Social Security numbers were originally just a Tax ID, people wouldn't get them until age 16 or so (this was changed, according to wikipedia, in the 1980s when SSN's were required to list "dependants). It's sad, it was (as i'm told, I did not experience this) stated that it would "never be used as a national id" or something to that effect, and it has.
At least it's not to the same extent (i think) that it is in the UK. But that's not to say it won't be.
And because some people won't get it, this Informative post will explain.
DivX;-) 3.11 was a hacked version of the Microsoft MPEG 4 layer 2 codec used for.asf files. A french hacker, Jerome Rota, extracted this codec and made it work for.avi files.
Wikipedia seems to skip a bit of history here, not mentioning the cracking of the sound codec etc, but does conclude with the information on "DivXNetworks, Inc" creating a Clean room design version of DivX (similar, in my opinion, to editing someone elses paper enough to make it not technically plagarism) and releasing it as DivX 4.
Did anyone else notice they sourced their Figure 1 from Wikipedia? I know the trolls are already going to agree with the article just to get picked on, but then they'd have to agree with wikipedia, which they can't do because they already are picking on Wikipedia.
Anyone know about how I could make my own Linux Music System? This one's pretty and all, but having seen MythTV's prettyness compared to this device's GUI, I am thinking there's probably a pretty good way to do this myself.
MythTV is for TV, and while it does some audio, I'm betting there's something better specifically for audio control, and may even be able to control AM/FM PCI cards etc...
I don't know about this whole free ipods thing, but I know people who it's worked for, and usually they get their friends who already have/dont want ipods to help them out.
However, is it possible for someone whos received a free ipod to go back and help out the friends who helped him out? I am not sure on this point.
Turn the system on after use, and off before.

I love this journal. First, they decide to give you times in American West Coast (PST) for no reason, as they're in japan, and time of day here matters not to anyone when the test is taking place in day/night conditions in japan. Could someone post the article but translate the times to Japan time, so that their actions make sense logically?
Also, they've made a few, how do you say, mistakes?

i know what you're talking about, i suppose i didn't make it clear though.
anyway, i can bypass both those screens in sp2. it was reported as a bug and is now mentioned as a way to run things for distributers. Reportedly, there is no accept screen at all, and the activex is allowed to run.
I have not tested this but it's coverage suggests that activex can run without permission thanks to this. A lot worse than "just clicking yes" if true.
firefox has a two pronged defense and only the most dense will get through it. you must not just 'accept' it like in IE, which you could accidentally do (ever just type along and a window pops up and you're like "OH GOD WHAT DID I JUST ACCEPT"?) easily. firefox, and I believe mozilla 1.8 will have this in better style, has 1) a whitelist, you must say 'this site can install things', and 2) a delay, even after you whitelist there's a 3 sec delay before you can install it, so you can't just accidentally hit it away.
It's amazing. I go to the register, I see Study: PCs make kids dumber, skim through it and see that they believe "the more pcs a person has at home, the worse they are at math" (paraphrased). And then I come to slashdot, and what d'ya know? U.S. kids are behind in math. I blame it all on calc.exe.
There was a thing that came with K++ (I believe) called the "SuperTrick", and it worked by replacing your hosts file with one which blocked all the adservers. AdBlock, by default, comes empty, and the user has to block ads themself, so if s/he liked a site and wanted to support it, s/he could just view/click the ads for that site. Supertrick, however, blocks many sites without the users interaction, and works for all browsers.
Besides, who is to say that these "clicking IE users" arent really covert clickbots sending out a IE UA?
While I agree totally that xx.mozilla.org should forward to the right pages, you say you have not found it. I believe there's a link to Mozilla-Europe somewhere, but here's the url for the lazy:
wow, twice.
i thought about getting 'www.getfoxfire.com' because people are dyslexic, but it was registered a few days before i checked. i believe, according to your definition, that someone stole my thoughts before i thought them and decided to buy the domain before I did.
thanks sir.

Paypal doesn't like it. Boy does this lady get mad. It's rather funny though.

All I can hope is that it's working on the Unreal 3 engine, because by the time it comes out, everyone's computer will handle it at 1000 FPS.
And here's an Engine Demonstration.

It's a paradox of trolling. What will we do!
Don't worry, I'm downloading all of the 204.9 MB of their source code (zed-oss-0.1.tar.gz) at 20KB/sec! What am I getting, a distro of lunix?

But Microsoft owns Apple, at least PoSV says so. So that makes Apple the Ant-iChrist?
Mirrordot.org is Groovy.
monster.jobs, would be fun, i could scare kids and get paid for it. headhunter.jobs would also be fun.
.xxx? if icann makes it official, will new.net sue because now people don't need to install their spyware to get it?
Didn't new.net already have
I'm confused now.

We give all users admin rights and use group policies to remove them. It works fine.
With this kind of line in wikipediasucks.com?
It's a shoe-in.

That part sure confused me.
