I have been running Gentoo on the first gen Surface Pro ever since I got the 256GB SSD model that was only available in Japan at the time. Formatted the drive and got rid of Windows on the same day I got it and never had problems booting with UEFI. WiFi used to break down occasionally in the first few months, but things got fixed with later Linux kernels, haven't had any issues with WiFi for at least a couple of years now. Love the 10.6 inch form factor btw, perfect for traveling! And I do travel often.
The European Commision have just announced an agreement whereby English will be the official language of the EU rather than German, which was the other possibility. As part of the negotiations, Her Majesty's Government conceded that English spelling had some room for improvement and has accepted a 5 year phase-in plan that will be known as "Euro-English":
In the first year, "s" will replace the soft "c"... Sertainly, this will make the sivil servants jump with joy. The hard "c" will be dropped in favor of the "k". This should klear up konfusion and keyboards kan have 1 less letter.
There will be growing publik enthusiasm in the sekond year, when the troublesome "ph" will be replaced with the "f". This will make words like "fotograf" 20% shorter.
In the 3rd year, publik akseptanse of the new spelling kan be expekted to reach the stage where more komplikated changes are possible. Governments will enkourage the removal of double letters, which have always ben a deterent to akurate speling. Also, al wil agre that the horible mes of the silent "e"'s in the languag is disgracful, and they should go away.
By the 4th yar, peopl will be reseptiv to steps such as replasing "th" with "z" and "w" with "v". During ze fifz yar, ze unesesary "o" kan be dropd from vords kontaining "ou" and similar changes vud of kors be aplid to ozer kombinations of leters.

The protesters were local Ukrainian people, who were unarmed and did not commit acts of terrorism. They were not paid by anyone, they were simply there because they were fed up with the rampant corruption in the previous Ukrainian government. These pro-Russian groups are mostly paid mercenaries from Russia and other neighboring countries, who are trained and fully armed with heavy weaponry supplied by Russia and who rob, torture and murder innocent people and even attack residential areas with grad missiles to create nice pictures for Russian news channels, saying the Ukrainian army did it. The difference between simple protesters and these criminals is as clear as night and day.
Yes, that's the point everyone seems to be missing. With the keyboard dock it's essentially a very compact and yet very powerful 10 inch laptop: http://www.razerzone.com/store/razer-edge-keyboard-dock. I might actually buy this tablet simply because it's the only 10 inch tablet I know of that you can order with 8GB of RAM, 256GB SSD, an Intel Core i7 processor and a fast video card. I don't care about those gaming handles that you can attach to it or even that docking station for your tv, because I would use it solely for doing some work when traveling. Sure, it's a bit pricy, but not too pricy given those specs. When everyone is focused on making the cheapest possible hardware with crap specs, it's refreshing to see someone coming out with a product not aimed for an average Joe. The complete specs are here: http://www.razerzone.com/gaming-systems/razer-edge-pro
I once created a tool for that, because I not only wanted to have user-remappable controls in any game, but also create key scripts, as I used to back in the Quake days. The tool is called Key Scripter, you can look it up on SourceForge.
No, you got this backwards. Such software is to prevent the screensaver from running, not to depend on it to lock the computer. While it does lock the computer too, you are not supposed to rely on it and should instead make it a habit to use the standard ctrl+alt+l or win+l shortcuts.
Unlimited calling is already possible on Android phones. As I already mentioned in another thread, there is now a free application called Crolix Communicator that allows free VoIP calls from one Android phone to another. It uses XMPP/Jingle to do that. Check it out, it's available on the Android Market: http://www.androlib.com/android.application.crolix-communicator-jADw.aspx/.
Well, I am one of those hard-core FPS gamers and prefer my Gentoo for gaming. It's a good thing that the games I like happen to work on Linux too. I actually bought Quake Wars for that reason alone originally. There is one exception though, Crysis. I recently had to start dual-booting to Vista to play that one unfortunately. Thought I'd never install Windows again. But believe me, as soon as Crysis starts working under Wine, I'll ditch Windows in a heartbeat.
There is nothing strange about the terminology Hans used. Speaking of data structures or objects as 'live' entities with a 'life cycle' is normal in computer science. Objects are created ('born'), they live and then they are eventually destroyed. That last part is sometimes referred to as getting 'killed', such as by receiving a 'kill signal'. Because some objects are older than others, terms such as 'generations of objects' are also used.
Why was every post of Eukariote modded troll? He is just presenting his views on the subject. If you don't agree with his views, just state your counterarguments and explain exactly where the poster is wrong. Censoring information is never a good way of educating people, even if the information you are censoring is incorrect.

Yeah, it's one of those "when it's done" releases. Personally, I am wondering what kind of wonderful multi-player mods are in the works for the much anticipated Duke Nukem sequel...:)
a negotiation process that involves determining the lowest common version supported between the two endpoints
Is that a typo? I am pretty sure they want the highest common version between the endpoints.

Making ordinary stories sound controversial is the only way to survive as a journalist in the current competitive climate...

Hmm, more likely:
1. Profit!!!
2. Buy SCO Unix assets
3. ???
I once saw a documentary about similar technology. I think it utilized steam as the core material.

Being a monopoly is not illegal. Microsoft was convicted of abusing its monopoly status.

Yes, a wonder-metal for all intents and purposes. But probably more so for intensive purposes. :)
...and get some business hammocks. I hear there are a few places for that on third.
