already have 2 copies of vb that i rarely touch. one copy was free, the other came with the book i needed for software development 1 (CIS course).
and i'm not even a cs major, i just enjoy taking some of the classes (java/unix).
Plan: March 2005: OOo 2.0 Beta May 2005 : OOo 2.0 changes will be done on separated branch, the trunk (HEAD) will then be used for the next OOo major (3.0 ?) release. May 2005: OOo 2.0 rc June 2005 : OOo 2.0 Q3 2005: OOo 2.0.1
*nod* i was hoping that it would have been free like the anti-spyware software that they bought from giant.
I suppose i'll just keep using AntiVir on the windows machine.
look at the top 10 hits at distrowatch, and count the number that are either debian or based on it. i'd really like to see more cooperation between them, and the eventual release of sarge as a solid base.
Optimus Prime: I've killed a hell of a lot of robots to get to this point, but I only have one more. The last one. The one I'm flying to right now. The only one left. And when I arrive at my destination, I am gonna kill Megatron.
i'm typing on a thinkpad right now... and one with an intel 855gme... this having been said, i'm planning on getting an apple laptop next time. this machine can play ut2004 at the lowest settings with a good enough framerate that i don't mind it.

The Sony Vaio U weighs in at 1.2 lb - light for a PC, heavy for a digital media player - uses a 20GB 1.8" drive and plays audio, video and anything else. The cost is $2000, far more expensive than an iPod and more than most laptops, so the premium priced Vaio U is not the most cost effective if you only want an entertaiment device. For road warriors whose company is picking up the tab.
i'd be happier with a $2000 laptop, i wouldn't risk the chance of losing/smashing such a flimsy looking player.
Rest in peace. Your contributions live on.
same here, i first started reading slashdot during a 9am psychology lecture
The coolermaster cavalier series is also an excellent set of cases. While not constructed of 100% aluminum, it's a great case for $60-80 (newegg)

very true, my old job was operating a VM mainframe... it took the first month just learning all the commands.
it took just as long to remember my password and mask code for CICS/E
*raises hand*
i've done it, and killed a redhat box. wasn't much of a loss, i threw debian on right after.
fileplanet is hosting some of the ones that were in the top 10, free to download
that and the fact that it functions like a lightsaber
i'd take a look at it if they included the latest gnome... good to see ooo 1.1.4 and firefox 1.0.2 though.

i might be the only one, but i'm not seeing any problems. running 1.0.2, windows xp, no extensions.

these products do exist, and i suppose if you didn't own a computer, it might be a pretty decent deal
it might just be me, but it also sounds a little desperate.

the icons look a lot better now, the old ones didn't look nearly as polished.

once the unofficial DM was setup, valve probably felt the need to release an official version.
i never tried the hacked DM, i had hoped this would happen and behold!
