as far as I know from the article about it a month ago was that the nintendo consoles weer always significantly less than the competition. So, in pulling numbers straight from my ass I bet it would be ballparked around .9 to 1.9W.
I mean, considering how their system has significantly less powerful parts than the competition, it couldn't possibly drain as much as the competition (well atleast at full power) especially since there isn't an internal hdd to spin, that's probably about 60% of the power used by a whole system.
It could be a whole other ball game though for standby leakage. on another note, too many comments and you look like William Shatner, too few and you look like a 12 year old. I for one would rather look like the Shat!

I mean, I don't call myself an expert or anything like that, but I think one of the sole purposes of pushing a high performance part onto the market is to move med/low performance parts into consumer's PCs.
I mean, most of their revenue comes from selling consumer parts, not high performance ones.

  18. Re:no story? Baloney on Jaffe Ditches Games With Stories · · Score: 4, Insightful

You can't sit there and tell me there's no story in Street Fighter (maybe initially, but by the alpha series there was a shitload of backstory) and to be honest I did enjoy most of those games (don't try and tell me that STUN Runner or SFRUSH are good games though)

I though impulsively that they'll make FPS games with no story, and no that we've seen close to a bajillion FPS games, the only thing now that can really make one better than another is story. Story and Gameplay. and if someone like Jaffe could make a game chock full of gameplay w/o the story, don't you think it would have been done already?
Also fun never had anything to do with what I said earlier. I had a shitload of fun playing GTA2, but did I ever finish that? hell no.
GTA3 and Vice City though, had me hooked enough on the story to actually want to finish them. same with HL 1 and 2. Not the same with Doom3. . .

And one more thing I wanted to bring up is that, all those games are old school. Try and find a good storyless game like those in the past 5 years? Did you? I didn't think so.
Old school games are fun because that's all they are, old school games. They were often hard or challenging, which kept you saying "Just one more level" or "I just need to hold on to the spreader until the boss."
Now however, videogames are just as much digital expression of either technological advancement or creative expression as they are games now.

  22. Re:I read that in High School on Kiefer Sutherland Headlines Dragonlance Movie · · Score: 4, Interesting

that is actually true, the entire series apparently spawned from one of the author's theatrical performance of his D&D character one night.

Personally I found the main arc of the series to be really good (the Dragons of * books, didn't really care for any of the others.) I think I may have enjoyed it only for the characters.
As far as game related books, I do believe the Battletech book series was spawned by the table top RPG, and I find for the most part they were excellent.

I think the one thing that makes a successful fantasy/sci-fi book is the authors. I know that Micheal A Stackpole authored many of the Star Wars novels, as well as most of the battletech books I enjoyed.

now onto another topic, wasn't there already a Dragonlance cartoon in the 80's, and didn't it suck hard (removed violence to make it a kids show or something)? Hopefully this will be more oriented towards a mature audience.
