I don't call an XBox in a desplay case with the power on, and two G5 Macs chug away underneath the counter actually running the demo, "production-grade hardware". That my friend is smoke and mirrors.
True dat! For anyone that has developed concurrent thread applications know it's a whole other animal. But concurrent programming is a worth skill to know and will only become more important over the next few years.
We will probably see some new languages being developed to make concurrence easier for the masses in the not-to-distant future.
unfortunately, for some god-awful reason a lot of companies like getting resumes in MS Word format.
This makes no sense to me and i agree with you, I prefer PDF too, but for some reason they want it in.doc format so they can edit it i guess. I mean PDF is far more universal than.doc and they only need to read the file, so this should be a non-issue.
yeah the Intel chip may be half the price of an AMD but when you buy that shiny new Intel PD you also need to shell out for a new mobo to run the damn thing. This esentially brings the overall upgrade price more in line with AMD's price.
With AMD, if you are currently running a 939 mobo all you need to do is a firmware update when you buy the new chip.
One major problem is that once an "artist" signs that music contract, they loss all rights to anything they create while under the contract. So even if the majority of them did wise up, they still couldn't do anything about it as far as distributing the music goes. I mean they can hold out on the company by not making anymore music, but that usually doesn't work well either. Remember Prince... er, "The Artist Formerly Known as Prince"... er, . All his legal problems go to show how little freedom and rights "artists" have to what they create.
make sure you have enough horsepower on those machines to play BZFlag. http://bzflag.org/ Awesome game to play in the lab with friends when you are procrastinating. Trust me, my senior project consisted of many-an-hour playing BZFlag in the CS Linux lab.
I'm almost certain that it will be a finely polished product, considering we all know that lack of competition provides MORE incentive to produce quality.
Just when i thought SpikeTV had gone as low as humanly possible when it comes to games, G4 is bringing out the backhoe to show us just how deep this pit really is.
Of course, if i happen to turn on G4 when "GGW" is on, i might watch it to see how bad it is.
No "and then"!
OTOH, I've only been working at this job for the past 8 months, so i guess it all works out.
Ah fsck it, I'm retiring! I'm 25, and i had a good run. Let society pick up the slack.
What you expected me to welcome an XBox?

Will it play Half Life 2?
I don't think so, there's a reason why they titled the game Duke Nukem Forever.
Duke Nukem Forever = DNF = Did not finish.
I'm trying to get her into MMOGs (DAoC), but so far no luck. She feels they are too large and intimidating.
But semi-seriously, this thing will really take off once they get Billy Mays to sell it over an infomercial.
At least it will be a year or more before we start seeing broad adoption of WiMAX.
Of course, i could be wrong and they may find another way to wringe from more time out of this case.
In fact, anytime they include Jesus in a comic it's fscking funny.
Does that mean you can get it in any color as long as it's beige?

Yes, well here in the Home of the Brave (i.e. USA), we allow our local/state/federal government to do whatever the large corporations want.
the Foreigner Belt.
Best weapon ever!
you are what you program.
I don't think we've hit rockbottom yet.
You'll know we're there when [insert company here] makes a [# of years] deal with the US Curling Assoc.

I mean seriously... did he just forget about Rez?
I don't think his woman would have forgotten about Rez assuming he had the Trance Vibrator.
