I'm no expert but I bet VESA sets those standards. They're in charge of everything else video-related. Note that the resolution combinations are all 4:3 or 16:9-10 proportions, the same as the monitors.
So does that mean the PS3 will contain a PS2 on a chip will contain a PS1 on a transistor? With enough console generations, Sony could be making the electronic equivalent of the painting-within-a-painting-within-a-painting to infinity;)
I agree. Force-feedback steering wheel? What he really needs is a couple of friends to rock it back and forth. And another friend to randomly call his cellphone.
I hope the Mac version uses the delete/backspace key to go back, like every other browser except the current version of Firefox. I hit backspace a lot while browsing on my Windows PC, it really annoys me that it doesn't work on my Mac, in the same program.
The most RAM I've seen Firefox use is 170MB. Of course, that was with Zombo open in fourteen tabs simultaneously. Put your complaints in context- what was on those four tabs?
This is the best thing I've seen for that purpose. What's funny is, Newegg used to offer this "free with the purchase of any Microsoft software." So, free hardware that satasfied the hardware requirement. Looks like someone told them to stop.
There are lots of small computer shops out there, that custom build systems for people. I think MS is going after the ones who give you the system restore disc on CD-R.
Am I really one of the few people around who actually owns a legit copy of XP? None of my friends do. No wonder it costs so much.
There were a couple of kids...but they weren't annoying at all. They were only in the movie for about ten seconds. I don't want to give away what happens to them.
I've read the books, and I watched it with someone who has memorized most of the jokes, and we both enjoyed it. It's different, and if you want to see the books (the first one, in this case) translated exactly to film, you'll be disappointed. The movie exists as its own entity, just like the radio show and the TV show and everything else. The British humor is extremely toned down, but it's still pretty funny. That poor whale...
Actually, yes, your nine readers certainly are the four drives. Obviously, I don't know what model printer you have, but assuming its 9-in-1 is the same as every other 9-in-1 reader, they are: Secure Digital, MultiMedia Card, Compact Flash, Microdrive, Memory Stick, Memory Stick-PRO, Smart Media, eXtreme Digital, and USB. SD and MMC are one slot, CF and MD are another slot, MS and MS-PRO are another slot, and SM and XD are the fourth slot. Those are your four drives. The ninth, USB, won't show up as a drive unless something is plugged into it (it's really a one-port hub on the printer).
As for whether they should show up as drives with nothing plugged in, some readers do that and some don't. My two-slot reader (with no printer attached) is drives H: and I: even with nothing in the slots. If I unplug it, those drives disappear. Go figure.
To download (instead of stream) in Windows...get SDP Multimedia recorder and save the file mms://wnbgmsft-wm9.fplive.net/wnbgmsft/winhec_2005 0425_300.wmv
Hmph. My cable company didn't pick up MSNBC until a couple of months before they switched formats, so I barely remember "TheSite." "Beyond 2000" was a good show too, their pronunciation of aluminun (aluminium) gave away their Australian-ness. For some reason, I don't remember watching "The Know Zone." Well, enough for me. I'm way too young to be reminiscing about classic basic cable.
The article made me wonder what the attrition rate is for the laptops astronauts take with them. Have any of them been damaged while in space? Granted, most of them have only been up there for a short time, but a few have probably spent years on the ISS. Does NASA have any figures?
Actually, he probably will. Wouldn't you want your console to be known as a supercomputer? It's all publicity. And a guranteed free ad on Slashdot.
What will happen to geek dumpster diving if businesses don't have to buy new hardware every few years? That's where I get most of my computers!

Isn't a mirror kind of useless if it has to pull the images from the original site's server? Just askin'
That's what I thought, too ;)

To be fair, the OEM version costs half that. I can't imagine why anyone would consider buying it retail.
Universities have been case-modding cows for ages. This has the benefit of producing some truly odd pictures. Plus, cows are dumb.
But sheep with human brains? How long until we have to tell farm animals to quit their jibber-jabberin'?*
*If you didn't get that, be thankful.

I don't know, now that they have gigabit broadband it might be easier to just do it all from home...

Those are flash memory card readers. They are treated as separate devices from the printer.
Like this?

ETA...six minutes. Better than eleven hours for the direct link!
Mmmm...Soledad. She was even better on "The Next Step" in the Discovery Channel's pre-suck days.

But the difference between literate English and conversational English is in the use of contractions. That article had too many of them.
