WHY THE FUCK HAVENT THEY MOVED OUT OF HERE?

If you dont like the country, government or whatever, then just go away. I am talking as a immigrant. I have lived in the UK, and even tough I whine a lot abou their unreasonable laws, their tax-everything mentality, their awful food and their stupid sense of humour, I am having a great time and I am enjoying my life here a lot.

There was a reason why I prefered to do my PhD on UK rather than going to a USA University, and it was that I really do not want to be in the USA, I dont like their government, I dont like the perjudices against Latins (I am Mexican) I dont like to live in fear or thinking at some racist will just beat myself if I get out and I hate Mr. Bush policies.

So, what did I do?, I did not go bombing the school or whatever. I go on with my life. As some philosopher said "I do not agree with your point of view but I would give my life to make sure that you can say it" (or something like that). I only stay away from USA and continue with my life, and get people over there continue with their lives.

When we (and by we, I mean the linux community) hit a larger portion of user base, say 10% of desktop market (if that will ever happen) linux is going to be well known, and I don't mean that just by the name, but people will actually from time to time use a computer that has linux installed.

One of the problems that I see with Linux is that it is always "almost" there in hardware support. What I mean is that, on eacn new technology, Open source entusasts put all their effort to make it work and add it to Linux (from say, modems [the winmodems time], video drivers [3d acceleration and everything you can do on other OS], wireless networking [actually making it work, right now my laptop wifi adapter is not supported], etc).

I konw the issue are the driver manufacturers, but this is more like a catch 22 situation, manufacturers just wont support Linux (lots of them dont support OSX after all [not that they have to of course, you wont see someone changing their Mac86 graphics card). Until they dont support linux with the drivers then it wont be possible for linux to get the edge technology when it is arriving, as some time would have to pass until hackers get the technology an provide compatibility for Linux.

The other problem (related) is that a lot of hardware companies wont release source code for their drivers, I am ok with that, I just want my hardware to work, and I want them to provide that funcitonality, I am no driver developer so I dont care about the drviers source code as long as they work. BUT, a lot of hard open source people (including I guess Linus Trovalds and the kernel community) make everything they can to avoid companies creating drivers in an easy way. Hence, from a hardware manufacturer perspective, there is no sense in spending time creating a driver (closed source, as they WONT open source it, it is their decision) for a platform that is just 5% of the population.

It would be nice if some major linux distro changes the Linux kernel with something like FreeBSD, which is less restrictive, and then makes it easy to create drivers for its platform for manufacturers. OH! but there already is one, it is called Apple... now the only thing we need is one that supports PeeCees

Ya, security questions are stupid. I remember going into several chicks account on the ICQ times. The recipe was:

    1. Search for interesting (age, city, status of profile) girl with ICQ search option.
    2. Get into email page (preferably hotmail or yahoo mail or any other webmail) and go through the "forgot my password"
    3. Bypass the "whats your age and other general info" filter, looking of courrse in their profile, it was so funny to look how they filled their profile with everything i needed.
    4. Answer their stupid password (I liked how some sites had and still have 3 or 4 compulsory "questions" to be answered, and I loved more how people *really* answered them).
    5. Profit (with the best thing is when this webmail pages would let you in the mail after doing that, or better yet just gave you the password in plain).

Nowadays is a bit more difficult (of course, if you dont have the general informaiton). But, as they say Google is your friend. And I am sure it might be possible (if you live for example in the same country of the "victim") to use other means to get more informaiton (white pages, etc etc).

What I usually do, is write something completely unrelated as the answer to the security question. It is in some way another password for me.

Before watching the video I had to watch something like 20 seconds of a Snickers add, after watching it I was able to see the 3 seconds video of the game. The thing is that I did got the desire to get a Snickers... grrr and the worst thing is that now that I remember it, I am again getting the desire of a Snickers.

Anyway, 30 seconds add before or after the content (I presumably believe before the content is better) is okey, we are used to that, of course it would be good if the time of the ad was in some way correspondent to the time on the video, that is, watching an add for 30 seconds for a video of 3 is not good.

I believe that MP3 is one of the few file formats that has gained popularity by its own merits. I mean, if you look at the story of MP3 it was at the right place at the right time.

MP3 popularity was mostly due to, and interchangeable with, the successes of companies and software packages like Nullsoft's Winamp (released in 1997), mpg123, and Napster (released in 1999). Those programs made it very easy for the average user to playback, create, share, and collect MP3s.

So, the fact that all the digital media player manufacturers want to provide compatibility for that format is in my humble opinion just the product of pure demand. MP3 is then a standard in the industry. I think that, the problem is that this standard is encumbered with a number of patents, but as somebody else said, for all the DMP manufacturers it is worth it. I would use something like that, and of course after the sender has passed the CAPTCHA test, it would be added to a white list. I thik it is a great way to remove spam once and for all. Does anyone know of a web mail provided that does that?

The chances keep getting greater and greater. As the article said, not only GOOGLE calendars but all other information pusblishing page. I find interesting how easly people share their personal information via webpages. Even some people share that informaiton without knowing it. For example, if you search for a telephone number in google you can get the complete address and name of that person, and from that you can go to Google maps and get a nice aereal photo.

I used to get into ppl email quite esaly in the ICQ era, see, on the ICQ profile people used to write down all their information with their email account (for hotmail or another email provider), then, if you went to the email page and requested to "remind me my password", the web page would ask you some personal information (name, birthday, etc etc) and then it will give you the password. The only thing I had to do is look at the ICQ profile to get all the personal information.

I think parents MUST take more care of what their children are publishing on their MySpace and other web pages, you dont know how much informaiton someone can get from you via google. Nowadays I usually run a google search for each ebayer I deal with (before dealing with him/her or sometimes after as the email usually lets you get lots of more informaiton), it is quite easy to find a lot of info about the person.

We had to ask the people that was NOT using the games what was wrong with them and WHY were they not playing".
