it reminds me of a LAN party I went to, a guy's dell machine like blew up early on and he spent like an hour and a half fixing it. The adminstrators saw him doing it and secretly took a picture. Later on they posted the picture on the big screen and gave him the "crappiest case award" and gave him a new case.

well assuming you want to suffer the performance drops of using the old os on a 64bit DC system, there's nothing wrong with that. The MS Tax is such a crappy scapegoat. . . If you don't want to pay for their OS then custom build your PC. That way you save money on eliminating the OS cost, and by cutting out the middleman (though I suppose you pay another middleman unless you get factory direct prices) I just don't see why people complain about the MS tax if they're just going to buy the OS anyway. Also, I don't want to sound like an asshole but if you can't install an OS on your machine, you probably shouldn't be using the machine. It's these kinds of people who propagate all the email viri.

I got a 360 on saturday with an extra wireless controller and a game for $570something (Canadian no less) and so far, having it on like 5-10 hours a day every day (split between 3 gamers, not by myself :) and so far we haven't had to change the batteries yet. when we do its just 2 AA's so it really doesn't eat batteries.

also they give you 1 month free of xbl gold, which was nice. So far the system has yet to crash/overheat/whatever though when it and my PC are on the room heats up to like 90 degrees

You don't know convenience until you've woken up on the couch, rolled over, grabbed a controller, and turned your system on remotely.

all I've got to say otherwise is that Sony's going to have to have a pretty tight shift if they want to compete at a higher price, or at an even price for that matter.

My problem with games that require the disc to play is in the fact that data isn't loaded from the disc anymore. It is too slow to try and load data from the disc in game so they just dump the entire disc onto the HDD and then expect you to put in the disc, just to slow the crackers down by a day or two. I just think that if they're going to dump everything on my drive to be convenient to them, then they should allow me to play without my disc to be convenient to me. also, I don't think anyone uses this fabled "I steal so I can play without the disk!" mentality. Its more of either: "I steal so I don't have to pay money." or "I play without the disc because it is convenient." both of which are not mutually exclusive.
