In Avatar, mankind has the ability to cross the voids of space in an effort to mine a mineral rich alien world.
Bring these minerals back for refinemant and use. We have the ability to implant a human mind into an alien avatar body
that we have ourselves created and control that persons new avatar body. And yet we can't repair a paralyzed human body?
Fail.
It's my understanding that the winner won't be put on television in any way. How is this going to reach anyone besides people that are already interested in Linux? Point being- people that are *already* interested in Linux will probably try it anyway. This is just a feel good about ourselves project but I guess it's a fun one though.
Well. It seems like Yahoo is trying to actually not do evil and Google is trying to talk about not doing evil while making it palatable for the masses. Or something. (Insert witty statement illustrating contrasting styles of Google and Yahoo here)
Yes, let the festivities begin I say. I hope the masses purchase the hell out of some new tv's so that prices fall a bit. I want a new flat screen for cheaper than I can get one now. And yes, I am cheap.
If you could post an explanation of how I could safely play this game without buying a dedicated machine which will never do anything but play this one game, that'd be great.
Just wait for it to hit the consoles. Unless it fails so hard that it doesn't get ported. But that is unlikely. DRM SecuROM type tactics are killing pc gaming more than piracy.
- You should hire the Hells Angels and pay them with beer. Make sure you announce it nationwide and let everyone know that event is free. Then you let someone film a doc about it. Oh, and make sure you have everyone stand out in the hot sun all afternoon before it kicks off. And don't forget to make it easy for everyone to have easy access to drugs an alcohol.
Because the purifying concrete offsets the pollution incurred from mining the titanium to create the concrete? Am I wrong in thinking I knew an old lady who swallowed a fly? Someone weigh in on this please. Thanks:P
Perception is everything. I think most people remember how Jobs came back and restored Apple to what they once were and how without him Apple seemed to fade a bit. So naturally, it *superficially* appears that Apple needs him more than he needs Apple and if he leaves, becomes terminally ill or dies so does the innovation at Apple. That may or may not be the case but it seems so on the surface.
...Why does anyone expect anything different than what we see here. McCarthyism is alive and well under the new management that has relabeled communism as terrorism. Power mongers mongering their power.
He's called "evil" because he got his money by
* Monopoly abuse ("that's a nice little program you've got there, Stac...")
* Running competitors into the ground (no, that's not business as usual)
* Raw hypocrisy ("Open Source is Evil. Just don't look at ftp.exe.")
* Flat-out fraud ("sure, IBM, I have an OS I can sell you")
The guy's an ass who's held computing back for the last 25 years through actions that'd get you and me imprisoned, or at least run out of business.
By your logic, it doesn't matter how he got his wealth as long as he gives a little bit away. Well, nuts to that. Warren Buffett's doing pretty OK for himself and I'm unaware of any similar allegations against him.
It's OK that Bill's fake-donating money to charity, but he's still an ass. Why oh why can't I have mod points for that!!!! Mod this up as +1 insightful people.
The concept of IP is here to stay. We have too many laws already on the books and there is too much money invested in IP for anything to drastically change. The power brokers in Hollywood and in Washington are only going to perpetuate the current system as long as they can.

Yeah, the impact from the car won't scratch you, but when it shoves you into a stationary lamp post or wall at 45 mph you will still splatter.

Is it really the " year of the Linux desktop"?

Come on, you know the battlefields of the future are going to look like a 1980's G.I. Joe cartoon. Hilarious. Wait... Not really hilarious...
There. Fixed that for you.

and the science of drugs. I kid, I kid.

+1 insightful my friend.
Just wait until they find out what he has done to WOPR.
(robot voice)"No, you can keep it. I will not risk valorous death for someone who mismanages the government funding of my chosen profession.
"No, you don't understand..."
(loud robot voice)"I SAID KEEP IT!"
Look, I know xp is what everyone wants, but it should be obvious that the days are numbered for this OS.
Oh and also, cue the chair jokes in 3,2,1...
Because that is just want Microsoft wants to hear. Yahoo is teaming with Google. Burn baby burn.
NO $H!T
NO.

Exactly, but they excised all that hardware compatibility somewhere along the way.
